    Dear Amanda, Normally, someone teaching Cantonese misses out the pronouns or concentrates on the tones and the learner is overwhelmed after a few minutes. The way you teach is excellent.

    Dear Amanda, I have Chinese blood in me but because I came to live in the USA since I was young, I don't speak much Cantonese. I am so glad to have found your channel, which is one of the best Cantonese teaching channels out there. I hope I will be able to learn and speak Cantonese in a about a year or two. @@Mariana-kj2ub Thats actually pretty cool. I am American but half British. Basically there’s a bunch of English speakers in my family. Super vanilla and boring, but Japanese engaged me into learning other languages. Je peux parler le français un peu et eu aprendi português há 2 anos, but Cantonese is my new passion haha. I’ve always wanted to learn a Chinese language. I tried Mandarin for a while before realising that it’s not really as common in America, at least where I live. Cantonese is really where it’s at, especially in Chinatowns. Plus there’s a lot of similarities with Japanese in vocabulary tbh. けっこうね tho! It’s really cool to meet someone else who’s genuinely interested in a language that’s often looked over. :)

    I find your method of teaching Cantonese well suited to my learning style. However, I am torn as to how I should approach learning Cantonese. Should I watch all the videos first then re-watch each video to learn how to write the characters at a slower pace, or should I learn how to write the characters as I watch each video?
    I appreciate your thoughts on how I should approach learning Cantonese again.
    (I actually learned Cantonese using "Let's Talk Cantonese" by Victoria Liu/Joseph Durra from cover to cover over 15 years ago. I can still speak some Cantonese but have forgotten how to write the Cantonese characters.)

    • @5minutecantonese
      @5minutecantonese  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on your need. I would suggest you to learn to speak first, like what we do when we were a kid. in the process, you can learn the Chinese character together (I mean by recognize the sharp and how it looks)
      Always follow your interest, e.g You can learn the character of the food in the menu first
      Happy learning!

      Who know?😉
      Start with speaking and listening. If you have interest. Try to learn how to write. But most importantly, don't stress too much! 😄

    Cui is the hardest word to pronounce when you're thinking about it.
    Like I can pronounce it when I'm not thinking about it but I can't pronounce it when I'm conscious trying to do so
    Can somebody tell me how to pronounce "cui" like where is your tongue supposed to go? How are your lips supposed to move? Somebody please tell me!

    I just found your channel and I am so glad I did! I live in The Netherlands and my boyfriend’s family is from Hong Kong. So naturally they speak Cantonese to each other. Since I want to be able to at least pick up on a few words when they speak I would love to learn Cantonese. My boyfriend helps me but where do we start?! What to learn first? So thank you! Now I don’t have to bother my boyfriend so much ❤

    I just like how Cantonese solved the entire pronoun crisis by just having 佢 as the 3rd party singular, and 佢哋 as 3rd party plural, regardless of whatever the 3rd party is.
    成件事簡單好多

    I just started and I was a bit confused about nei and lei and I am glad you clarified it for me. Also do we always have to write the # next to it ( what does that mean?) Its a whole new way of learning it and I am excited.
