I love playing "search and rescue" on trails and helping people out. Also, I love how in this video, you are using basic recovery gear that everyone understands. It is important to remember to use weighted covers on your winch lines where ever it has a connecting point to a snatch block or a shackle. Also, it may be in your best interest to use soft shackles and and recovery rings once you mastered using the metal shackles and snatch blocks - as those can become 2-10 pound projectiles if the winch line were to break mid recovery. Learning how to use the old tech first is paramount when entering the off-road scene. Then worry about the newer, light weight stuff on the market. You'll be stronger because of it.
I loved how the point of this video was to show you basic concepts of recovery and I feel it did a fantastic job showcasing many basic forms of self recovery and even how to tag in a friend if it gets a little sticky. GREAT JOB JOSH!!!! :)

I always keep a minimum of three snatch blocks in my rig. Using three you can actually winch backwards if there are anchor points in front and back. Also if I am winching somebody else and there are trees close enough I use a single line to a block on the tree and then double or triple off of the tree instead of my vehicle.

Josh i love you videos your mannerisms and the music. This one was way better do to real life situations the fake people should have been replaced by real people of which I have many in mind. Before I add a winch I plan to use your educational vids in the process. May god bless you richly

One thing I do even with a single snatchblock is hooking the second line to the frame or other support. Especially when using 2 snatchblocks. If you run a 13.5 winch, you can have over 40k pulling against the winch bumper at capacity. I use a v-strap attached to both frame rails.

If a Warne doesn't fit in my bumper for my tacoma, would you say the smittybuilt x20 is on point with the warne zeon-S?

Two block doesn't triple your leverage, it quadruples it. Each snatch block halves the load. So it is 10k on a direct and 5k on a block, it's actually 2.5k with two snatches.

If your winch isn’t strong enough, Use more snatch blocks.
