  • In the penultimate episode in the series of GCSE Sociology revision videos, I finish off the topic of education by looking at differential achievement by different social groups; focusing on differences between social class, gender and ethnicity.
    The video is aimed at GCSE Sociology students but will also be useful as a recap to those studying at a higher level, particularly if you’re new to the subject. It’s 29 mins long. I hope it’s helpful for you!
    If you learn something from the video, be a pal and subscribe and share it! :-)
    You can also find me on insta, twitter, facebook, spotify and iTunes by searching 'allsociology'.

      @@allsociology the paper was really good, the 15 markers were good aswell ! i Managed to answer all of the questions. I think the 15 marker was asking if you agree that men benifit more than women in the family in contempoary uk. I forgot what the other 15 marker was tho ! And the 12 marker was on Questionaires

    What would the New Right say about education?

    • @allsociology
      @allsociology  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hey! You shouldn't need to know too much about the New Right at GCSE level, but effectively they follow similar ideas to those of functionalists.
      New Right sociologists argue that having a 'one size fits all' approach to schooling (i.e. mixed ability) is not efficient as it never helps to stretch the brightest pupils. Instead, the most able pupils should be prioritised as they will go on to get the best jobs in society, and will ultimately be the next generation of leaders.
      I hope that makes sense!?

    what do postmodernists think the role of education is

    • @allsociology
      @allsociology  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey! For GCSE and A-Level sociology you don't really need to know about the postmodern view of education so don't worry about it if you're studying for either of those qualifications!
