The battle of Britain, was a great movie, Michael Kane and many other great actors starred in it, the cinematography was excellent, the late 007 movie director Guy Hamilton directed the movie
I agree, and I watch it about once a month. But one thing I don't understand about Luftwaffe HE-111 tactics and doctrine: why did the HE-111s break formation and disperse rather than staying in a cohesive battle formation when they were attacked?
Forgive me, I don't know beans bout video games and I don't play them. Even back in the 80s I had no interest in Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Galaga, or whatever. During late 1944, the Luftwaffe had seriously toned down on bombing missions, if not completely ended their bombing campaign by then. They were now fighting a defensive war on all fronts AND Luftwaffe bomber production halted permanently in 1944 to focus on their emergency fighter program to try and turn the tide in their favor. Nice vid and graphics, its all just for fun anyways.
P51D vs He111. Mismatched enough to make you wish the bomber could survive due to the fighter pilot escorting it back to base, a la the legendary escort of a cripped B17 across the channel by a heroic Bf109 pilot.

They would want to deny oil to their enemies. The Allies did sometimes have fuel shortages - for example the advance in eastern France stalled because of that in the late summer/autumn of 1944. This was despite laying the PLUTO pipeline across the English Channel. The Germans' shortages were more critical, however.
When you went into battle without an escort I knew it was a one way mission. Lol.
At the end you dont hear the plane exploding for a second after it crashes because its far away. Thats a very nice detail they added to the game.
Yes! I remarked this, too...
The golden rule I learnt from Il2 1946
If you see fire dont hesitate to jump out...
If you are at high altitude, consider your options. You may be able to put out the fire by speedy dive especially with fighters.
Could not expect much less on a SOLO bomber run
Ironic that the mission was to destroy oil reserves when one thing Germany was desperately short of was oil....
