Out today searching for gold in my woods and creeks. I was just scanning the high ground above the creeks. I mostly got readings in the 81 to 84 range. I only found a few "pockets" that read in the 44 to 46 range. The rest was just grunts and squeaks. Most readings were 9"+ in the ground. I didn't bring any digging tools since it was just a late afternoon scan.
loved this video, I have both a Garret At Pro and At Max I took inspiration when you spoke about finding pulltabs and how it means other hunters most likely have not tried to look for gold in those areas. UrbanTacticalCombativesNZ I’m digging everything, because if I don’t I will miss coins! Almost missed a quarter because it sounded like a bottle cap. And have dug so many bottle caps thinking it’s a coin, because they sound the same. I have same settings except disc at 37 and use all the way up to 44. 44 will give coins a trash sound, I wish there was a separate iron volume setting so the iron grunt wasn’t so loud, it would make it easier to hear a good target. I’m tired of hearing that annoying grunt to be honest!
So glad I came across this video! I got the AT pro and I've been watching a few LA beast videos and he mentioned this video as a great source of info. You got a new subscriber today.
Love the video! I was entertaining the thought of selling my AT Max because it was a completely different language from my previous detector and all I could hear was chatter. I mirrored your settings and it started speaking English to me again! And I love the bit about calling targets. I got so proficient with my old BH that I could call targets as well, and that one didn’t have ground balancing, a VDI, OR a DD coil.

At 13:43 you say don’t dig it, but my experience with the Max it has a hard time determining a coin and iron and how many targets there are! Let’s say a nail and a coin are next to each other in the ground and with the Max iron always wins for some reason. I’ve had experienced this same tone and pulled out a Mercury dime that was next to a square nail! Even an air test with three nails and two coins in a line and run the Max over it will show a big long iron grunt and only detecting one target. Do you have any videos on this showing how to fix this? Thank You!

Tha is for the video. Just bought a AT Max and trying learn how to use it. I am in FL so eventually will hit the beaches but for now I just wanna learn the thing. So thanks again.
After watching your video this morning I went out in my yard I live in a manufactured mobile home park, I set my Garrett AT Max just like you did on the video. it gets extremely hot down here in south west florida ( bonita springs ) I can see metal detecting in the summer is going to be tough it's going to be limited to early early mornings or late in the evening it gets so hot so fast here. But I dug seven holes in the yard I had 8081 signals and I dug up all of this junk and it appears to be aluminum from the gutters, this place was manufactured and put in here in 1979 all of the items were about 5 to 7 inches deep no coins yet. The soil here is extremely sandy, I had to quit because of the heat. Going to try a couple of parks next.1 but thank you for a great video.
Really informative video thanks. I just bought the at max from your eBay store and this video really helped. I have been using the ace 300 for the three years I have been detecting and the at max is an awesome upgrade for me. My uncle also just bought a minelab from you also. Thanks Happy Hunting

Ed Huffman Very well thank you! It’s definitely a completely different experience than the AT Pro! I’m getting acclimated to all the additional features. It is way better in salt water, which is primarily why I bought it. Thank for all of your help! MUCH appreciated...👍🏽
40+ years ago, I found gold that was paper thin but as big as Chicklet gum pieces and smaller. I sent off a pint of dirt and had it tested. At $400 per oz. I had $10,000 of gold in a square yard, according to the sample tested. A week or so later, a hurricane washed away 6+ feet of the creek bank. I've been searching for gold there ever since but it's just flour gold, some silver and copper flour there.
Thank you for the comment! It’s always exciting to find gold and the good thing is it adds up fast at almost $2k an ounce these days! Good luck and I hope you keep finding gold!
Have an AT Pro . Would settings be the same and numbers be about the same? Also is the smaller coil worth the price? You didn't mention any tips for along metal playground equipment or along metal fences, (maybe in past or future videos??)

Thank you very much for watching!
Tha is for the video. Just bought a AT Max and trying learn how to use it. I am in FL so eventually will hit the beaches but for now I just wanna learn the thing. So thanks again.
Thank you for you comment and I really do appreciate the support!
Thank you for the comment! Keep at it... your going to find something great before you know it!
Do you have any videos with the Max with a coin and a nail together in the ground just to see what your target looks and sounds like?
Thank You!
Man this is helping me so much, thank you for making this video!

Lol... thank you very much! I have been detecting for over 30 years and have tested for a lot of the big manufacturers as well. Thousands of hours in the field, numerous certifications, and being an Authorized Dealer for 10 years .... I would say I know a little about detectors...lol. There is always someone who knows more though!
Treasure Mountain rocks. Recently got a Pro Pointer AT from you guys and I love it.

Nice job making the video!!!! Does the Max have multi- tones??? Like a high tone for silver, and mid tones for nickels & gold ????
Thank you for your comment Jersey Digmore! Yes the AT MAX has a low, mid and high tone as well as an iron grunt. Awesome all around metal detector!
I'm in Scottsdale Arizona and found a small (2) gram gold nugget in a wash my first attempt with my AT Max ....... It was in the 40-42 range on 35 disc.
Thank you for your comment and I really do appreciate the support! Awesome find!
My AT Max is gone...... I went with the XP ORX ...... A nice gold machine with the prospecting coil....
Hey, enjoy your videos! I just unboxed my ATMax. I’m hoping to enjoy it immensely! I went from a Garrett 400 to this AT Max. Could you give me some pointers on the best general setup settings to use for general detecting. I really like artifacts (civil war and antiques)

These are all great tips Ed! Thank you for posting it. My son is studying it closely to use with our Garrett AT Pro. We’re gonna hit the beach when the Minelab CTX 3030 arrives...Thanks for all of your help, it’s much appreciated.
Thank you for your comment and I really do appreciate the support! How are you doing with your CTX 3030?

Great video keep up the good work

Have an AT Pro . Would settings be the same and numbers be about the same? Also is the smaller coil worth the price? You didn't mention any tips for along metal playground equipment or along metal fences, (maybe in past or future videos??)
Thank you for the comment! More videos coming soon! Yes this video will apply to the AT Pro and the AT MAX. Yes I highly recommend the 5x8 DD coil for better separation in those trashy areas! treasuremtndetectors.com/garrett-5x8-dd-coil-at-series/
Thanks@@edhuffmanmetaldetecting
