    I just saw Jiri’s instagram post and he said he’ll be back in 6 months. That would be the standard recovery for the usual shoulder dislocation surgery and makes more sense then the initial ‘one year or more’ timeline

      Agree, I have 1 and 1/4 " of the bone sticking upward and the accident was 2/2017, and I thank my Shoulder Specialist for not recommending surgery, he reiterated the surgery could actually worsen the initial injury and I am able to do what I could before, only pain is tying shoes, and brushing my teeth.

    • @josephroy7021
      @josephroy7021 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not about me, I am lucky, two dudes switched seats illegal and they crushed me, and the Dr said the required surgery would invade areas that aren't injured, and the only way to fix it is a full reconstruction, which is risking the chicken wing on the back, and it's a crazy surgery, I meant it as a joke, 99% of surgeons want to cut, cut, cut, and I was surprised to hear the complete opposite of what I was expecting. If it came of wrong, unintentional, for some odd reason I look deformed and tying my shoes and brushing my teeth hurt more than throwing a ball, punch, I was curious what the Dr would say. Believe me I woke up in the middle of the street saw the driver switch to passenger seat and I tried to swing at him, and it looked like What Happened to Sweet Dreams, I have no idea how I healed, shoulders are strange like Dr said. Believe me the last thing I would want to be about me was that injury, I need a bra for my left chest and the shoulder is the right and I feel crooked, my bad if it came across wrong, probably the strangest injury I've ever felt and the healing process put fwd by the DR. I Thought he was nuts. I hope Jiri doesn't have the ball injury, not about me trust me

      @Ima about tobe koed Buckley face Is this the man, the myth, and the legend? Joaquim New Mensa Buckley? And I am not that person, I was looking at it in a completely unrelated way at first, Seeing Jiri relinquish his Strap and in my opinion I don't see Bones v.s Blaydes, and relinquishing immediately It makes me wonder if Jon Jones will fight Jan or Glover and upon Jiri's return the winner of the Interim Strap Fights Jiri, I am going off Chael P and his strong belief that Jiri v.s Glover 2 was the least rematch the UFC ever wanted to make, and truthfully I can't see Dana putting Jones v.s Blaydes simply because it's not a draw, My injury has 0 to do with this, but I am interested in any matchmaking moving forward, Jon v.s Jiri is insane $$, so until we hear facts we can only hope. Glover and Po Atan in camp is tough especially when 1 is a Champ and the 1 person who Alex has to make him improve quickly would be in camp, I think Jiri is injured, but it came out of nowhere, yea freak accidents happen, but he was stated that he was at the end of camp, and you know it's pretty hard to find out what is really going on. Please don't say all about me, I am not that person, I enjoy stirring up the pot, but injuries sustained in MMA, no, I don't go there. ✌️ and let's hope for the best possible match up possible. My bad if I came off wrong. If you are an MMA Fan I am with you.

    If he landed inverted on that shoulder right in say a throw or grapple situation, It’s possible the ball was literally shoved into the socket with high enough unpack to dislocate it inward shearing the socket and causing fractures everywhere, ball, scapula and joint. Torn tendons, the works. If Dana says worst ever you have to think this was all out wrecked. May be career ending unfortunately. 😞

  • @xaininpc5625
    @xaininpc5625 ปีที่แล้ว +34

    As active as Jiri usually is about trying to avoid going all the way down when being taken down, I wouldn't be surprised if the mechanism was more like him being taken down and posting an extended arm to try to catch himself before landing completely on his back. Which depending on the positions of both people can greatly increase the chance for injury. Wouldn't it maybe also make more sense as to the severity of the injury, since those posting injuries typically involve the weight of both people being loaded all on the extended arm?
    In any case, such a shame to happen to such a classy warrior and great champion, who probably didn't even give a second thought to holding on to the title and risk holding up the division. Just hope he gets to heal at least close to 100% and make a comeback.

    • @xaininpc5625
      @xaininpc5625 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @- I think only slightly delayed but not held up. Glover refusing to fight somebody else for the title on short notice doesn't mean he will wait an entire year just to fight only Jiri. Only that in this situation, he really wanted the runback with Jiri and maybe didn't want a short notice shortcut to the title and opted to wait and see how bad it was with Jiri.
      Now that we know, Glover won't wait a year. He'll wait until both he and whoever gets the title will have a full camp and no excuses and he will hope to have the title when Jiri makes his comeback and they can rematch at that point. Jiri's out of the picture for now and even he himself would say whoever has and defends the belt will be the true champion.

    Athletes always downplay injuries so it doesn't hurt their value. When people say "it's really really bad", it often means that this was already an ongoing problem and it finally fell over the edge. I wonder if he's had shoulder issues before that went untreated or were rushed through recovery and now it all came back to bite them.

    I recently suffered an axillary nerve injury from riding motocross. And let me tell you the pain of the injury is nothing I've ever experienced. And I'm 2 months post and my deltoid is still paralyzed. It is slowly coming back. But barely. My deltoid has already atrophied significantly. It really sucks. You don't realize how important the deltoid is until you lose it. It's hard to use your arm for pretty much anything. From brushing your teeth to showering. You literally cannot raise your arm in any direction. Even sleeping can be difficult because if you're lying on your back and won't to shift position you can't move your arm with you. You have to use your good arm to move your bad arm and adjust. So if the UFC is saying the worse they've ever seen. Wouldn't surprise me if it's an axillary nerve injury.

    I threw a weird overhead punch over a year ago with full force and while I was cold. Due to previous impingement I have had in my shoulders due to a lot of boxing my subscapularis tendon totally tore off the arm bone and retracted and also my bicep tendon ruptured. Was real strange seeing my arm just drop out of the air before it found its target mid punch and then the unbelievable pain set in like electric shocks non stop shooting up my arm. Hate to say it but it was in a street fight, I managed to follow up with a hook that backed the guy away which was lucky because I couldn’t move my arm after that, then we went our separate ways. I’m abit embarrassed about it as I’m a 52 year old father so I tell people it happened in a fall. Had major surgery and has taken me a year to recover and finally get back in the gym again. I have a feeling Jiris injury might be similar, you have to be careful throwing weird angle punches with force.
    I didn’t start the fight it was a random asshole looking for trouble, a lot of them around lately.

    Great content as always.. I will say having some years of BJJ and some amateur MMA experience; Dr. Sutterer should be aware this is a combat sports and grappling is very regularly practiced at 100% effort, fans should never be surprised that serious injuries come from the training room.
    I understand this may seem odd to sports fans of games like NFL etc where full blast isn't happening in practice but grappling specifically is unique that is usually "all good" to good hard, until it's not.

    What about an AC joint injury? I had one of those, got nicknamed batman cause the clavicle stuck up like a folded bat wing. After 4-5 months they did a mumford on me to clean up the joint. They didn't want to attach a ligament over the clavicle cause that would restrict range of motion. Was effectively out about a year with rehab after the surgery. My docs weren't as good a professional athlete's docs so that may be good for him.

    Having a normal shoulder dislocation. Is there workouts to strengthen the muscle around it?

    • @brianmcafee348
      @brianmcafee348 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can strengthen the muscles around your shoulder; however if you have instability with a dislocated shoulder, you need additional treatment-PRP or surgery. If you don't it will eventually dislocated again and again. I've had 3 shoulder dislocations over 30 years ago. It wasn't until I had surgery the shoulder dislocations stopped. If your older and inactive, you may get away with not having additional treatment. If not, your asking for additional pain, which it was the most painful injury I've had by 10 fold. I have broken my ankle and arm.

  • @TheSmileyTek

    Interesting. I have shoulder pain exactly where that axillary nerve wraps around the bottom of the shoulder joint. I injured my shoulder in 2006, and the pain pulsates every now and then. I assume I'll have to get it looked at eventually, but I've just been chillin with it for over 15 years.

      Wow that sucks to hear man that’s a really long time without checking it out at the doctors lol. I injured my shoulder doing bjj and practiced a little after it. I believe I might have torn my rotator cuff, hopefully it’s not that serious because there’s no severe pain, but I feel it’s not at 100% and it’s been a couple months. It got tired and really sore after a training session, so I’m going to make sure I don’t make it worse :/

      @Am S Blake told me that a broken hand was apart of the Injury too. I mean its all speculation but that serious of a shoulder injury seems like a case of "I'm hurt, not Injured. Biggest fight of my life, I'm the baddest man on the planet, this shoulder ache can't hurt me" type of thing and eventually the damn socket gave out. I still haven't looked for anything new on this or not

Recently tj dillashaw fought with a terrible shoulder injury which pop out several time in his last fight, which left him with one hand in the entire fight. He fought 3 rounds with one hand and lost on the fight score. Jiri saw the tea leaves and knew it was better to withdraw from the fight. He made the right decision to cancel and heal.
