For me, Hikoki is always the answer. Only wish they offered more tools. No wrong choice here btw. Great video as usual. That 60v DW is a monster too.

My dads been a fan boi of green ever since the cassette battery days....im on red myself ....but love the green and teal impacts are the most comfortable to use since their so light...
I recently got the dcg418 DeWalt flexvolt which is the slightly upgraded one and it is an absolute beast. I managed to grind out the old cement for re pointing (UK) on a full house using two of the 9ah batteries, they are such a handy tool to have! 👍😀

Love my Hikoki !!! That variable speed feature is a GAME changer for other applications ! Hikoki knows what they are doing RIGHT !!!
And to be fair the hikoki 36 v 2.5 amp is 18v 5 amp when converted down so it's great for that size .
that variable speed makes it better to use than a bosh German one work had me use which surprised me as my first pick as a teen was the light switch germany 🇩🇪 made one but i couldn't afford it at the time ( 2002 ish ) . im not looking to replace my old trusty one that got stolen/broken but this time a cordless unit

@@bandit911 ended up with the mekida cordless variable speed 6" grinder no quick change disk unit as the dealer said in my options that i wanted did have that QC check box to click off. not a bad peace but for me i already had the 2018-up 18V line in the impact driver for automotive work and it saved me some money ( bare tool was under 200 usd to home/out the door and isn't a daily usage tool for me but not having one puts me in a bind as i end up using one every 90D ish or less for 10m or more, and use it around the home for things like sharpening shovels or hoes ect. kinda wish it had a setting for exact RPM/and or could switch off the brake, as my old one i would turned it all the way down and bumping the switch to get a proper edge without it catching/push back/hurting me/braking equipment ect of the tool, im mean i like the brake on it but that makes some random rare jobs a little harder but still easier than full kill mode of a bosh but added software say by a phone 📱application would be nice ) for now otherwise i would have gone for the 40V plus the quick disk changer just to tryout to see if i like it and 🤷♂ in my area no hikoki dealership's
still like having no cord to trip on or mange i will see how it does in titer or above my head hight area's i may change my mind about that but sofar i wouldn't go back and im liking it out of the 2 times i have used it sofar for under a hour or 2 of run time/ 1/2 battery 3A. but i still miss my red and silver with black lettering Chicago brand tool still probably partially out of habit lol 😂 but this new one feels more balanced and not nose 👃heavy and more easygoing to control

I must say though I've used the Milwaukee with a 6.0 standard and a high output 9.0 and 12ah in the field and I would never choose a standard battery it's a total different beast with the higher outputs.

To me Makita in general feels the best in the hand in terms of ergonomics and balance and the most reliable in my experience.

Great video as usual I was surprised how badly the little Milwaukee performed I have the same one but with the break and it definitely benefits from the high output, can push it harder without stalling out. However the newest Milwaukee that is intended as a 5”or 6” is far more powerful I have that one too and it’s in a different class. There is a gen2 of the smaller grinder coming later this year also which I suspect will be much more capable.

Used an angle grinder (Ryobi) for the first time yesterday. Quite a scary experience, but got the job done.
Usually is the first few times using it, after that you stop paying attention to the sparks, keep you warm if anything 😂👍
Great vid 👍 I dont suppose you'd know the max cutting depth on these do you? (From motor head to the edge of cutting disc) It would be a nice comparison to see which tool gets the most out of the discs, as some have larger heads than others.
Use the Milwaukee one a lot with 12.0Ah battery as it is very hungry on power. Can't wait to put the XGT grinder to work soon.
Great video and very well done. I would have liked to see the Dewalt with the 9 amp hour (3 amp hours for 60v) just because that’s what mine came with and I feel like mine doesn’t stall like this one did. Wouldn’t have been all that fair to give the Dewalt this advantage but the 9 amp hour flex volt is one of dewalts best battery’s. Again great video!!
Thank you! I was thinking of going Flexvolt as my system for more powerfull tools as I already have some DW 18V (and a whole lot more LXT) but the DW looks bloated/chubby and the Makita one a lot more slim and like the LXT that I am used to.
It will be XGT in my shop, when they have "buy one, get one for free" next time.
We have the Dewalt and I love it. Iv put great big 7 1/2 Dimond cutting wheels on it cutting cinder blocks and it is skookum as frig! I however wouldn't recommend this as the cutting wheel is very close to your trigger finger.

I've found that using a Flexvolt battery on my 18v grinder (DCG406) greatly, like seriously greatly, improves its performance even though nothing in the literature, or specs, says it should - I'm obviously a bit late with this but it would have been interesting to see that added to your test suite, I mean... what if the 54v grinder wasn't actually any better than the 18v, and the real oomph just came from the battery used?

Another point for AC adapter capable
My two sons one a fabricator the other a heavy equipment mechanic say the AC adapter is a must for any serious grinding as all of the battery powered grinders can only handle smaller jobs due to batteries getting really hot and ruing battery life if used constantly on heavy workload-yes they have experience with all the colors(Blue, red, yellow, orange and green) Green wins
I'm surprised if they ran into that issue using dewalts 60v grinder. I've bagged on mine all day cutting steel and concrete and it never got too hot (unlike my 18v).

18v makita brushless grinder starts for a second and stops, what could be the problem. Thaks in advance for your help.
Please test the bosch Profactor 18V Spitfire GWS 18V -13CN, for its a monster! I use it with a 6" diamond blade to cut 3CM granite and quartz, and the grinder cuts thru everything like butter without stalling, at all! I, also, use the Makita with 3.0 ah battery and it's good to but it stalls sometimes and the batteries don't last long...the Bosch has every feature from bluetooth to vibration reduction handle like the Hikoki grinder, thanks for such fun an great reviews mate!

Have been hunting for a hikoki 36v grinder for some time, looked at ryobi but 18v dont cut it on grinders, need to get a G3613db and get rid of my old Hitachi (koki) 18v.

Regis G-If u watch the video and read about my two sons "real world use" it's obvious which grinder has a greater duty cycle and has the AC adapter option-there is no comparison-if u want to compare it vs other plug in grinder duty cycles I'm sure you'll find it has a very good duty cycle rating since my two sons use it ALL DAY when they are fabricating!

Pretty close to spot on IMO. thanks for validating my waiting for the Makita 18v variable speed. Only to end up getting the mean ass multivolt. Though ide have no issues using any of the others. I would like to see the hilti and last but should not be least(though I fear it may perform as such) Metabo brushless.
Better off the older brushed Metabo cordless grinder. At least they make it at their German factory for the money. Don’t know the others here on review but the brushless Metabo is many steps below the Makita. Also, if you own any Metabo grinder parts/accessories, don’t expect them to fit the cordless. It’s almost like they know it’s cheap garbage. ;)

I’ve had the flexvolt since it came out and had no problems. Although a 9 or 12 amp completely changes the tool... the 6 amp doesn’t have the right tech onboard for powerful tools..
Yea i hate the 6ah flexvolt. They run your flexvolt tools but with a sacrifice to power. I dont even have any of them anymore. I got strictly all 12ah flexvolts and 8ah 20v batteries. And a few slim 4s but not many
I think I was the only one to guess hikoki would win in your post yesterday. I class the hikoki as much the same power as a rat tail makita electric grinder. Also the auto feature is for battery longevity I think.. i absolutely hate it though, especially on the multitool.

Looks like Milwaukee is incorporating some overload protection in their batteries like Makita. It seems a bit oversafe to me tho. They all seem very nice besides the red one. The Hikoki looks very good, but I hate those paddle switches on grinders. I like the Makita but I have been using their cordless 18v for over a decade. Really Nice Comparison.!

Impressed with the "safety" jandals, I'm living in Australia now so I was wearing "safety" thongs whilst cleaning up a barbecue plate on the ground. The sanding pad on my 9 inch (240volt) grinder disintegrated hitting me on both ankles. I thought my legs were broken. Never found all the pieces of the pad, but it had no signs of being perished when fitted and had always been kept in a cupboard out of sunlight. So treat them with respect and wear boots now.....mostly anyway!!!!!!
A honest comparison which RED doesn't just happen to beat everything else with ease 🤔 I'm a Bosch Professional fan with HiKoki as my second choice.
That's the old budget Milwaukee grinder. There's an updated one and a more powerful one which would be the right one to compete to the XGT.

Damn I have a Milwaukee fuel impact drill and it is amazing I was thinking getting the Milwaukee since I already have batteries and I really like Milwaukee but it looks like it’s struggling compared to the others.

Shame the dewalt dcg418 came out around the time of this release. Several hundred watts more power on a bigger battery (9/12/15ah)
In the losers defense these test are not truly comprehensive because it is a single unit coming from a unique store. so although large scale manufacturing aims for perfect replication every time for all units it commonly fails hence warranty’s. For the test to be true , you would have to obtain multiple units from different sources . But who tf has the time and money for that !?

i own the 5' milwuakee and ive used the 6" dewalt at work, both using 9.0s theyre pretty comparable, dewalt does have a slight edge, milwaukee does have a 6" grinder ive never seen one in person but apparently its a fair leap up, i have some old 3.0xc batteries and theyre miserable in the grinder cuts the power in half vs my new HO 6.0 8.0 and 12.0s
honestly the milwuakee is a great tool my only gripe is the rpm, id like to see 10k or more rpm in a cordless grinder i find slower rpms make it harder to get straight cut lines and it wears the disk faster.. dont tell mum but i took the guard off my milwuakee and almost exclusively use 7" disks on it, it pulls 7" disks awesome and they perform much better as the 7-8k rpm range is far more appropriate for 7" disks vs 5" which like 11k rpm
i had the brushed 4.5" milwuakee grinder initially it was udder trash, stalled all the time and i let all the smoke out of it in a week, took it back and got the fuel model that was 4-5 years ago and ive been thrashing on that same grinder this whole time never an issue and i beat the tar out of it
amazing that its at the bottom of the rung currently were all pretty lucky to have such great cordless tools now, milwuakee will no doubt come out with a gen 2 that kicks the others to the curb and then theyll release new ones and so and so on until a handheld angle grinder can drag you across the room and grind all day on one bar of battery

the thing is, Milwaukee claims they don't need more v's. the other brands didn't do it for power as much as they did for better battery working life (from in the box to in the garbage). as you could tell withe the battery over heating.

Yes, exactly! The more powerful the battery and the load it can handle, the less stressed it gets running hard. If the battery is always jogging, not sprinting, it can go much further while using less energy to get there. 👍✌

While essentially unavailable, there is a new Milwaukee 5" Fuel grinder.
That grinder you tested is one of the longest made fuel tools Milwaukee has that hasn't been updated.
I got the hilti AG 4S a-22 and I really like it a lot. In my opinion it’s the best in terms of battery life, durability and quality plus the price for a cordless grinder it was extremely competitive.

In my experience Makita has better quality and durability in demanding conditions e.g construction site. And I like Makita's sound better, especially 18V, it's lower pitched at least for my ear
Makita vs Hikoki in my experience the difference in build quality is neglible. Makita impacts tend to break/lose that bit of plastic right around chuck, and my Hitachi broke the trigger lock on the selector. I can still choose the different directions, but cant lock it out in the center. Hi-Koki is the only one i know of with an IP56 rated impact as well.
Company ive worked for had all Makita tools, i personally own pretty much only Hitachi/Metabo HPT/Hi Koki.

You really are upset that the Milwaukee isn't as good as the other brands.
Milwaukee’s High Output Batteries are incredibly picky about which tool they decide to boost power to. If you were to use it on a Brushed Hackzall then it would be incredibly helpful, and I exclusively use them on their Super Hawgs. They do boost the power to those tools, but sometimes they just decide to do… nothing at all. On my hand drill, Brushless Sawzall, and router, they do basically nothing. From what I’ve noticed they perform the best on brushed tools, and on tools that just need every drop of juice they can take, such as the high power, high torque, and low battery life super hawg. Overall I only recommend the batteries if you’re using a tool like that, or if they cost the same as the non-HO model (6Ah and 6Ah HO cost basically the same)
Edit: The 3Ah HO is actually really good though for your hand tools. Makes them weigh closer to a 12V, while also giving you all the power you’ll ever need.
I’m considering getting the 6ah battery for my right angle die grinder. I’ve got a 3ah but it often stalls, I don’t push hard or anything I just use it as a scotch brite sander.

I give all the model numbers at the beginning of the video but as a clue the 418 isn't a 5 inch grinder it's a 6 inch grinder and it isn't available in much of the world including here.
@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL in America even the 414 is a 6" grinder. So over there the 414 is only a 5" grinder is what your saying? Also didnt realize the 418 wasnt widely available. That sucks cuz there is def a step up especially since it comes with the 9ah with 21700 cells AND the 1 battery kit is the same price as the 414 1 battery kit but better grinder and battery

I want asking in that typical TH-cam a/hole way or to be a DeWalt fanboy and claim that you hadn't tested the top offering I was just genuinely interested to know.
I watch thought videos because I know they are proper product reviews conducted fairly. I wasn't trying to knock your video bud. These are all outstanding tools. 👍
@@bossmanz28 here in the UK both the dcg414 and the dcg418 are both 125mm/5 inch grinders. Are you sure that they are six inch over there in the US as it seems a bit strange. 👍😀
It seems the 414 and 418 are marketed as different sizes in different countries. And the 418 has just been released here. I should have waited another couple of weeks before I made this review. Oh well shit happens. Thanks for commenting and watching.

I use the dewalt and Milwaukee daily. The dewalt is by far so good in every respect it will change your life. The switch is extremely comfortable. It has bind control. When I use the Milwaukee especially the paddle switch ... I want to throw it away.
Bind control will stop grinding when operator binds the blade. It's for safety. It works well

@@philipjohn4149 They all have that. The blue one and green one have a soft start, brake, bind control, overload protection, and zero volt restart protection. The red one has all of that except the brake. The blue and green can either be bought with a paddle switch or locking slide switch.
The reason the DeWalt has the trigger is because it's technically a 6" grinder that comes with an optional 5" guard.
If you get the larger 7" or 9" of the other brands, they also have a trigger like the DeWalt, and a larger motor which keeps the blade further from your hand.
@@histguy101 good point about type of switch for hand to blade proximity. I still prefer mostly all dewalt grinders for ergonomics and power. 4.5 inch to 7 inch.

What tools does the UK/AUS have that US does not?
@@danielbabcock7004 Historically, and especially the years leading up to the name change, it seemed that Hitachi/Metabo HPT was focused more on the global market than the US market. It seemed like you could find some outdated “essential” cordless tools (drivers, saws, etc) in the US, but anything new or lesser used was nowhere to be found. In the past, tools such as the new cordless routers or the 36v cordless impact wrenches might not have have made it to the US market. As it is, the tools are released under the HiKoki name overseas first, and months later they might make it to the US. Since the name change, Metabo HPT seems to be doing a better job of getting things to the US market faster and more frequently, which I’m thankful for.
