Fun fact about the wherehog: You can cancel out of any animation during combat by simply just pressing the shield button. What I love about Sonic unleashed is its fantastic cinematic opening and it's presentation and it's fun gameplay. Also, I love how almost dark it is and that's what I really like about most games is having a little bit of a dark in them. Overall, Sonic unleashed is a cinematic masterpiece 👍🏻
I have yet to hear a single person describe in detail how Unleashed has "dark themes" that aren't "giant monster will destroy the world," which is nothing new for the series.
I grew up playing this game the only other sonic games I played alongside this game was Secret Rings and Heroes. I would definitely love to go back to this game some day though!
I really like unleashed. The day time stages were fun for me (even though most of my game overs were from it) and the werehog stages were as good as the day time stages for me. The music is amazing, and I like all the cutscenes in the game. The hub world was good and I liked searching for the hidden medals in it. As for the medals, I didn't think they were bad. But I guess thats just me since I like exploring levels, although I didn't get that much medals in day time stages since the main point of the stages were to go fast. But I did get a lot from the hub world and night stages. So I didn't have to do a lot of levels for 120 sun medals. And for Eggman land I really liked it even with the difficulty. The final boss was fine, and the music just made it better. Now I'm not gonna overly praise it as "The best sonic game ever!" since I have only played a tad bit of generations and colors and have never played sa1 and sa2 (although I do plan on playing them). I respect if you think that its bad, or if its just meh, because everyones opinion is subjective, and we shouldn't be toxic towards another just because their opinion is common, part of a bandwagon, isn't part of a bandwagon, or a negative opinion of what you like. I know this was a drastic change from what I was saying about unleashed, but I just really needed to say this.
The issue nowadays is that people like take there opinions as facts and spread it as such, I'm not saying that your opinion isn't valid or anything,no one's emotional feelings towards a game is invalid but if your going to make a vid in the internet and you want to be critical, make sure it isn't just your subjective opinion,it has to be a critical analysis of the game about what it has and hasn't and reviewing every single aspect regardless of your opinion, sure, you could include it but make sure you make a distinction, like for example,I don't care about the 2D sonic games(I do know a lot about them and I have played most of them but I don't care to revisit them, sonic3k is the exception),but that doesn't mean I well review them as such, there is no problem to have an opinion on something, but when a post it on the internet people would take this as your supposed critical analysis of that thing,So people would be critical of your opinion that they see as your critical analysis, especially if that thought was wrong on a critical perspective and you failed to make a distinction, keyword here "distinction", What matters the most is to not roust each other over something stopped or dumb when the issue could be resolved by "distinctioning the opinion and the critical analysis, that's all.
@@WassupSIUU I honestly never had a problem with Forces levels. The Werehog levels just had a lot of roadblocks, where you had to stop and fight. Some levels lasted almost 20 minutes, or longer if you like to explore and collect things.
I'm prob an outcast for saying this, but I remember liking the night stages more as a kid than the day stages. Especially the bosses. Even weirder, I actually loved doing eggman land over and over again.
I don’t know if this is heresy to say, but Nathaniel does a real nice job at the split screen when Bathaniel is there. It’s very natural (the end one at the table is great example) and looks like a real conversation. I mean, uh, why wouldn’t it! They’re both real people! For sure, uh, cough, cough.
The music in this game is the best nostalgia. "Endless Possibilities" is the theme including the Final Boss Dark Gaia and the stage music's themselves oh they are mmmmmmmmm!!!
0:23 actually shadow survived the fall. in shadow the hedgehog egg man said one of his robots found him (said in the final boss) and he was all fine, only thing shadow lost was his memory
Sonic Unleashed is truly the definition of underrated. I'm glad nowadays people are showing this game the respect that it deserves. Also I really like the Werehog levels, fight me!
@@paulo547 No, it is NOT underrated. People cram it down my throat on a near daily basis that it's the "objectively best Sonic game that needs more love and is immune to criticism."

The werehog is good (only if you invest in the combo tree). Otherwise you'd just get a mashy mess. Which most people don't actually invest in the combo tree not realizing most of the moves are actually cool and nice to try out.

Fun fact: If you know how a stage works, every stage goes faster than you think. Eggman Land took me about 17 minutes when doing the Hot Dog Stand challenges. But even I found some issues as I played the game after years of not playing it. Including glitches. I played this on a Series X, I should mention.
Am I the only one that enjoyed Eggman land? I felt that the shift between day and night in the middle was really cool for a first playthrough. Although maybe it could be cut to half it's length. Although a long final stage with multiple parts makes sense to me similar to Cannon's Core. Note: although I make such a comparison Cannon's Core is far superior and the only means of comparison between the too are the length and how they combine segments with different gameplay styles.
@@obsidianflight8065 I mean if you count the deaths that is as long as it takes me to beat many champion road levels in Mario games. If it's hard the total time is going to be long if you mess up. I guess the only issue is that the difficulty or length is more synonymous with a post game level than a main story level. Also sorry it took you that long.
"The Intro Cutscene is the best part of the game." I always laugh so hard at that. On Bandy clips you should make a compilation of all the Mario Sonic Olympics videos where that line is said. That would be awesome!
I just played through this game for the first time. I got Unleashed and Adventure at the same time thinking I would like Adventure a lot more but I ended up liking Unleashed a lot better. Day time stages are fun and the night time stages have some amazing music and the levels can be pretty fun sometimes. The soundtrack is my 2nd favorite Sonic soundtrack of all time.

I replayed this game for the first time since it came out this summer, and the biggest thing that makes me angry is the depth perception in the werehog stages since there is no shadow when you're jumping from platform to platform
This was my first and only Sonic game, and it’s so damn nostalgic. I remember coming home from elementary school everyday playing this game and I loved it.. and it was the Wii version. I never knew how much I was missing out on! 😂
The one good thing about the Wii version of the night stages is they’re short as. To get an S rank you typically need to finish within 8-10 mins, depending on the level, and that’s lenient. You can finish way faster! But they’re still fun I like night stages
Well now that i look back on it, it wasn't as great as some people said it was, but then again it was hated on release until people changed thier mind and said this game was good after forces was released, and i must say this game is really on the middle, it's not too great, but it's not too bad . (PS; I agree eggmanland is the worst stage in the entire world, i was stuck on a single stage for 2 years straight...)
The unleashed soundtrack is one of my favorites The unwiished completely skipped Savannah Citadel Day and night and Skyscraper Scamper Day and night Eggmanland or Crimson carnival is better on the wii Version Same goes for the final boss as well
I've only played the weavers and I also recall when Sonic unleashed first came out at the time at least while reviewers didn't seem to like the 360 and PS3 version but they definitely preferred I wouldn't say they loved but they were a lot more positive towards the Wii version and PS2 version. It's crazy how a game that was such a mixed bag is now so fondly remembered today
How could you not have mentioned the music and environment design as a plus for these games? I think those aspects might be some of the best in the series.
About the Windmill Isle act issue: Acts for Day and Night are separate so the night is act 1 because it is the first apotos night level and the day level was act 2 because act 1 is the first level you play (in the story you are going from where sonic lands on earth after the cgi cutscene to apotos)
No matter what you say, I will stand by the fact that Sonic Unleashed is the best Sonic game ever made, and my favorite video game ever. Even with the werehog and medal collecting that I actually found fun
0:22 Actually, Chip's necklace/bracelet has this orb used to activate the gaia temples, and you can see that after the opening, the orb surrounding sonic is the same shade as the bracelet which stopped sonic's fall for a second, letting him live
Hey Nathaniel, I have a few ideas for future ranking videos: Ranking every Zelda game Ranking every Metroid game Ranking every Crash Bandicoot game Ranking every 3D Sonic game
This was my favorite Sonic Game when I first played it, and it's still one of my favorites today. Definitely not perfect, but there's just so much stuff that I love.
Earlier in Sonic Heroes Triggered, "No Sonic Stage should last more than 10 Minutes". Sonic the Werehog appears implying that Sonic Unleashed had the same problem. And now I see why since I didn't play the game and only saw the cutscenes earlier some time ago.
I played the Wii version before I played the HD version, and in my opinion I think there both great games. They both have there flaws, some more than other, but in the end I enjoyed both of them equally. I’m always for some modern boost Sonic gameplay in the fastest Sonic game I’ve ever seen. I’m also good for some slower pace of the Wii version, and find some good routes and boost right through them to get that S rank
I admittedly like the werehog stages besides arid sands, cool edge, and the parts he has in eggmanland. But the daytime stages, like everyone else, absolutely love them. With a bit of shortcomings this game is amazing
It's my favourite Sonic game. The soundtrack is amazing and the day levels are great. It's most controversial part is the werehog and I think it adds some really cool gameplay. I played the wii version with the classical controller. It's the one I recommend.
0:17 Sonic didnt fall from space he got saved at the last minute and be fell from a shorter height and your comparisin to shadow makes no sense because shadow didnt die.
While I’ve only really played the Wii version of Unleashed, I really enjoyed the game! I think It was a good idea to start with Unleashed Wii, as It’s a little easier than the PS3 and Xbox 360 Versions, and Eggman Land is less stressful to get through, thanks to it being divided into small sections! I have experienced the Daytime Stages of the PS3 and Xbox 360 Versions of Unleashed via The Unleashed Project Mob for Sonic Generations, and the Team did a really great job porting over the stages to Generations! They still look well put together, they were thought out, and as someone who has only really played the Wii version of Unleashed, this was really awesome to me! This is why I love the Sonic Generations Modding community! Now all that is left main-game wise until Frontiers is Sonic Lost World! I wish you the best of luck on that video! It will mostly be another “The Good and Bad” video for Lost World. Also, do you think you could do a “The Good and Bad” video on Cel Damage? I love that game! I’ve played both the Original and HD Versions and to me, both are really good! Though I prefer the HD Version! The Original Version of the game is on both Xbox and GameCube, while the HD version is on PS3, PS4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Also, the voice of Mario is in that game too! So it would be fun if you talked about that in the video too!

Glad to see that the wii version is finally getting the respect it deserves
Wait… ain’t you Nathanial B
Haven't played this game in long time but watching this video made me want to play this again soon. Thanks for uploading this video and good skit btw!
I love these “good and bad” videos because it gives us mind blowing and triggered in one video. Keep this up NB I’m loving this new series
The only problem I had with the Werehog was that his levels were too long.
Bruh and people are complaining that sonic forces is too short. The sonic fan base is weird
@@WassupSIUU I honestly never had a problem with Forces levels. The Werehog levels just had a lot of roadblocks, where you had to stop and fight. Some levels lasted almost 20 minutes, or longer if you like to explore and collect things.
@@JasLamArr91 ye true but I mean this is the most dedication sega has given to a sonic game so I’ll give ‘em that
Never was a problem for me even to this day especially the SD Version of the game.
They feel short compared to doing 3-4 night time stages on the wii version. The only reason you'd get a game over is if you need to git gud.
I'm prob an outcast for saying this, but I remember liking the night stages more as a kid than the day stages. Especially the bosses. Even weirder, I actually loved doing eggman land over and over again.
I'm right there with you on the first part - I always liked the night stages a lot more. But you couldn't pay me to suffer through Eggmanland again.
@@JoeyCannoli I guess I was a masochist back than... 😅 Or that was prob the egg dragon boss fight (personnal favorite) that I like a lot.
Ain’t you Nathaniel b?
Actually playing through this game for the first time. Enjoying it so far… for the most part. 💙
If this game were all daytime stages, would be 10/10
@@StorableGaming And if the medals were removed
No, no it is not underrated.
@@AkameGaKillfan777 Yes it is.
Unless you mean the game is bad?
@@paulo547 No, it is NOT underrated. People cram it down my throat on a near daily basis that it's the "objectively best Sonic game that needs more love and is immune to criticism."
7:04 that Bruh Is Flawless
It is a certified Bruh moment, he says that there is to munch of the main part of the game
You can’t handle me. Hold up, ain’t you Nathaniel B?
In my opinion, I really love the werehog, it’s a really good gimmick, and even though the medal collecting is kinda a pain, I love this game so much and is one of my favourite sonic games
The werehog is good (only if you invest in the combo tree). Otherwise you'd just get a mashy mess. Which most people don't actually invest in the combo tree not realizing most of the moves are actually cool and nice to try out.
5:16 That is no joke, the exact reason I defend the Werehog Stages. I am one of few who will actually defend them until I Die.
Me too
Not gonna lie, I always thought the werehog form was really cool as a kid and I still think it's cool now. It just looks badass and he can STRETCH HIS ARMS LIKE LUFFY! How can you not love that?!
i would remove the "Like Luffy!" part, but i agree
@@obsidianflight8065 why remove it, would you prefer Mrs incredible instead
@@dragonmaster3030 i have a special hatred for luffy, he didnt do anything wrong himself but hes just too god damn popular
he has over 1000 episodes! every time i go to watch anime i see his face!
hes in tons of fighting games for some reason! i cant pick a character without seeing his face!
my friends occasionally talk about the show as well! i have no idea how some triangular humans got so damn popular
@@obsidianflight8065 really, I've been an anime fan for about 2-3 years now and I don't really see him appear all the often, even when I went to the expo recently all their was a single statue and nothing more of him, it could just be where your looking, by the way I've never seen one piece
@@dragonmaster3030 I dont go to expos or anything. I'm talking about generally in the places i go to (which is partly my fault, since its a large amount of children in the community making it 10x more likely to appear than what you may see)
Fun fact: If you know how a stage works, every stage goes faster than you think. Eggman Land took me about 17 minutes when doing the Hot Dog Stand challenges.
But even I found some issues as I played the game after years of not playing it. Including glitches. I played this on a Series X, I should mention.
Well in eggmanland there is a shorcut in the begining that lets you skip about 5 or 6 minutes, if you use the normal route it will take way longer
@@juliamxd9614 True, but once you realize you can skip some enemies, it goes by MUCH faster as well
@@soulfuxion699 that's true
Glad he took a look at the Wii version. I like the 360/PS3 version, but the Wii version is the one I had the most memories with.
@@kinoposts Facts. The hot dog missions were sooo satisfying to do once I practiced enough.
i remember that stage taking me 50+ minutes for one run through it
@@obsidianflight8065 I mean if you count the deaths that is as long as it takes me to beat many champion road levels in Mario games. If it's hard the total time is going to be long if you mess up. I guess the only issue is that the difficulty or length is more synonymous with a post game level than a main story level.
Also sorry it took you that long.
3:59 for the hotdog version, imagine that but you only have 1 life. Now that is pain right there
"The Intro Cutscene is the best part of the game." I always laugh so hard at that.
@Beta64 Played Sonic Unleashed for the first time too, he just finished it a few weeks ago, and he enjoyed it, he just didn't like the Plane Stages or the Really Long Werehog Stages.
What's your #1 favorite sonic game soundtrack?
@@pugpartyproductions9499 Mine Would have to be Sonic Heroes, Even though I only played three Sonic Games, Sonic 1, Sonic 3, and Sonic Heroes, and Heroes is my favorite of the three. 🙂
@@pugpartyproductions9499 SA2, it's just so memorable and not a bad song on it.
@@PWPictures67 I would love to play Heroes one day. Looks like a really fun game and I've listened to some of the soundtrack. I'm gonna have to find a copy for the gamecube since there is no other way to buy it on xbox or anything which is sad.
Sonic Unleashed is a masterpiece and the Werehog was a nice Variety point.
Agreed
I replayed this game for the first time since it came out this summer, and the biggest thing that makes me angry is the depth perception in the werehog stages since there is no shadow when you're jumping from platform to platform
"The platforming is TIGHT!" They say...
3:16 has this happened to many people? Because I swear everytime I play this it ALWAYS HAPPENS!
No, it never happened to me, or was it because I played the PS3 version?
This video should of been called “How Sonic Unleashed triggers you”
7:17 Oh yeah, Chip thanks for reference. "Want some chocolate"
This was my first and only Sonic game, and it’s so damn nostalgic. I remember coming home from elementary school everyday playing this game and I loved it.. and it was the Wii version. I never knew how much I was missing out on! 😂
00:43 it’s act 2 because you already played act 1 After the cutscenes when you meet chip. And 00:52 is act 1 for the werehog. Just to clear that up
The one good thing about the Wii version of the night stages is they’re short as. To get an S rank you typically need to finish within 8-10 mins, depending on the level, and that’s lenient. You can finish way faster! But they’re still fun I like night stages
I swear to god, this "Good and Bad" series has basically become the logical replacement for the TRIGGERED and MIND BLOWING series. BRING THEM BACK
After all these years he is finally talking about this game!
YES! IVE BEEN WAITING FOR AN UNLEASHED VIDEO!!!
You can’t handle me
Well now that i look back on it, it wasn't as great as some people said it was, but then again it was hated on release until people changed thier mind and said this game was good after forces was released, and i must say this game is really on the middle, it's not too great, but it's not too bad . (PS; I agree eggmanland is the worst stage in the entire world, i was stuck on a single stage for 2 years straight...)
The unleashed soundtrack is one of my favorites
The unwiished completely skipped Savannah Citadel Day and night and Skyscraper Scamper Day and night
Eggmanland or Crimson carnival is better on the wii Version
Same goes for the final boss as well
I've only played the weavers and I also recall when Sonic unleashed first came out at the time at least while reviewers didn't seem to like the 360 and PS3 version but they definitely preferred I wouldn't say they loved but they were a lot more positive towards the Wii version and PS2 version. It's crazy how a game that was such a mixed bag is now so fondly remembered today
How could you not have mentioned the music and environment design as a plus for these games? I think those aspects might be some of the best in the series.
About the Windmill Isle act issue:
Acts for Day and Night are separate so the night is act 1 because it is the first apotos night level and the day level was act 2 because act 1 is the first level you play (in the story you are going from where sonic lands on earth after the cgi cutscene to apotos)
No matter what you say, I will stand by the fact that Sonic Unleashed is the best Sonic game ever made, and my favorite video game ever. Even with the werehog and medal collecting that I actually found fun
Same ✊🏻
0:22 Actually, Chip's necklace/bracelet has this orb used to activate the gaia temples, and you can see that after the opening, the orb surrounding sonic is the same shade as the bracelet which stopped sonic's fall for a second, letting him live
Aint you Nathaniel b⁉️
Hey Nathaniel, I have a few ideas for future ranking videos:
Ranking every Zelda game
Ranking every Metroid game
Ranking every Crash Bandicoot game
Ranking every 3D Sonic game
Sonic Unleashed really reminds me of Pokemon Black/White because of how hated it was upon release, and only now it's getting love.

Aint you nathainel b?
Earlier in Sonic Heroes Triggered, "No Sonic Stage should last more than 10 Minutes". Sonic the Werehog appears implying that Sonic Unleashed had the same problem. And now I see why since I didn't play the game and only saw the cutscenes earlier some time ago.
I love sonic unleashed. It is my favorite sonic game of all time. The opening cutscene is a m a s t e r p i e c e. The warehog isn’t bad as well.
This is my favorite Sonic Game hands down
2:40 that’s for you to practice the drift with the trigger buttons
Are the “The Good and Bad of (insert game here)” replacing the “How (insert game here) TRIGGERS You” and “How (instert game here) is MIND BLOWING”?
I played the Wii version before I played the HD version, and in my opinion I think there both great games. They both have there flaws, some more than other, but in the end I enjoyed both of them equally. I’m always for some modern boost Sonic gameplay in the fastest Sonic game I’ve ever seen. I’m also good for some slower pace of the Wii version, and find some good routes and boost right through them to get that S rank
The 360 version is my favourite game of all time, I'm so happy to see a video on this game. Sonic Racing games next?
1:34 nathaniel bandy jumpscare 😭😭😭😭
Is anybody ever going to mention the chocolate banter between NB and BN and how seamless the editing job is? Give my regards to Jon ✌🏻
2:22 Subway is bad..?
Remember, some of these aren't accurate to his actual thoughts and feelings.
I admittedly like the werehog stages besides arid sands, cool edge, and the parts he has in eggmanland. But the daytime stages, like everyone else, absolutely love them. With a bit of shortcomings this game is amazing
1:28 Bandys jumpscare at door
It's my favourite Sonic game. The soundtrack is amazing and the day levels are great. It's most controversial part is the werehog and I think it adds some really cool gameplay.
I played the wii version with the classical controller. It's the one I recommend.
Combat normally helps when you diversify you combos
3:17 since when does this happen? I never experienced this on Xbox One X or Xbox Series X
The egg dragoon boss(specifically the xbox 360 version) is the best in unleashed, if not one of the best in all of the sonic games
Sonic Unleashed has a case of “good-after-a-couple-years-itis”
0:17 Sonic didnt fall from space he got saved at the last minute and be fell from a shorter height and your comparisin to shadow makes no sense because shadow didnt die.
This was a video I have been waiting for a long time. It's even better coming from you.
Hol up……………………………
Ain’t u Nathaniel 🅱️??
