You have a lot of control at Costco. I always come home with many things not on my list. I am always a sucker for "new" items and love trying new snacks, and deli items. Your hauls are so healthy! Not even a bag treats!

The dried mushrooms are great! I especially love them in soups. I used to add them to a chicken, wild rice, and butternut squash soup I made. Really adds depth of flavor.

So many wonderful things! During the last seconds the hanging Sunflower Decoration caught my eye and made me smile, as well as remind me to continue to pray for (Adrianna? God always knows who I mean) the dear woman your heart went out to when you showed us her creation!
The shopping videos are encouraging for meal ideas, the unique preferences of different family members you reference makes me smile. I could go on but I've got to rest my back to hopefully sit up and turn my video option on for tonight's Garden Visit with everyone!

The dehydrated mushroom blend is delicious. I have it. I've worked in a restaurant and couldn't get past the texture at first. SoI asked and it fixed. Soak them in hot water rinse and again. (You can save the broth second time) And coat in flour before cooking. They make the most delicious cream of mushroom soup with fresh herbs and shallots ❤️

Just found your channel, wow!! On the topic of dried mushrooms, I dry as many as I can and also power some. The powderd ones you can add to everything. I'm a pescatarian so no meat, but lots of seafood and mushrooms. In fact I'm just finishing my last soup up as I'm watching: fresh chanterelles, ginger, garlic, onions, shredded carrots, leftover airfried tofu, and yondu. No salt or pepper needed.
Subscribed and will keep watching. Take care of yourself and your family.

A couple ideas. For anyone who has access to Azure Standard, they offer frozen raspberry PIECES for under $13 for a 5 lb box. Exceptional quality. We use them for jam and smoothies.
Also, we aren’t a soda family either but occasionally we like one. We have a Soda Stream and a few flavored syrups and Bubly drops. That takes care of the craving for us. (Plus I was fortunate enough to find the syrups and Bubly deeply discounted on clearance.)

Wow, that’s a big shop! I notice that you use dish washer detergent pods. I assume, being a ranch, that you are on a septic system. A word of caution. The substance that makes the outer shell of the pod is called Poly Vinyl Alcohol and is not septic friendly. We found this out the hard way. It is not biodegradable and there is no way to remove it from your septic or leach field. It coats the soil and components of your system - reducing its efficiency. Laundry detergent sheets are composed of the same substance and are also not septic friendly. Just wanted to pass along this info from one septic owner to another.

I am in central Texas. I stopped using any kinds of cleaners, detergents and dishwasher cleaners with chemicals the last 3 months. My dishes had a film on them that we could not get off. I started realizing that those chemicals were on our plates we eat off of, our laundry and everything around our house. So we switched several times until we found what worked best to do its job and not poison us. We use Truly Fresh. Not a commercial. Just might look at other cleaners without the yuck chemicals. You will be surprised at how fresh your clothes and dishes will be without chemicals.
I love your channel. It is shocking how much it costs large families to live. Crazy world.

Good Morning from North Western Suburbs of Chicago..
Chelsea you don't have to buy tortilla chips,
I buy fresh made corn tortillas and cut in quarters, fry in peanut oil..my family love them. It's quick easy and cheaper, they last a longtime, however we haven't had a chance to test that theory before they get eaten quickly, and with the salsa I make from my garden to left over smoke beef (what ever cut we ma have left over) I'll make Nachos and combined everything in our smoker..❤

It's a whole other skill to learn, but BC has some of the best locations for foraging mushrooms and if you like the dried ones it could be a fun family adventure to do your own foraging!
I'm in Alberta and just started foraging and dehydrating mushrooms this year. I have taken a class and have a friend who is an expert. I always double check with him and then cross reference with other resources before eating any mushrooms I find, but there are some easily identifiable ones like oyster mushrooms that are great to start with.

I dehydrated galleons of Chantrell mushrooms and a small amount of Chicken of the woods after dehydrating I used the food processor and chop them. Also caught a couple of sales in my area and did some Portabellas and white button ones. They work great in soups and stews also used some in pasta sauce. I think you will really like them. What a great haul!
I always love to see your shopping hauls. Also as a comparison with the Dutch prices of food items.
Especially vegetables, fruit and butter are a lot cheaper here. I don't know the bulk prices, I never come to those stores, but I can imagine that it's even quite a lower price than in our supermarkets.
I always see you buy a lot of canned mushrooms. Is it possible to share a (stew) recipe how you use them?
To be honest: it's just curiosity. I don't cook because I'm tube fed and on IV fluids. But I still love to collect delicious recipes to share them with my loved ones. And sometimes I cook in large quantities for my mom, so she has freezer meals. I love cooking, and she hates it. 😅
I hope you have a wonderful week!

Yes, in Germany the same. 😅 You really think you score, when you get some jars for normal price.

SAME HER !!!! 3 hours each way to go to costco straight highway driving! 6 hrs just to get there & back plus time shopping !!! the same butter is $6.99 at costco right now here ! The trick to the brown sugar is Tupperware Modular Mates! I started selling Tupperware a long time ago to get a little discount & got modular mates & put my brown sugar in it...2 yrs later still as fresh as it was when i bought it !!! The Superstore & costco are so expensive but not much options here ... i miss having Fresh Co & Basics but thats the price i pay to live near the ocean !!!

The trick to brown sugar is to just make your own when you need it one cup of white sugar to 1 tablespoon of molasses. This is how brown sugar is made anyways so you only make it as you need it and it’s fresh every time.

As it is just me, with some to share, I do not buy the level of bulk that you do. OTOH, I will be beefing up my bulk buying for some shelf stable products and some for my freezer. Strangely, getting organic items where I live in the US is difficult from the big membership clubs. Organic, I buy from an interesting grocery store that has been in my town for over 40 years. I live in the Ohio Valley of the US, just outside of a large metro area. Your videos inspire me to make sure that I have enough food to get me through rough times. If my electric goes out during storms, I am making alternative plans for heating and cooking. No natural gas where I live. Thanks for this video. I am sure you will be making another haul for some items before hard winter sets in where you live. Looking forward to all your upcoming videos.

It is totally worth freeze drying mushrooms when you find them in bulk or on sale. They reconstitute in your meals well.

I'm in the UK and it's actually cheaper to shop at our local large supermarket than bulk buying from Costco. I can't fault the quality of Costco but not the price. I have 5 supermarkets within a 20 minute drive from home, so lots of choice too.

I find that quite a few things work out cheaper in the smaller supermarket packaging then buying big bottles or package online (I'm also in UK). Yes I have more packaging to bin but most is cardboard and little plastic bottles and containers. Cardboard and plastic (mostly bottles) are collected every 2 weeks here. So is glass. Some containers like the bigger spice and herb ones I donate to school and a local nursery. They come in handy for craft projects there and It's not like I'm giving them 100 a week or so.

@@elysiana8889 Like you I can console myself on the carbon footprint with recycling packaging. I'm not convinced that there is that much extra to be fair.

This is so interesting- seeing the prices and all. We lived in remote Australia and we’d do our shopping once a month as “the shops” were also an 8 hours journey. We would hook up the box trailer and go to town. With a family of 5 we’d enjoy some time in the nearby town and do our 4-6 week shop. The price was horrendous but it was just “life”.

Chelsea mentioned once that she and Dan moved in together when she was 15, that could explain why she is such a young grandmother. Being a young grandmother is such a blessing.

I find your hauls so interesting just from the Canadian content perspective. Thought you would be interested to know that where I live (Thunder bay , Ontario) we have both wholesale club and real Canadian superstore. The closest Costco is about 8 hours away. So I can only order online from Costco and thus there is lots I can’t order (like cheese etc). Those tea towels are adorable.

I'm in Alberta, and shop mostly at Wal-Mart. I thought my grocery prices were high, as I routinely spend bettween $500.00 - $600.00 on groceries per month. But your prices are much higher then mine. I used to cry every time I went shopping, but after seeing your prices I'm glad I live in Alberta. Thank you for showing me such a huge difference.
