But we DO have Meg in our life 😊. I’m so comfortable here- she doesn’t go on like she’s teaching ppl on what to do. And it doesn’t make anyone feel less
I totally agree ! I am old and don’t like when some of the homesteaders say how they will teach us how to cook or whatever. I have also been preserving all my life so I don’t need someone to teach me .I do enjoy watching the homesteaders that just do their lives like our Meg and Ben.
That baby is so cute!! When Ben said “you can open/close the door for me, then open the fridge”. Her little oh! Of pleasure was so sweet!! She is such a cutie!!
Meg is so fantastic in the kitchen not just regular kitchen work but the treat she is preparing for the family. Meg and Ben are a well oiled machine. The children are so great at everything they do, they sure get that off their parents love and guidance. Even Buggie she’s around helping out and absorbing information by osmosis! Love how you end with dinner and all pray! Always enjoy the Hollars
Well, it doesn't appear to be very long before we find out if the new Holler is a Mini Meg or a Ben Jr. Thanks to you folks for sharing your lives with us. 😊
Anytime you see a patch of daffodils or irises, that means there was an old homestead there at one time. Back when the settlers came they brought these bulbs and rhizomes with them from their homeland. They would plant a few and they would multiply year after year. Some of the old homes are no longer there but the flowers remain. Some of the homes still stand. As you take a drive keep a lookout for daffodils. That means someone lived there long ago. Daffodils are not native to the U S. ..very impressed with you two and your amount of knowledge!
Deer, rabbits, and moles hate daffodils. Billy from Perma Pasture Farms grows a couple of rings of daffodils around all of the orchard fruit trees, to repel the pests. Just 1 of his methods to protect his trees.
To keep your twine from possible contamination, we put ours inside of a container with a lid with a hole that we made in the top and feed the twine through the hole. Close the top and pull out what you need. You will have clean, dry, untouched twine ready for use. If you go a while between uses, just pull out the exposed twine, cut of as much as you left hanging out and you are ready to truss! ♥️
I am 71 and grew up like your children are but on 280 acres in Missouri. I said all that to say THANK YOU, you 2 taught me so much in this video today. I will never be afraid of too-salty bacon ever again!
I seriously enjoy seeing your kids, especially the captivatingly adorable Miss Lilliana aka Buggy. As much as I love your content, it’s the adorable things she does and says at this stage that puts a smile on my face. She’s seriously precious and makes me miss my girls being little 😢 I’m 44, and you’re giving me baby fever 😂😂😂
When is your baby due? I can’t wait. 81 year old great grannies just love babies and we know yours will be supper special. I love and enjoy every one of your videos.
From city folk to country folk this family rocks ‼️. You have learned & done soo much & have taken us along with you. Much respect & Great admiration for All 👵🏻👩🌾❣️
We have a stray that showed up in our back window about 8 years ago and she had a loped ear as well. Amazing how we come to love these little creatures! She and I have been inseparable ever since. I even wrote and recorded a song about her and put it on my channel. Bella. Always enjoy visiting with you! ❤❤
Thank you Meg and Ben. Love watching your family work and enjoy life together. I remember going to my grandparents to visit and I remember they had a smoke house they cured hams in. They were always delicious. I never knew how they did it. I Wes a young child and it was a great memory for me. I’m 72 now. I love the way was back then. I think that’s why I so love watching your wonderful family.
Ben & Meg, glad it rained so you could show how you cure your meat very interesting and informative. Yes we've cured ham and bacon years ago but never thought about the others, now I wished we did. Buggy is so adorable love her pigtails and she looks like her younger brother. Blessings to you and the family. 😊🇺🇲
Ben & the Boys! Great job on the deck - addition can’t wait to see the finished add on. You’re a great guy Ben for looking out for STL. Jason l! hi Meg & Buggy
The best things that I enjoy about this family is they are not afraid to try new things-in the kitchen, foods, garden, seeds, working together, trying what the boys suggest, building, repairing items out side, growing animals, teaching the boys, letting Buggy try any thing they are working on an learning. I just love Buggy
Hello Ben and Meg, our daffodils have been blooming for over a week and I noticed yesterday that the tulip trees are blooming as well as the forsythia. I love watching you work with cured meats. That’s an area that I would like to become more proficient in
My father built a cold smoker for smoking pork sausage, fish and other meat. I wish he had lived long enough to see our homestead. He had a lot of wisdom we could have tapped. He was always building/ creating something useful out of’junk’. Ben, you have a similar creative mind and talent as he had.
Buggie is adorable! You folks really teach so much with your videos. Thank you so much! You are beautiful Meg. Pregnancy suits you. When will our let us know boy or girl?
You’re amazing Meg. I have learnt so much from you about food and homesteading from Ben. You are teaching some of us city slickers a lot and I wish I could have a homestead like you guys. But I guess I will have to just enjoy yours and Bens and enjoy what you do which is a high light for me when I see you have put a video up. Have a lovely day. Greetings from the UK.
Yum yum yum. Just had breakfast here in Oz but I am getting hungry again. That chicken dish so similar what I grew up in Hungary called the "nature slice" the only different when we put it back after the egg wash the second layer of flour we add paprika powder then fry it. 🎉🎉🎉 I can just smell all those lovely meat hanging. Who needs scented candles when you have coppa ands bacon😊🎉🎉🎉
You guys are such foodies! I’m so impressed with spending a rainy day fixing up some home grown copas. Then you whip up mock chick fillets! People after my own heart. Enjoy!
When your son gave your needle i have a sewing kit that was my moms. She passed in 1997 and this kit was always in her purse for repairs. She had put alot of different ones from small to large. Snaps buttons and a little bit of differnt threads. I rember her doing meats like your doing. Thanks for showing this process to new members. I rember my first apron at buggys age. Your video's make me smile. Blessings
I loved this video. You guys are amazing. The homestead epicures. Why does any homesteaders eat beans and rice when they could eat like the best food of so many cuisines. (Nothing wrong with some good Cuban red beans and rice either once in a while). Home made chicken filled....yummmmmmm.
Little Ham aka Buggy with her exuberant "byyyeee" at the end is just so for the win. Have a wonderful weekend and full and wonderful start to March. Marching into to March.
My other farm channel (a longhorn cattle rancher; very fascinating yet different from yours) just spent a fortune for 6 tons of fertilizer which he used in a full day of driving his truck pulling a fertilizer buggy slowly slowly all over his pastures. He did check the weather forecast which predicted the right amount of rain to melt the fertilizer into all his acres of grass, but that is always hit or miss. He got the hit as your rain is also his rain located in Texas and he is breathing a satisfied sigh of relief. He also put lime on some of his pastures that were far too acid for good grass. The lime was also very expensive and needed the rain to melt into his building up of new selective deforested acidic pastures (from decades of pine needles) pastures. More signs of relief. I am located in Seattle, Washington so rain is just a given at this time of year, but I understand that that is not the case in other states. Glad he got his pasture rain and you got your indoor chore rain.
Good Evening Beautiful HH Family 🖐🏻. Absolutely love your family and videos 👍🏻👍🏻. Thanks for sharing and keeping it real. Lillian is such a joy and makes me Laugh and Smile, little ray of Sunshine 😊. Kudos to Meg and Ben for raising awesome people, they grow up way too fast. Stay safe and God Bless Y'all. Love and Prayers For All, Bye 😊 ♥️🙏🏻🙏🏻
I love the way Meg describes everything! lol “Not poking deep like a voodoo doll!” 😂 I get the feeling we’d have a lot of fun together in the kitchen! 😁
I agree with Mr. Jerry, Baby Holler has moved on down. Hopefully Meg can get some rest before the big day. Love that you are making your own dried meats. Glad folks are keeping these arts alive as they are quite tasty. Congrats on your efforts, well done!
When is the baby due? You both are a wealth of knowledge. My Daddy was a butcher all his life and I learned more watching you two on this video than I ever learned from him. But he did all his work on the job. All we learned was that he knew the best cuts of meat to bring home.
What can't Meg do? Wife, mom, homesteader, cook, producer, director, editir, DJ now shes makig deli meats. Everyone needs a Meg Holler in thier life
I agree! We need a Meg, but my husband has questions.... Lol.
But we DO have Meg in our life 😊. I’m so comfortable here- she doesn’t go on like she’s teaching ppl on what to do. And it doesn’t make anyone feel less

Teacher, taxi driver, doctor
And she makes mittens out of cow intestines. 😂
That baby is so cute!! When Ben said “you can open/close the door for me, then open the fridge”. Her little oh! Of pleasure was so sweet!! She is such a cutie!!

Love how you end the video all around the table. ❤
It’s one of my favourite parts.
Only I know the vlog is coming tow close.
Buggie shouting bey is so so sweet 🥰
Well, it doesn't appear to be very long before we find out if the new Holler is a Mini Meg or a Ben Jr. Thanks to you folks for sharing your lives with us. 😊
8 days of snow started today here in N Idaho! daffodil envy is strong! I planted A LOT more last year. can hardly wait!
my vote is girl! can you imagine the fun of two Buggies?!
@@ardenpeters4386 it would be amazing to see another Buggy hugsssss

Didn't they say July?

They are everywhere in NC
You’re amazing Meg. Lilleana’s got a great teacher. God bless all of you. Praying you have a healthy baby!
Nice you call Lilyanna by name so much nicer than Buggy
Deer, rabbits, and moles hate daffodils. Billy from Perma Pasture Farms grows a couple of rings of daffodils around all of the orchard fruit trees, to repel the pests. Just 1 of his methods to protect his trees.
Love watching the two of you working together in the kitchen. My husband (RIP) and I did the same, and I miss that.
My husband never worked with me in kitchen, I missed that.

♥️
You can do that with an old teapot. Just feed the twine through the spout.
I am 71 and grew up like your children are but on 280 acres in Missouri.
I said all that to say THANK YOU, you 2 taught me so much in this video today. I will never be afraid of too-salty bacon ever again!
Buggie’s hair looks sooo cute!
The way you guys homestead fuels my homestead dreams. You make it so approachable and take a lot of the analysis paralysis out of doing it for me.
Totally agree. They are great at teaching others as they do their day to day stuff.
Agreed
"Taaa daaaa" coming in through the door. She's got the schtick!
Another amazing day on the Hollar Family Homestead! Blessings on your day Hollar family!🌻🐛Carolyn in Ohio 🌿
Meg can do just about anything. 👍☺️
Such hope in the future in knowing there is a family growing and working and doing life together as your family Ben and Meg.
Thanks!!
Meg, you have some serious skills!
I always laugh out loud at the end when Little Chicky says byeeeee 👋🏻 🥰
I think Millie cat loves Ben💞😁
Millie is a very kewl kitty 😺 🐈
Meg you are awesome.!!!

When my boys were about her age, I found them with spoons hiding in my small pantry closet eating brown sugar from the bag. Great memories. 😂
Thank you! This was truly a great educational video for me. Many blessings
Now that’s real Homesteading!
I’m so glad you haven’t gone corporate!
Keep up the Awesome work!
Hey, how are you feeling Mom?
Title should have been ‘pork to make you drool’, omg
You all are amazing.
I have room in my fridge.😊
I always look forward to your videos.
When is your baby due? I can’t wait. 81 year old great grannies just love babies and we know yours will be supper special. I love and enjoy every one of your videos.

You can never have enough bacon!😅
💕💗💕🙏🙏🙏 Thanks to the little taster/helper, you really make me smile!!!
Oh, HI from Oregon!
Buggy looks so cute with her little apron on and her hair up!
Your helper is such a cutie! Yum bacon.
When on the run, first thing in the morning, there's nothing better than a country ham biscuit!
You two have so MUCH knowledge! Thanks for sharing it in a video!

Our first daffodils just bloomed today in Southern NJ. Yay spring is coming
I'm a tad jealous .. up here in New England our Daffodils are not even a 'dream' yet.. 😮😅 🏵 🌼
Good evening guys it’s been a while. Thank you for this video. Always enjoy them. Love watching you guys.
Great tutorial ! Loved Buggy's little apron .
As I watch this we are getting what is supposed to end up being 4 inches of snow here in northern Maine.
Buggie’s hair is cute.
OH Meg, you make me laugh :) Your fingerless mitten was splendid!! LOL
Shades of Michael Jackson...with the "fingerless" fit..no?...😂
@@mmurphy2317 That's a riot! Thanks for the extra laughs! 😂😂
Meg that tutorial was awesome.princess look so cute in her apron and pony tails

Fascinating. I wish I knew more about the whole process. I'm definitely watching this over several more times.

That child is a gem. She’s such a doll and how she loves to help with whatever and with whoever is ADORABLE.

Meg is a true artisan in her homemaking skills and her family is able to enjoy food at its best. ❤
Awesome family to watch❤
I wish I had one of those chicken sandwiches! Yum!
Cutest ork I've seen.....
I would so love to see this channel reach 500K!!!!
I learn and enjoy from each video!
What an adorable "Ork" Buggie makes!!! And yes, yes yes... Ben needs a smoke house!!!

Buggy has her timing down for the "bye" at the end. I can see her taking over when she's older.
what a blessing to watch this family. ❤
Learning so much from your channel.
Dear Meg watching you at the sink I have to sigh you are one of a kind in the nicest way try to rest before this baby arrives

Those pigtails! Little Buggy just makes me smile. I learn so much from your videos. Thank you for sharing!
Yes Meg is an awesome homemaker. Hoping she gets a larger kitchen with the new addition.
Buggy doing Quality Assurance on the brown sugar was so cute. I have absolutely no idea what Been was talking about. LOL
It's always a busy day in the kitchen if you have a family.
What an interesting video. You are true homesteaders.
I always enjoy your rainy day projects. the end is so cute when she says bye.
More hard work, more information, more mouths to feed…steadfast….I adore and love this family‼️
