It sounds like JM was favoring the defendant at first because the plaintiff complained about the furniture a month before the expiration of the warranty. But I guess it sealed the deal to go the other way when she heard they were floor models. I think the plaintiff was taking a while to read and speak because English didn't sound like it was her first language.
I work at a furniture store. We treat all preowned furniture as new for service reasons. We fix, repair and recondition them best we can, discount them with the clear amount of discount on the tags and we make sure they understand preowned is treated as new if there is a service issue. The man is correct about that, it's common in the business. Our FLOOR displays are brand new and if people ask if he have this in stock, we tell them , yes, this actual piece is the one for sale.

People don't realize that the woman body protects a fetus very well. It's very hard or rare to have a miscarriage from an injury unless it's directly to the area the womb is in.

Furniture is made really shoddy now and most of the stores know that people are too busy to bother and will just put up with getting scammed. My daughter bought a custom made pull out couch and the day they delivered it the legs wouldn't even go on because the brackets were stripped so the groves from the legs had no way to screw in. They talked to the store and were told they'd have to pay to have it shipped back and for the work since it was custom made. Like really? The couch now just sits low on the floor with no legs because it already cost an exorbitant amount and no one has time to deal with that. Sad that people don't take any pride in their workmanship anymore.

Just listen to how she communicated her closing statements at the end when she was interviewed about the outcome of events, she literally said 100 words without making a single thought or sentence, and tried to blame an unrelated miscarriage on her "almost falling" off of the couch. I don't think I could have listened to her stammer for more than 20 minutes without wanting to walk out and leave that case behind.
