    I have been out of the car audio field for almost 20 years now and Peter's channel dropped into my feed. I have watched almost all of the videos here and want to say thank you to you Peter, I have found the motivation to build a quality system again. Your no bullshit attitude towards creating top quality builds reminds me that people can still appreciate what I enjoyed back in the 90's. Please keep loving what you do and I will see you next time on PSSound...

    Your video's always give me ideas, and always informational. I've actually thought about doing an metal amp rack build and I have a small question in regards to doing so, it might be a bit of a dumb question but I would rather ask someone who has the experience. So my question is seeing as a lot of amplifier manuals say not to mount the amp directly to metal when mounting them to eliminate possible floor noise, did you use rubber washers in between the chassis to rack & mounting hardware to rack to isolate it from grounding out so to speak?

    • @pssound9749
      @pssound9749  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      rps13joe we didn’t isolate in this case and had zero issue. However, it’s a valid question, which could be shared on forums, so more experienced people, especially some amp manufacturers could chime in too.

    Hi Peter. Did you ever try to take high levels inputs from Harman Kardon system in BMW same year as this is? Is it possible to get good signal out of it without helix ssdmi25? As this is now out of stock for longer time. Is that signal in from HK very bad?

    I really enjoyed this install, even though I haven’t gotten serious about car audio in about 15 or more years, the video has given me a lot of ideas that I’d like to see in my own car one day. I am also reminded on how complicated but fascinating car audio is compared to home theater and audio. I have 5 subwoofers and 11 different speakers in my theater system and it was no where as complicated as this install. Would’ve loved to hear the end result, awesome work! One question though, I noticed that you decided to keep the under seat subs, is this because you are able to EQ the deficiencies out? I am actually thinking of replacing mine for the Audioson s in hopes of more mid bass kick.

    • @pssound9749

    Insane, I love it. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I have a BMW 740i E38 with 2 JBL W12 GTI sealed. You make me think about it and I want to try IB. Are 2 units of JBL W12 GTI suitable for IB?
    Best Regards from Malaga (SPAIN)

    • @pssound9749
      @pssound9749  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jorge Torrejón i’d always use as much cone area as possible, but i guess it’s also about expectations and requirements. Some people are happy even with a single 12” in trunk IB, but some others want the dynamics of 2x15-18”.
      JBL GTIs have always been used around the SQ circles in IB, but it’s definitely not an application for those who focus on output. They can certainly be louder in the main passband of 30-60Hz in a box, but IB is always more linear, less boomy and has way better extension under 30Hz all the way down to single digits when done right.

    • @scarolo
      @scarolo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pssound9749 thanks a lot for the answer. I am a SQ fan, so I don't want a boomy system. I have Helix tube amps for my mids and tweeets. I just want more extension in the low frequencies, because even with 2 12" GTIs, it is really difficult to make the bass get into the cabin. It is curious how much isolated the trunk is in this BMW. The rear seats can not fold down, i have only the hole of the rear armrest, the hole for the skies

    • @pssound9749
      @pssound9749  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi,
      Cheapest option is to take signal from OEM bass drivers from underneath the front seats and wire those lines to an active sub. Not quite what we do as that way have no control over the sub.
      We’d rather add a DSP amplifier replacing the OEM amp and a monoblock, so everything could be tuned properly with a laptop and RTA.

    • @pssound9749
      @pssound9749  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Option A:
      You connect the Fiio to the HU, then yes, but then you could use a phone too, no need for a Fiio
      Option B:
      If Fiio is connected to the DSP directly, then you have no steering wheel functions and there is no simple solution for it or rather any. You have to use the controller of the DSP or the volume on the Fiio.
      You can still use the Factory system simultaneously for satnav, just keep some of the OEM speakers.
