While I disagree with a lot of your points, there is one key change that was seemingly so small that no one talks about. It had such a shockwave effect on the skill ceiling of the game and people either refuse to talk about it or ignore it because it "feels good." *Turbo Building absolutely killed the entire idea Fortnite was built around.* Fortifying a location and holding it down until you need to move, or until you are forced to moved. Early on Fortnite didn't have Turbo Building, so if you saw someone building at an increased rate, you knew you were going to lose, they just understood how to use the mechanics too well. Which is okay because that means they practiced or had a natural talent. But, some time later, Epic introduced Turbo Building, effectively killing the entire idea of actual thought behind placing a build. Yes, Playground and Creative contributed in their own ways to the skill gap of the player base, but make no mistake, *Turbo Building* made little jimmy on the same skill as Ninja in terms of building. It's why players like Myth "fell off" so quickly. Those players were pillars of skill for quick thinking and key presses, making every build piece matter with every piece having purpose or thought behind it. Now, all you need to do is hold a button and wait have an opportunity to edit onto someone and hit the easiest shot of your life. Turbo Building killed Fortnite's intended playstyle of casually providing cover from shots, but also containing an environment where "try hards" or more skilled players are respected. Now, even I could "crank" nearly any build, which back then, would have people believe you were the best player in the world. It causes 'skilled' players to be often laughed at or called try hards. We took it too far with how much we wanted serotonin from 'hitting a clip,' pushing away those that made it a fun experience, the casuals. Fortnite is no longer a building game, it's a game where you hold a button to build, to then edit those builds so you can eventually shoot your enemy, or waste all of your materials trying to do so. Fortnite is now an editing game, not a building game. Yes, Epic made some mistakes, but the natural progression of skill was killed the moment Turbo Building was introduced, not Playground or Creative. EDIT: typos and slight additions to the text
I honestly think editing builds is the problem. It's not difficult to actually build, but rather edit & that's where most of the skill comes from, how you can outedit & trap your opponent. I'd honestly be down for an LTM with turbo building & editing off, I think that could be a good medium for true casual players if done correctly OR add a delay to editing builds like in STW.
No. If I wanted spam clicking to be a mechanic I would play minecraft PVP. Spam clicking shouldn't be a barrier to entry. That's just another barrier to entry for competitive play. It can also cause more physical problems with your hand. The solution is simple: Remove skill based matchmaking, fix ranked mode, and a new LTM for casual play every week. That's it. Boom, perfect. If you don't like getting dunked on by crazy sweats then do ranked. But skill based matchmaking is boring. I like sometimes vsing players 10x better then me and players 10x worse then me, it is fun! Isn't this the entire point of a battle royale!?
Warning ⚠️ very long comment I fully believe slow builds should’ve been added instead no builds personally, no builds may have solved the issue of “sweats” in some ways but they did by basically alienating bad players from the main mechanic of the game. Which I think is terrible and has led to many players who want to get back into building feeling nervous about it and has also created a petty divide among builders and zero builders on social media. And now next week a bunch of old players are gonna come back and wanna skybase and do trap towers and all the things they used to do and realise they can only keep up in essentially a watered down version of the game. And then there’s ranked or arena, which I think was handled well during chapter 2 with them splitting loot pools and adding siphon, all they needed to do was add good cosmetic rewards honestly. Fast forward to 2023, they won’t even split the build/no build loot pools when the two modes play completely differently, with build mode now having an empty trap slot and epic games adding items clearly designed for one mode or the other into both, let alone splitting ranked/ unranked. All of these decisions have led to the most unskillful version of the game we’ve ever witnessed in my opinion, Mobility is now a requirement instead of an option and is either practically infinite (katana) or extremely easy to get (shockwaves from ammo boxes using on the go bag), epic basically gaslighted us into thinking grey smgs that do 200+ dps are balanced, there are busted scoped rifles with minimal recoil, the shotguns are incredibly weak (a gold pump this season does a max of 165) and over the year there’s been a bunch of perks that are literally just dumb broken (mythic grab bag, storm mark, forecast, on the go bag, danger hero, scoped salvo, explosive surplus, demolitions munitions) all so the average player can keep up if they don’t want to be completely alienated from the main mechanic of the game but it doesn’t work because good players can use all of this too.
he think current fortnite is the most unskilled version we have seen what is bro on about. he really think t1 pros are are getting angry because thier dying to smgs
honestly being a new player is a horrendous experience rn. being boxed is SOOOO annoying. I think to even out the playing field they should remove editing or let everyone edit every structure
This is so true. As a fortnite "veteran" I have seen all of these first hand. I love this game but I hope this problem doesnt keep occuring in the coming years. I would like to say though. I used to like the overpowered things when I was younger and less skilled, but now that I am more skilled and actally quite good at the game, I cant stand how annoying it is to constantly come across bots because it makes the game feel so lifeless and too easy.
I'm good at the game and love over powered weapons they are so fun but balanced. I also hate bots the way they crouch go left then right there moves are hard to understand because I'm trying to aim in front of them because a normal player would keep going that way but the bot just goes side to side some thing else I hate is that they miss a few shots and then they activate aim bot for a few seconds they hit ever shot
Good vid, wished you would’ve talked about the turbo build nerf back in season X that got insta reverted bc everyone hated it lmao Not much they can really do about the mechanic atp, without making it feel like dogshit to use
Most of this would be easily solved if epic could just separate the loot pools. You casuals can have your spray meta and mythics, and they can make comp actually balanced again. One perfect example of this was the rocket ram change. It stayed the same in pubs, but in tournaments it only had 3 uses.
they did that, it worked. then one day they just gave up on it and with ranked basically just made pubs 2, im guessing to try to get more people into rank
its not 100% the sweats fault though, as everytime fort seperates swears from non sweats, they just bring them together again, usually making both sides mad
@@coolguy14604 let everything be even. When everything is even, everyone has a fair shake. this is great point i feel like no turbo building as a game mode, like no builds would work.

removing turbo building wont do much you will probably still get stomped by anyone good regardless

Turbo building is what made the game so sweaty yet made the game better for players.

For slow building that’s just what regular building was back in season 1-2
If it wasn’t for zero builds you won’t see me playing this game
I can’t believe people actually enjoy content of sweats building. Like dude I can’t even see what’s going on

So boring too

Alot of the og pros couldnt keep up because they werent practicing builds as much in creative/playgrounds
