I train co-workers without additional pay however it is part of our possible duties, it's inside our normal work hours, the "training" takes all of 20 minutes and it means I don't have management screaming in my ear. It works out :P

What you meant to say is something more honest, such as "this would inconvenience *me personally* and I'd rather inconvenience someone else."

I would say it helps a whole lot to have solid savings to back up the slow times, though, when you go it alone. 38 successful years; now in a reasonably comfortable retirement. Try it; if it doesn't work, you'll be right where you were when you were looking for a job and you can then commence with that if you have to.

She 'couldn't give me the situation or the person, but she still tried to push a reprimand. The supervisor backed me up when Isaid there was no way for me to correct a behavior or situation if she was not giving me the particulars.
