      Southern, My late husband was a double amputee, in a wheelchair. As a chef he was crushed he couldn't be in the kitchen anymore. I agree the former kitchen was set for a wheelchair bound person or a little person. Loved that backsplash carried over to the plain wall.

    I liked the color of blue on house so much better. Why not see if sold with the blue or what the buyers would have liked better first instead of spending more unneccessary money that in my opinion did not make it look better?

      They didn't have to, the paint place made a mistake and covered the costs to repaint.

      I feel if the paint store made a mistake in mixing the color they should have paid the $1000 to re-paint! BTW, $1000 seems really inexpensive to paint an exterior!!!!

    Open wood shelving would look nice on that blank kitchen wall. Good call on repainting! That blue dated the house and made it look so dark and eerie. What I find interesting is the high price for things like the kitchen and bathroom renos are accepted right away and then the arguments happen over the smaller costs, like $100 or $1000. The staggers really do a great job.

    So many California homes have such blah exteriors. I guess simple and plain was less expensive in the '50s, '60's and '70s just as it is now. Perhaps they are cookie cutter tract homes constructed in neighborhoods that were developed by huge commercial construction companies. A limited choice of floor plans and exteriors for homebuyers to choose from resulted in bigger profits for the builders.

    Frank the Contractor being making up his own prices...

    • @happydays1336
      @happydays1336 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      With experience a contractor knows what the cost per square foot is for different remodeling projects. If his prices are too high he'll lose a lot of clients and if the prices are too low he'll go bankrupt.
      My husband and I have bought 6 different homes over the past 40 years--two were custom built, two we bought from different builders in condo developments that were in the beginning phases of construction, and two older homes--one of which we live in now that we've made cosmetic upgrades to. By now I have a fairly good idea of what many things will cost.
      The very first home we bought was remodeled by a house flipper, but no one at that time (1979) probably even knew what a flipped house was.

    • @lisas8244
      @lisas8244 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You have to do that when you don't know who will be buying the home and what colors they love. You can always add your favorite colors in artwork, upholstery, accents and accessories. New home builders do the same thing with Spec homes. If it is a custom home builder he or she can consult with clients on colors and surfaces because it is their home from the beginning.

      Some people have a good sense of design and some not so much. Tarek is great on the business end but Christina shines in her vision of the space and what materials will accomplish obtaining the fastest sale and the most profit. Christina knows exactly what people expect and are looking for in houses of any particular price range. She is confident in her design instincts and Tarek definitely appreciates her talent and contributions. You sound pouty and jealous.
