  • Join with Warren, Greckie and Phil on a 2,000km road trip to the NSW outback with the new Garrett AT Max International. Before heading off, we pick up some nice 'micro-nuggets' in the Central Victorian Goldfields using the optional 5 x 8" DD searchcoil. Please note that 'live' digs are generally edited for brevity, and the gale force winds prevailing around Tibooburra at the time. Thanks for watching and subscribing and Happy Fossicking! Warren, Greckie and Phil.

    That’s an amazing machine. It has target identification for coin, hunting jewellery hunting, and it has all metal/threshold modes like a classic gold hunter…It is all types of prospecting. I’m buying one of !!

    Love your videos. Some gorgeous finds. And GOLD! Get the fever! That old stamper was massive. It needs to be reinforced and sheltered. Of course, the dry outback air doesn't rust stuff as much as other places would.GL and HH

    A bit off the subject but I used to have the Garrett groundhog and swept the back garden with the kids no end of time. Bought the AT Max Int and within 20 mins I had found 6 coins that the old Garrett never picked up. Off the topic but I highly recommend the AT max int for the auto GB it has. So easy and quick.

    Warren nice detecting mate. Greckie and I have done that dam wall numerous times over the years. The AT Max looks like a great detector. I am going to order one myself for relics and gold. It was a shame that I could not have joined you at Tibooburra but I was away at that time. Next time for sure. Cheers Chris

      @NQExplorers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No worries Stephen, we usually set the Max to CUSTOM, with all notches in and then just set the IRON DISC to 25-30, and adjust to conditions. In some cases you may want to find iron relics, you can just hit the IRON AUDIO to hear the discriminated iron. Just don't lean too hard on the discrimination your first time on a new site, and adjust to the conditions. Hope this helps mate. Happy Fossicking! Warren.

    Excellent display of how well the new AT Max works on tiny gold Warren. Though I wonder how far down before the AT Max would miss them in the Victorian goldfields. With the AT Max at 13.6 kHz wouldn't the AT Gold (18 kHz) or the XP Deus HF (15 ~55 kHz) find flakes that size just slightly deeper because of their higher frequencies? This is a serious question before I make my final purchase decision.

    • @oldmuffdiver
      @oldmuffdiver 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      AT Gold with the 8.5" x 11 "coil will find deeper nuggets , and Gold Bug 2 with its 6 1/2" coil is even better for small nuggets , and would detect bigger nuggets that were around 6-8"

    • @Ken_James_SV
      @Ken_James_SV 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Simon, I didn't ask about finding bigger nuggets. I asked if the other 2 detectors I mentioned (AT GOLD and XP Deus HF) would find that same small 0.25 gram nugget at 4:30 slightly deeper because of their higher frequency.

    • @NQExplorers
      @NQExplorers  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for watching the video and commenting. Very good technical questions you pose there. I am not familiar with Deus and how it performs on mineralisation, but I am with AT Gold and AT Max. Yes AT Max operates at a lower frequency, but with much more power than AT Gold, combined with 175 points of GB as opposed to 99, which means Max can be better tuned to the soil (particularly with a side-balancing technique which opens up the Auto GB window). As you would know, there are so many variables in prospecting for gold in the bush that no absolutes can be stated. Keep up your technical research and you will come up with the best detector for your uses. Bear in mind though that VLF does have limitations and eventually, ground conditions may dictate using pulse, depending on where you are working. Happy Fossicking! Warren.

      Thank you Warren.
      I will be working the Golden Triangle of Victoria, but mainly south west of Ballarat around all the old diggings. Smythesdale, Linton, Happy Valley, etc. These areas have been heavily detected for many years by PI machines and I want to use a VLF to look for the smaller gold that the PI's often miss in heavily detected areas. Keep up the great tutorial videos. They are much appreciated. Cheers. Ken.

    • @NQExplorers
      @NQExplorers  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sounds like a great plan Ken, just keep in mind that if you go for the AT Max, I would highly recommend the 5 x 8" DD accessory coil (as per the AT Gold) as you would probably find that the stock 11.5" would be too large for effective detection of the tiny nuggets hidden in the old mullock heaps. With the great discrimination capabilities of the Max, you should do well there. Cheers mate. Warren.

  • @teragrammi
    @teragrammi 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Warren, which unit would you choose: the AT Max or the ATX? Thanks

    • @NQExplorers
      @NQExplorers  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      G'day Don and Marg and thanks for watching our video. Your question cannot be answered easily as AT Max and ATX are very different beasts. AT Max being VLF with all the discrimination capabilities, and ATX being Pulse Induction, designed for very highly mineralised soils (the down side being pulse does not allow accurate discrimination and identification like a VLF). It will really depend on where you intend prospecting and the levels of mineralisation, professional level VLF machines like AT Max can cope with most soil situations, but some areas do need PI detectors such as ATX, to successfully penetrate the mineralisation with good depth and hit the gold. PI machines will generally run much quieter than VLF in highly mineralised soils, but you do lose your discrimination capabilities. Hope this helps! Happy Fossicking! Warren.

      Andy AT Max was in 'All Metal' mode for the detection of the tiny nuggets. None of the Discriminate modes (including 'Zero') - could detect the tiny 0.05gm pieces. Happy Fossicking mate! Warren.
