I tried both as VMs and I find MX to be a tad fluid and MX tools are very helpful. It's best for someone who likes less CLI and more GUI. Both have beautiful XFCE de's. I can mod it to look almost like MacOS but I need a lightweight and powerful enough env.
thank you for This! I love MX! Brand new to mint atm
Actually- they are BOTH great for different reasons. AND I use them both- I have 4 distros on my computer now- and switch back and forth between them-- MX is 1, LMDE6 is 2, and Sparky is 3, and Spiral is 4..
MX is better on my Acer AMD laptop. I have both MX and Mint installed but the Mint install was not easy. I had to install Mint 21.2 then upgrade the kernal then do a full upgrade to Mint 21.3. the Mint 21.3 live ISO will not even boot on my system. however the Mint Cinnamon 21.3 Edge live iso will boot. I also have LMDE 6 and there where no problems with the Debian edition.
Nice! Thanks for sharing this info.
A man of culture I see. I recently resurrected an Acer Aspire One Cloudbook, but I had to use ArchCraft. The owner loves the aesthetic, but using Sway is still a bit challenging to her.
@@nosotrosloslobosestamosreg4115 window tilers are cool, but I’d rather stick with a DE.
I'd love to see a comparison of these 2 distros with Linux Lite included. All 3 use XFCE so it would be a really cool comparison.
Thanks for the idea. I’ll see what I can do.
My very first distro was mint. I kept hopping and going back to mint. I learned Linux because of mint. That includes configuring my bash, terminal, conky using weird scripts from shady forums. Never even heard of mx, but boy when I did and found out that all these configurations could be done in a gui that already comes with the distro I was baffled. Also I just had to respect the verbose documentation for everything. EVERYTHING is explained in a perfect manner.
Note: I'm still on mint tho, I just can't let go of all the work input into it that easily 😂 also, mint's cinnamon looks sexier.
Yep. Mint just works. Thank you for leaving the comment and watching.
I had both systems on my MSI cyborg 12V laptop, but I just ended up using Linux Mint. For some reason whenever I closed the laptop the suspension mode made MX crash, and the Nvidia driver support works better on Mint. I used MX KDE and Linux Mint Cinnamon.
How was the KDE spin? Thanks for watching.
If you’re using an AMD cpu it’s possible that the TLP already installed in MX Linux is the app causing the crash, in which case you’re better off uninstalling TLP and using maybe Power-Profiles-Daemon or Tuned with Tuned Switcher.
I use Linux mint mate and never had any issue nor any crash. So far it is very fast and I customize the overall appearance cause I don't like the green look. I also install Appimage softwares when available.
Nice! Thanks for watching.
Linux Mint (Debian Edition) for ever but, MX tools and specially MX Snapshot is something every distro should have.
Nice! I love LMDE too. Thanks for watching.
MX package installer imo is the best that MX has to offer. Super easy to use.
@@johanb.7869 I noticed it was super fast.
@@TheLinuxITGuy because it is😉
Linux mint ui looks more modern. Mx ui looks like old window ui
Beankt voor de uploud !! Linux Mint 💪 is voor mij veruit de beste..
Nice! Thanks for watching and sharing.
it's crazy to see how much faster MX Linux compared to Mint...the installation, doing the updates. What could be the factors that made Mint so slow / MX so fast? Both are Ubuntu based distros...
MX is Debian based in this one. Thanks for watching
for me, mint
Linux mint came with XFCE Desktop environment , what about Cinnamon DE . also u r using Linux mint debian based or ubuntu based ?
In this video Ubuntu based. Thinking about making LMDE vs. seems more apples to apples. Thanks for the comment.
@@TheLinuxITGuy I would appreciate if you made LMDE vs MX because they're both based on Debian.
hmmm comparing Mx Linux's flagship DE to Linux Mint's not flagship DE? Seems like not a fair comparison although I get they are both xfce this way but still would consider Mx to have a bias here. I think it should be "who does XFCE better?"
Well, as someone who actually watched the video there was no "winner". MX Linux had a newer kernel
I like them both.
@@TheLinuxITGuyI would certainly agree. I use both, except it is LMDE6 I use to avoid Canonical s shenanigans.
@@casual_citizen I know that.... I'm just saying from the get go it wasn't a good comparison. Having no winner when one is at a (technically) disadvantage doesn't exactly mean the comparison is fair.
It's like comparing Mx Linux KDE to KDE Neon. It wouldn't be a good comparison because it's a flagship vs a spin/flavor. That's why I said changing the question makes it a much better equivalency.
@@tonywise198 Yea, I hear ya on that.
Mint is running on very old kernels and modules, not good for recent hardware.
Try the edge edition
Don't use either of these two just don't ??
What do you use? 🤔 thanks for watching
