  • OK, it's our fault. We knew the rules going in so when we get burnt, we can't blame Copart. Truthfully flolks! We have already factored in things like this over the long haul.

Yes, you knew a transmission can always be a problem since you can't drive it, but don't blame yourself! Anyone who buys from Copart understands this.

You got a good niche type of channel here. Keep it up !
I'm not into auto salvaging. But a good way to check is hitting the transmission drain plug and take some of the fluid. Obviously there's time constrains but nonetheless informative

If it's mechanical damage, would fluid show anything? Thanks for watching

@@DJMedia21 if you don't see any metal in the oil , you can take it to someone with the equipment to test oil they can tell you if the oil has high metal contamination. It'll tell more or less how good the trans is looking

@@MrWashesp I don't think many people would do something like this when they are just checking a vehicle to bid on. Time and expense wouldn't seem to justify doing it. We checked and saw the vehicle move forward and reverse and we couldn't move it more than a couple of feet. I just think this is something pretty much anyone who wants to bid on salvage cars has to deal with. Thanks for watching.

So what did you guys do with this Lexus?

It's my daily drive. We had to put a new tranny in it, but motor runs perfect and has over 230,000 miles. We make 2 or 3 roundtrips from Reno to Sacramento a month just doing car shows. I was pissed when I bought it, but glad I put in a new transmission and everything is fine. Will eventually get our money back for the tranny the more we drive it. Thanks for watching

Its cuz of weak trans rubber seals inside the trans. But its hard for diy to do.

Got to remember, motors in these cars last a long time. Not unusual to get 4 or 500K out of them so we figured the engine was good for another 200K at least and worth taking a chance on.

@@DJMedia21 I have 269k miles , kept up with all the transmissions and the front and rear crank case gear oil changes and it’s been a runner for me . I bought mine @250k miles and thankful it’s been a reliable day to day driver while taking me to LA & San Diego comfortably .

One of the problems with buying from Copart. You can start them and put them in gear, but can't test drive them. Goes with the territory, nothing you can do about except 🙏
