The reason neo didn't fight back was because after she "killed Ruby" she didn't have a purpose I guess she didn't know how to get back to remnant so sense she thought had no purpose she just sat there
After Roman died, Neo's entire existence has been 'get revenge on Ruby'. And now that she's succeeded, she has nothing left to live for. She didn't realise her life had only one singular purpose until that purpose not longer exists. She basically went into full mental crisis mode and effectively stopped functioning as a person. She became the perfect host for the Cat, a blank canvas.
16:45 - 17:50 ,19:53 Neo's whole life purpose after losing Roman was getting revenge against his "killer", but when she finally got her revenge, Neo realize that it wasn't as satisfying as she thought and she soon realize that other than getting revenge against Ruby, she had nothing else to live for and nothing and no one else she cared for as she is stranded in another world, causing her to have a existential crisis and a psychological breakdown.....
Curious Cat making their way into Neo’s mouth and her eyes rolling into the back of her head while CC overtakes her body complete with rows of teeth is straight up NIGHTMARE FUEL!
rip cal she was an incredible actress singer and reactor who was taken from us via rwby induced euphoria too soon. sometimes i can still hear her voice....her *very* loud voice...
"I need to stop zoning out when you talk" - Hunter I relate to that, lol Neo only backed up out of frame. They did see her. Isolating the scene to just Ruby and Little falling was an artistic choice I think. I think Neo was too lost in her emotional trauma to think of fighting against the cat while she could. I doubt Neo was drinking the tea, that seems like an instant trip to the tree if anyone drinks it.
I think with what the cat said about the tree is that after drinking the tea or being dropped into the hole, it holds you in a place that is somewhere familiar in your memories, and converses with people in some way and talks to them about their experiences and if they really want to ascend.
See I would feel bad for Neo but after breaking Ruby down in the most brutal way possible and killing Little . I don’t feel bad for her losing herself to the Cat. Karmas a bitch.
Cal's reaction to Roman Holiday is the most over-the-top thing. In a matter of a couple of seconds, She's like: *covers mouth* *screeches* "oh no, Oh noo~, OoOh NoOo~" *jaw drops* *gasps* *pupils dilate* *grabs Hunter* *smirks* *hits Hunter* *smirks even more* "HUNTEEER!" *shakes Hunter* "We did it Hunter!"
My interpretation is that all of the Tea Party guests were people that died who Ruby “failed to save”, be it saving them from dying or saving them from being evil. That’s why it’s important that all three deceased headmasters were invited
As I've always said, Neo is highly susceptible to the manipulations of others. She really thought she was the greatest manipulator in the world, but ultimately ended up as just another pawn in the Curious Cat's larger game. Just like how Neo was just another pawn in Cinder's larger game - at least *_twice._* Neo displayed her peak villainy in this episode, and it was glorious; I loved it! However, Neo could never operate on the level of villainy and cunning that bigger and badder villains such as Cinder Fall and the Curious Cat do.
The Curious Cat also didn't really consider her at all except for that chance possession. And Neo did what the Cat failed to do - break Ruby. Neo completely succeeded at her goal, so her level of villainy is irrelevant, and her cunning was sufficient. And I don't think she thought she was the greatest manipulator in the world. It might seem like it since being a manipulator means you have to show yourself off as confident, though. But she was good enough. What makes me think she didn't think she was the best is because she didn't think about what would happen afterwards. Someone who thinks they're that good would assume they would succeed and naturally think of the future. And if she was just too hyper-focused she would probably not stop to consider how good she was either.
A repeat warning was bad enough. But I don't think anyone was expecting for this to be a psychological horror. So much to unpack and theorize... *-Episode 8 :Tea Amidst Terrible Trouble* -RWBY quote of the chapter _“It's not a place you go. It's a place you know.” (Curious Cat)_ -Missed Signs The moment when the team realized their error with regards to the leader; they relied too much on her. Weiss summarized it well enough, that even though they had good intentions, it did have a negative effect on her as well. Yang's reaction, at first seemed less sympathetic than the others, as Blake and Weiss had somewhat of an understanding of what she could be feeling. But it is more likely that Yang regards Ruby in a much higher standard than even herself. After Beacon fell, Yang had a time where she just wanted to give up, whereas Ruby continued on. That likely left Yang with the impression that Ruby was a much stronger person than she was and she could deal with problems better than she could. But everyone has their limits. And Ruby has apparently reached hers... -Shattered The scene with Ruby walking away reminds me of the scene of the many reincarnations of Ozma, how there were times where the burden was too much for him and he would give up, only to later on continue his mission. Except Ruby doesn't have the blessing/curse of rebirth (that we know of) after. She always did worry about letting people down. Regarding the fight itself, one or two things comes to mind. One is that, interestingly enough, even though she didn't take Crescent Rose in the previous chapter, on this one, she had it and used it without difficulty. A instinctual reaction, perhaps? A small sign that even though she is consciously unsure of who she is, subconsciously, she will always be a Huntress. Second is regards to her opponents. Although it made sense for many of the characters to be there, for Neo's psychological attack to be effective, less so much with regards to Lionheart and Clover. Neither of them were killed or even had no connection for Ruby to even feel guilty or responsible due to her actions (aside from Clover being one of her teachers in Atlas maybe). Nevertheless, Neo's plan worked, having familiar faces punish Ruby and forcing her to retaliate, only to use Oscar's image in place to give her a horrifying image to finish the job. And then stomping on Little (although I don't think he's dead) further broke her down further enough to give up to surrender to Neo. -Victory? Neo's power is more than OP. I'm not sure if much of her power is from her evolved Semblance or a side affect of the Ever After (or both), but its beyond absurd. She's is literally a walking _Reality Infinity Stone_ with her ability being more potent than Emerald's illusions. And even then, there was a limit to Emerald's ability that stressed her mentally, whereas Neo didn't show any sort of drawback (initially). The replicas she created were far too complex than the jabberwaky, so much so that they spoke, reacted, and fought exactly as their real counterparts would. That would take an insane amount of imagination and knowledge to construct, especially given that there may be one or two of the people that she never had contact with. A possibe drawback though... Once she completed her vengeance, she broke down herself, having nothing else to strive for and realizing that ending Ruby didn't change the fact that Roman is gone and leaving her prone for Curious to possess her. What's weird is her demeanor after. In most cases like this, after the person gets their revenge, there is a usually a moment of satisfaction, of achievement, before they realized what they've done was pointless (like a caffeine crash). But there was no such moment for Neo. The moment Ruby fell, she just...shut down. Giving the oddity of the Ever After, it may have a greater strain on those who are mentally/emotionally damaged, to those who don't know their purpose. -Curious Intentions It was already clear that Curious was different from the other Afterains, but his revelation shows that a great deal more. Here we find Curious' true goal, to discover why his creators left him in the Ever After, cursed with endlessly curiosity. And to get to his goal, he needed someone with a broken heart to take control over (Basically following the premise of the movie _Upgrade_ ). By all rights, you would think that he would have teamed up with Neo, but he likely learned of Neo's intentions and interfered just as Ruby reached past the breaking point. But after Ruby was gone, he found another host in Neo (creating nightmare fuel in the process). -The Tree Obviously, reaching the tree in the focus of this volume, with so many questions and thoughts about it. What is it's true purpose? Death? Ascension? A rebirth or metamorphosis of some kind (the random butterflies is indicated of something) A portal out of there? The only thing that can be said honestly is that the Afterains don't fear it, but rather welcome it. If there is anything true about what Curious said, it may effect the people of Remnant differently. Particularly in Ruby's case, as now the tree seemed to wither and grow dark after she fell into the void (likely the roots). Neo certainly believed that brewing a tea from leaves would be the end of Ruby (How Neo learned that is another question). Could that be what happened to Louis? And what did Curious meant by the above words? So many questions... A random thought... What if in order to save Ruby from or for her metamorphosis, an exchange of time is needed. Jaune would give two years to Ruby, reverting him back to his younger self and aging Ruby two years (making her the same age as the rest of her team).
I don't know about you, but I think I can relate to how Neo feels after killing Ruby and the fact that she just feels so unsatisfied about it afterwards. After all, there are a number of characters from different anime who have fallen victim to this same feeling as well. How they just feel so unsatisfied after carrying out their revenge.
That part of the dig two graves when seeking revenge as you kill yourself in the process. Revenge gives no solutions and leaves one empty or still full of rage for the dead still obsessed with punishing someone already gone. Revenge helped protect pre and primitive humans from other predators who learned harm a human the humans go out to kill all of your kind anywhere near them. But it not longer needed instinct hopefully we learn how to genetically remove it.
Everyone was emotionally scarred by this episode, but the mere fact that Billy Kametz got one final hurrah as Roman Torchwick thru this episode made me leave it smiling ear to ear. Not to mention, the fact that Pokemon, Fire Emblem, and now RWBY gave "In loving Memory" screenshots to Billy. Rest in mothertrucking peace, good sir.
I waited a week for Cal's reaction to Roman, I can wait a week for the thing that will happen in chapter 10. Also did we just get "to catch a predator'd" by Not James? that's just... a Meme Neo's been after Ruby since Torwich died, an unhealthy obsession to chase, and then you finally get it, you lose your purpose, and in the Everafter, losing ones purpose is dangerious. Neo's not moving, and the girls+jaune just stand there and watch Ruby because of Shock, they are all in shock at what they are experiencing and seeing. CC casually becomes Loki from the Persona series.
The “you’re chasing a magic cat around a fairy tail” line wasn’t Billy it cuts back to Billy when he says “world’s getting fuzzy by the minute” at least that was the only Roman line I noticed changing VAs.
Neo: Wants Also Neo: Gets what she wants Also Neo: That’s it? Me: Yes bitch. What’d you think was gonna happen after she did what you got her to do? Hello?!😂
This whole episode was just trauma central for Ruby. I was excited and sad seeing Penny and Pyrrha again. I was also screaming "Jaune tried to warn you guys!" when the curious cat tried to possess Ruby. Sure, Jaune wasn't okay, but I trusted him more than this random cat that we just met not that long ago, so I wasn't even surprised when the cat said they weren't being totally honest. The cat situation aside, I just know team RWBY's gonna feel immense guilt after seeing Ruby off herself (or ascend in this case assuming humans can do that). I think it'll hit Jaune the most since he already has truama from "failing" to save people and he's the one who yelled at Ruby and blamed her for everything even if he did apologize afterwards. Yang's gonna feel it real bad too since she practically raised Ruby and should know her better tham anyone else, but failed to notice what was going on with her before the emotional outburst as shown by the WBY conversation in the paper forest. Among the main group this volume, Jaune and Yang have been the closest people in Ruby's life since Volume 1 so that's why I think they'll feel it the worse.
My running theory about what the cat said about the tree, is that it'll take you back to a time when you knew your purpose or could find it again. Summer is her trauma, so I'm guessing that it'll take her back to a time when Summer was alive and she would be able to work Ruby through her stuff?
The people behind child Neo are actually her parents. They're major characters in Roman Holiday and while I forgot to finish the book, they sorta are kinda pretty dead...
The night before this aired I had a drsm eo was controlling people at my old high school like puppets and she could talk. She sounded like a like Sarah Silverman (who funfact was supposed to be her original voice actor before that fell through so they made neo mute) BUT APPOLLO WITH THE GIFT OF PROPHECY
I'm late asf but I had to drop in bacause I somehow forgot to check Cal's reaction to the scenes in Vanille Mansion. I knew this girl was going to lose her absolute shit and I love it! The denial of Neo actually killing Little really funny. Even I wasn't expecting her to be _that_ savage 😂 Damn. I love Roman sm more after Roman Holiday and I lowkey shrieked at "hello Red" the only scene that had me nearly as fucked up was the opening scene of this volume's finale. I think I blacked out when I realized the context because I was not expecting _any of it_ We in this bitch, y'all. I loved this volume! If we don't get at least 4 more volumes, I'm queing up Time to Die on a muthafkn boombox and beatin some ass
I like the implication that Neo's parents had the painter hide her heterochromia. When I first saw the episode, I was wondering would've possibly happened to her eyes, but then I read a comment suggesting this, and it made way more sense.
This was utter nightmare fuel!!! Arnold predicted that you'll lose your mind!!! 🤣 On a shippers POV, rosegarden and nuts'n dolts must've lost their minds!! Heck the whole fandom lost their minds this episode!!!
I'm still confused on if the Curious Cat is _evil_ But straight up forcefully possessing someone (and with that wicked cackle) they can't really be _good,_ right? I am curious of who this "Maker" is, but with the Cat saying that they wanted to find out why they left, they may not have purely malevolent goals? I haven't watched the new episode as of writing this comment by the way
You saying you don't understand is soooo much Patrick huh I don't understand meme honestly only have been watching to see how you would react to neo being taken over and doing this atrocious stuff and see how far you would forgive horribleness honestly wasn't disappointed in that at least...
It's just bad editing... like when Oscar landed the most telegraphed punch in the show - on Neo of all people - instead of coming around the *nearest* corner and surprising her, like he was supposed to. You were confused by bad editing, nothing more.
Bro I swear if they kill off neo or like something happens to her I swear I’m going to be so mad bc like how can you kill off a character who doesn’t even have a voice actor for it? Like they would be so dumb to do that but not only for that reason but bc the fandom loves HER so they need to stop !!
The reason neo didn't fight back was because after she "killed Ruby" she didn't have a purpose I guess she didn't know how to get back to remnant so sense she thought had no purpose she just sat there

The way how Neo landed beside Roman is such Grace.

As I've always said, Neo is highly susceptible to the manipulations of others. Just like how Neo was just another pawn in Cinder's larger game - at least *_twice._* Neo displayed her peak villainy in this episode, and it was glorious; I loved it! It feels like it's been SO MUCH MORE than a week since I've been waiting for this reaction. 🤣
The people behind child Neo are actually her parents. They're major characters in Roman Holiday and while I forgot to finish the book, they sorta are kinda pretty dead...
Fudging made me nearly spill my drink taking a sip before you already started losing it XD
Arnold knew you were going to get like this.
Freak out so bad it spilled over to Arnold's video
Well, that sure was one hell of a mad tea party now, amirite?
I guess you could say the curious cat Transitioned into Neo 😅
I like the implication that Neo's parents had the painter hide her heterochromia. When I first saw the episode, I was wondering would've possibly happened to her eyes, but then I read a comment suggesting this, and it made way more sense.
The painter likely didn't know even she _had_ heterochromia. Neo's parents made her where a brown contact to hide her pink eye.
RIP, Dr. Maruki.
OUCH!! MY EARS ARE BLEEDING CAL AND I HAVE BARELY STARTED THE VIDEO!! 😆
This was utter nightmare fuel!!! Arnold predicted that you'll lose your mind!!! 🤣
On a shippers POV, rosegarden and nuts'n dolts must've lost their minds!! Heck the whole fandom lost their minds this episode!!!
It was a Very Merry Unbirthday for Ruby
Pure nightmare fuel, this episode
Hearing loss I have hearing loss now
I'm still confused on if the Curious Cat is _evil_
But straight up forcefully possessing someone (and with that wicked cackle) they can't really be _good,_ right?
I am curious of who this "Maker" is, but with the Cat saying that they wanted to find out why they left, they may not have purely malevolent goals?
I haven't watched the new episode as of writing this comment by the way
So hunter hows your arm
Vore wasn't on my Volume 9 Bingo card.
Honestly, Ruby should be dead when Ironwood punched her, at least if Neo's illusions accurate enough. Not to mention Ozpin's METAL cane
Neo of course held back on their power.
I love that picture of Cinder and Neo at the throne. Could this be foreshadowing future events? 🔥⚡😈⚡🔥
Little has ascended
I love Caitlin in pain😂
How did you confused Apollo meme with Cassandra? 👀
What is that video with your mom guessing the names?

I just realised, Jaune's probably going to blame himself for being too late to save Neo.
My ears.
Does this make Neo the cat in the hat? X3
1. Do you think before Neo/Ruby that the CC was trying to possess Jaune 2.unless proven wrong im instantly believing Jaune
Cat inferred that in comments.
Sorry Cal. That WASN'T Roman. That's Neo's projection of Roman. It's not actually him.
Who cares? We WON
cal, they just put her in the chair after the ruby stuff for the cat to possess her for shot composition, its not that deep good lord
This is the end of Neo.😢
Still the best episode
Neo don't have any reason to fight black she off Ruby so she don't have any thing left to do nothing to attach to
Well, Neo has become the official worst
I absolutely agree, Nuts and Dolts is canon in my opinion now. Also please for the love of the gods, SOMEONE SAVE NEO, MY BABY NEEDS LOVE
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh"
You saying you don't understand is soooo much Patrick huh I don't understand meme honestly only have been watching to see how you would react to neo being taken over and doing this atrocious stuff and see how far you would forgive horribleness honestly wasn't disappointed in that at least...
Reaction video of Murder Drones Episode 4 please?
It's just bad editing... like when Oscar landed the most telegraphed punch in the show - on Neo of all people - instead of coming around the *nearest* corner and surprising her, like he was supposed to. You were confused by bad editing, nothing more.
I'm confused on how you're confused it's not hard
Bro I swear if they kill off neo or like something happens to her I swear I’m going to be so mad bc like how can you kill off a character who doesn’t even have a voice actor for it? Like they would be so dumb to do that but not only for that reason but bc the fandom loves HER so they need to stop !!
People can die
Suicial tea goes hard.
