Congratulations on the new addition. She looks a nice little honest tractor to be fair. I hope you will do a series on the engine rebuild. I’ve got a Leyland 253 with a Perkins 3 cylinder in it, it breathes very heavy and pranks like a sieve, but to be fair even in the coldest of temps it fires up easily with no heat at all (doesn’t have a heater plug of thermo start)
Another great vintage Thursday video Dan. Just love these videos. Keep them coming, they are top notch, very informative and educational for a bit of an old tractor nutt like myself. Happy new year to you.
Happy new year Dan. Glad to see the o look d girl has found a new home and you are gonna use it for bits n bobs around the farm. Looking forward to seeing the developments 👍
Massey Ferguson 35 and 135 are true small workhorses and legends. They just keep on working. 135 is THE most produced tractor EVER. You still get all the parts and at reasonable prices. Is still produced in India, I think. It has now surpassed VW Beetle in production run time and maybe even numbers. Something was done right. Harry Ferguson taught it should be repairable in the middle of a field.
Good video Dan - put in a new heater plug and get a new air cleaner top and then use it. That’ll be better than any rebuild. That engine sounds sweet and has good oil pressure so, how much better will it be if you throw a £1,000 at it to rebuild the engine?
Machine timelines are good - on a theme like drills over the years (with tractors pulling them) foragers, trailers (size & number of) etc. Sad? Me? hahaha
Luckily, our MF 135 start at -10 degrees C like nothing without using the intake glow plug, let alone block heater (has one). Doesn't seem to be breathing much either, doesn't use much oil etc. When warm, starts pretty much first turn.
Would be VERY interesting if you tried RVS engine treatment, to see if it really "restores" worn engines "back to spec" and improves compression and running with that "nanoceramic coating", as they claim. Expensive stuff tho. The only danger seems to be it might get all the dirt and gunk moving and block oil passages. Unlikely, I think, at least if you don't use modern synthetic oil that has more detergents.
Hello sir, i have the same tractor Massey Ferguson 35 same mask and motor, from an unknown year of production. It is imported and i want to know how much kilowatts is it? There aren't any marks, thank you.
Happy new year Dan to you and all the family! The first tractor I drove was a Massey Ferguson 35X when I started work aged 15 on a dairy farm. The rest of the tractor's, a Leyland 344, David Brown and an utterly horrid Universal are not memorable for good reasons! 🤣🤣
Glad you’ve got the tractor now, looks like it’s a A3 152 like a super dexta engine being indirect. I always had it in my head the 35x had the AD3 engine. Learn somthing new every day 😂
Crackin video Dan 👍 nice original looking tractor added to the fleet, thought she sounded well on the slurry pump and from what i could see shr wasn't blowing a lot of smoke which i was surprised at particularly as it had done no serious work for years 🤔 Happy Healthy Prosperous New Year to all the family 👍
Nice video on the 35x .I have a ferguson tef 20 that has oil coming out of the exhaust elbow where the exhaust sits . It hasn't been used for a long time so I'm wondering what should I do with it .Any help would be appreciated .
Hi There Dan .I just come across a massey ferguson 35x that has been sitting outside for a few years . I was just wondering if the engine is seized and what's involved in involved in getting it unseized .Any advice would be much appreciated .
For a vintage Thursday could you go through the hosier parlour if you’ve still got it saw it on your farm flix video I’d find it interesting after reading his book and getting the literature on the parlours and bails they were making at that time
Great to see the old girl has still got life in her my dad gave mum one as a wedding gift and they was married in 1963 still going When dad and mum both died in 2020 I have it now in the shed but have no body to hand on to
It’s nice to see a 35x in pretty much original condition and that hasn’t been messed about with. I recall my next door neighbour getting a new one. Even though I wasn’t supposed to i really did covet it.
Congratulations on buying the 35X, it does sound much better 😊 that's how many 35's you've got now ?? 🤔, I thought you were not buying anymore tractors 😁 would love to hear what your dad's implement stories are, did you have a dreadful Howard 150 spreader on your farm ??🙄 terrific video Dan thank you.🙂👍
There was a Howard here, don't know what number though. Back in those days you needed the right sprockets to match the tractor, maybe yours wasn't matched to the tractor power?
Our case it was either sting, greasy dung, or a way to hide either a goat 3040 or a Found on rubbish dump 7600 when the wind blew the right direction to hide who was driving. 🙄👍
Well done for saving the 35x Dan, Could you and Dad do a video on the Massey Ferguson Combines you have had ? as I grew up around Massey Ferguson 780 Specials, 515s and 625s.
I have a TO35 gas model that had sat for a dozen years outside. when first started and for quite a while compression was lower range. Now after stints garden plowing, snow plowing, brush hogging over the last two years I noticed the compression has improved much higher. The rings must have finally loosened up. Your 'new' tractor may be the same.
When we used to farm years ago grandad had a 35X with a cab, and roll bar (regulation of the time) it was so slow to start and in the end we used to just roll it down the road and bump start it😇🤪 the double clutch was very useful though.
Hi Dan, Quality Tractor parts here from Ireland. Great to see your restoration project. We would like to send you some goodies free of charge to help out. Could you reply with your email address Thanks QTP

My MF35 has not started well since I picked it up at an auction. I am starting to work on it and your series has been a big help. Thank you.

Heater plug is on order.
Trust you to go buy it 😆. I’ll look forward to seeing the rebuild that’s gonna come 😁👌
Good video Dan - look forward to see progress on the overhaul

Good news you have bought it, the old tractors still have their place on a farm. Sweet.! 🙂👍
Happy new year Dan to you and yours. Wish you and family all the best for 2024 regards 😊😊❤
Well done Dan nice to keep her in the village 👍
Well wear Dan. The 35x was a great little tractor. Best of luck with it.

I had a feeling it would be staying with you somehow or other!
Nice video on the 35x .I have a ferguson tef 20 that has oil coming out of the exhaust elbow where the exhaust sits . It hasn't been used for a long time so I'm wondering what should I do with it .Any help would be appreciated .
Try it with some hard work.
Hi There Dan .I just come across a massey ferguson 35x that has been sitting outside for a few years . I was just wondering if the engine is seized and what's involved in involved in getting it unseized .Any advice would be much appreciated .
The easiest way to try will be remove the starter and lever against the ring gear with a pry bar
always knew you'd own it good on you m8
Great acquisition! A very original tractor, should be a good project!
For a vintage Thursday could you go through the hosier parlour if you’ve still got it saw it on your farm flix video I’d find it interesting after reading his book and getting the literature on the parlours and bails they were making at that time
We only have the shell left, all the interior is stripped out.
@@CowfarmerDan I see makes sense if it was replaced bit of a shame interesting piece of kit he had some interesting ideas on farm management hosier
Seeing and hearing it on the slurry stirrer surprised me how hard it was working the tractor.
There's 3 blades inside the tank, approx 18" diameter.
back in the day we had a mf 165 and when we had it on a propellor agitator it used to put the 165 on its knees ..........!
I'm not surprised dan great video always
Dad had a 35x back in the day... always lampered in mud and never much brakes 😮
If i remember they were a bit prone to piston liner trouble 😕
Great to see the old girl has still got life in her my dad gave mum one as a wedding gift and they was married in 1963 still going When dad and mum both died in 2020 I have it now in the shed but have no body to hand on to

They only came here as collectors items.
Good man well done 😊😊😊 keep the old ones going top bloke 😊😊

great looking wee tractor, glad it's found a good home.
Excellent work...Nice new project...
good vid dan 👍 those chimneys look extremely tall in the background, never seen any like that before
They're bulk feed bins.

Ah, sorry.
The farmhouse was thatched many years ago so that may be the reason.
Great video
The best number of members on a committee is an odd number, and that number is one.
I like that, very true 😁
At the end’ Put the stop in 🤣
It usually helps 😆
How long had you it on pump
Not long, maybe 15 minutes.
It was too much for it really.
I have a Massey 135 and the hydraulics are very slow have you any ideas what could be wrong
I have replaced them last week
Where is the response control set to?
