A little bit. You get what they call ‘applied research methods’ in paper 2. You’ll be given some data, like a chart or table and be asked to interpret it and describe some trends. This section is worth 6 marks and will be at the front of the paper. Good luck ✌️
Not really in sociological terms, but they are related so I know why you’ve made the link. Alienation is really a Marxist idea about being detached from work. Social exclusion is when certain people (usually oppressed / marginalised people) are left out of society. People in poverty or some disabled people would be described as socially excluded. I can help with a basic structure.... So you need to ultimately write 2 x PEEL paragraphs and finish with a short conclusion. You get 9 marks, meaning you need to spend 9-10 mins on your answer. You get a potential 3 marks for knowledge (AO1), 3 marks for application of knowledge (AO2), 3 marks for analysis and evaluation (AO3). This means you need to show criticisms and evaluations of the things you write about. In terms of how much to write, you're looking at the best part of 1 side of paper. In the past, 9 mark questions have been things such as: 'Assess Marxist views of social class' [9]; 'Discuss reasons why some age groups face discrimination in the UK' [9]; 'Feminism has improved life for women, but men still dominate society.' Do you agree with this view? [9]. Hope that gives you some guidance. Good luck
