They set the market for over priced, insanely ugly putters, that no one wants. That’s all. Lol

I have the Jailbird, but replaced the grip with a Lab-golf forward press grip.. a truely wonderful putter, that really has improved my putting significantly. The white hot Ai insert isa favorite since many years and the length consistency of that insert makes it very easy to get the right tempo.

Lucky you. Still 0 C (and below) here in SW Ohio, USA, although hopeful for a warm-up soon. Enjoy the weather, Andy, and thanks for another great video. I am a DF3 guy since the end of last year's golf season. Indeed, the most important club in the bag!

I've opted for the Square to Square and (so far) have found the technology to benefit my admittedly spotty performances on the green. A not insignificant part of opting for this manifestation of "zero torque" was price. Since I'm still on the upward leg of the learning course for this sport, making the stretch of expense to go with Lab doesn't seem prudent, while the Callaway's price point gets me closer perhaps than non-zero torque offerings. In any event, I'm happy with this particular stick. That said, it should be pointed out that Callaway's product does, like the Lab putters, require a forward press. However, it doesn't use the grip to accommodate that requirement, instead the forward press has to be accomplished by a conscious forward lean of the club. It takes a bit of getting used to, to say the least. Great vid as always!

Seems to me that a hand built specific to the user bespoke putter for £500 seems pretty good value. Certainly better than the newest shiny driver that the masses salivate over every release cycle

I tried both the DF3 and Square to Square and liked both for the reduced torque they had. And there is significant price differences with the Square being more in my budget. But the Square just felt too light to me and I felt like I had to hit harder on longer distances. The DF3 felt heavier in my hands but I was able to lag putt with less effort. Fortunately I found a DF3, used, for $325 and purchased it. But it had a reverse taper grip on it which I liked on my Odyssey Eleven but not so much on the DF3. Replaced with the Lab 3 degree press grip and am very happy with it.
Thanks for your review of these and the comparison. It’s so good to have options and choices available. I think the Square to Square is going to be a huge success because of the price and different heads, but maybe could be a little heavier.
I do value your opinion, thanks for sharing it.

I think there's a good chance the square to square 7 will be a birthday present this year. Have been looking at these a lot. The Lab is just out of my $$ range. I think I'm drinking the Koolaid and believing these things can help with putting, but I really have a hard time sensing it when I putt with them. The forward leaning shaft feels so strange to me, but I assume I'd adapt. Glad to see the weather improving - I think I'm ready for spring. Thanks for the video!

Hi Andy, I purchased the LAB DF3 last January. All I can tell you about my experience is, it took 3 months to get used to and when I did it transformed my consistency on the greens. I read greens pretty well but always found distance control an issue with a 2 way miss, often leaving a 25' foot putt 6 feet short or blasting it 8 feet passed. With the LAB, my lag putting from 30 feet and inside is fantastic and the bonus is I make 8 outta 10 inside 8 feet. This has reduced my handicap over the season by 3.4 shots and I consider the LAB to be the best money I've spent on golf. I'm aware the club itself is not a magic wand but the feeling of confidence once I had a few good rounds with it grew and grew which created trust in the club. Now I consider myself a good putter where, prior to LAB I always considered myself a very inconsistent putter. Great Vid 👍

Got my DF3 and I’d imagine the Oz is similar. Really made a huge difference in my putting. I feel like I can make most of my putts or be able to lag one to tap in range. It may be the placebo effect or not but I’m excited to be putting as I feel that I have a big leg up against my playing buddies.

Hi Andy, great video and as you say it’s an informative video and your own opinion.
I have just taken delivery of a DF3 and I’m old enough and wise enough to know that it’s not a magic wand but what I hope it does for me is give me more consistency over the rounds. LAB Golf in my opinion seems to all about this zero torque and from what I’ve tested the product is very good. Callaway square to square is an excellent product also but just not for me but it will definitely help some others. We need to pay more attention on our putters because it’s the most used club in the bag. We think nothing of spending £4/500 on a driver and then any putter will do but it’s the club that can save most shots. Keep em videos coming 🤙

Good stuff Andy. Can’t wait until the Oz gets to my local store, I have tried the square to square and the DF3, and for me it was an absolute landslide win for the DF3. Wasn’t even close. I recommend everyone give them a test, as their results could be different than mine.
I am going to wait to try the Oz, but I am betting I still go with the DF3.

Recently toured the LAB HQ (October) . Played a round of golf with Sam (CEO)… got fit for the new Oz1i ….. I can assure you the amount of work done to build a putter made specifically for your personal tendencies , is nothing a company like Callaway would ever consider. I now possess my new LAB Oz1i and after one month of practice and playing with it , it is the real deal. I am a 1 index player and have always been a good putter, however , this has made me a great putter. I believe people underestimate the ability to be for with something that is specific to you and your game. If getting better doesn’t interest you then maybe it’s not worth the $. I 💯beleive this is not a gimmick and could help all golfers of all levels. Just depends on how serious you are at reducing strokes per round over time. Liked the review.

@@patrickmccormick4275 how many putting strokes do you think you've shaved off with the new putter per round?

    • @patrickmccormick4275
      @patrickmccormick4275 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

@ that’s a tough call in limited rounds however I can say my rolls for pace , speed and direction have improved on a more consistent basis…I have experienced my lowest putts per round being 22, with this putter….over 40 yrs of golf my previous low was 24/round…my round averages have definitely dropped . Many more tap ins for pars and and more birdies /round than normal. When you take pressure away from your putter, your confidence grows throughout your bag and your proximity to the hole gets closer which leads to more birdies opportunities, which leads to more birdies. Hope that helps answer your question.

Interesting thing on the price thing Andy, I just got fitted at a pga store in the US and paid $449 plus tax, total $478 for a DF3 so at todays exchange about £380 GBP and bought it home in my golf bag. So again in the UK we are being ripped off, cos it doesn’t cost £200 per putter to ship a crate from LAB in Oregon that’s for sure.

I will echo what others have said about switching out the square-to-square stock grip for a LAB 3 degree press grip. I think it really does improve the performance of the Odyssey putter. Maybe it's in my head, but the putter also feels a little heavier now, too. I wonder if the Odyssey stock grip weighs a little more than the LAB press grip.

I was always a very decent putter with in 10 feet anyway but what I’ve noticed with this the long putts in getting a lot closer now. Think when hitting it harder I went a bit wayward and strike wasn’t good so pace not good. Now getting them a lot closer form distance, even dropping a few. Can’t recommend it enough. It does need a slight change of technique though with the forward press

I found the Odyssey's light when i tested them. Oddly the double wide felt heavier despite being the same head weight. Here's a little nugget of info...each model odyssey square to square putters have a weights that differ heel and toe. I think theres a 10g difference on the double wide and a 20g difference on the jailbird and #7. When increasing the head weight with heavier weights which are widely available on ebay, then you must keep the weight differnce the same between the heel and toe weights, otherwise it becomes unbalanced.
Ive ordered the Jailbird, will get some heavier weights then add lead tape equally as well.

Personally I consider the Zero torque concept to be more marketing and a retread of an old concept. There is a reason why centre shafted putters have never been popular.
But that is just my opinion and is based on my putter swing. My only recommendation is that you get a custom fit for your putter. If the custom fit demonstrates that one of these putters is the right one for you then get that putter.

I owned a LAB DF 2.1 loved the tech and it was amazing on 6ft or less putts but I really struggled with distance control so I moved on. Odyssey came along. I have the jailbird S2S. I added a piece of lead tape to the bottom and I now love it. I was also able to try all three Odyssey models from my pro shop and its costs a huge amount less.
You can try the odyssey’s in most pro shops. You can’t with LAB and the cost difference is huge. This is why I think odyssey will take over from LAB. One other comment I’ll make. With e Odyssey white face you can see if you’ve got the right forward lean. If you see the white face you need more lean.

Hi Andy, I believe the insert on the OZ1i is a steel insert as the body is aluminium, the OZ1 with no insert is an aluminium body.
Steel should be faster off the face than off the aluminium.
While I agree we use the putters the most, the cost feels exorbitant. Offering up charge for graphite shafts to reduce flex? Just how much flex is there at the pace of a normal stroke.
Would this putter save you 5 shots a round?
Good putters can putt with almost anything as it’s about line, pace and stroke consistency.
Having said that I am tempted to go to stockists of these to actually try LAB out

Well, a few thoughts first you’re right everybody seems to spend lots of money on their driver, which they use about 16 times around versus their putter which on average I would imagine people use 40 times around or more. I got fitted earlier this year and I had been using a Scottie a great piece of kit, but I did much better with the lab putter. I ended up getting the lab blade putter because I couldn’t get over the size of the other models even though the pro doing my fitting suggested that I would be best with the 2.1 in any event the switch from the Scottie to the blade lab drop my pets around by 3 1/2. Couple of weeks ago I went in he said how’s the lab working out I said great he goes you know you really should be in a bigger head putter. You’d be doing much better if you went to the 2.1 I said really he said well I play the 2.1. It’s made a big difference in my game And I’m a scratch golfer. I’ve saved about one and a half strokes around since switching well that significant for a scratch golfer, but I’m a high handicap guy. I won’t embarrass myself by telling you how high my handicap is anyway we did a fitting with my new lab and the 2.1 and I sunk eight out of 10 pots With the blade and 10 out of 10 with a 2.1. I ordered and got the 2.1 have not used it on the course yet I asked him about the Odyssey. He said try it. I did thanks. Six out of 10 pots. He looked at me. He said you know I don’t like the badmouth Golf equipment and clearly it comes in at a price point, but it’s really a piece of junk. He said you know if you got a small budget it’s not that bad but given how much you spend on a driver or irons or wedges you should probably invest your most money into a putter cause it’s the club that will make the biggest difference. You’ve already bought two high-end putters. He gave me a good trade-in value on my lab blade and I bought for 2.1. thanks for your review. Love your channel. You do great work.

It’s a contraption you fix a putter inside, and allows you to make a putting stroke whilst holding on to the revealer. If your putter is lie angle balanced, the head of the putter will remain square throughout the stroke (the putter head will not rotate). If your putter is either a face balanced or toe angle balanced putter (normal putter) the putter head will spin around like crazy inside the revealer whilst you make a putting stroke

I am a +2 golfer never ever had a putter fit, but did for the lab putters and tried the square 2 square not even comparable though I do believe lab have a niche in product offering and service. I have ordered oz.1. Blue head black Accra shaft and spec specific to me! Great video and good insight, the biggest variable is cost and commitment, I do think if you are looking for a quick fix square 2 square is a cheap alternative but won’t solve long term issues because of the quality / components compared to a bespoke lab. Take your time with a purchase and weigh up pros vs cons. For me missing putts within 10 foot and under with current gamer has meant change due to lost shot opportunities. Interested to see a video about new drivers vs older driver with correct shaft non stock for people to see and understand! Happy to be the guinea pig if ever required!

Hated the Jailbird. Seemed cheaply made. (too) Light, not 100% sure its really a Lie angle balanced putter or a more centre shafted. But the price is spot on. Thats my 2cents

Better to test putters on an actual green rather than what appears to be a fairway

I want the DF3, bad. I don't like the look of the jailbird. I haven't considered the oz1, but i've tried the df3 a few times and am saving up. Or selling a kidney cause damn . . .

Callaway does not make sq2sq milled face. I prefer milled face plus they need to make milled in left hand putter.

Not one putter is worth over $199. None. I use a Ping Zing ($35 off Craigslist) and a Kirkland. Rarely any three-putts. I barely practice, as well. Sorry, not buying it. Ridiculous.

Totally agree! I bounce between a Meridian Charleston demo (paid $125) and a Rife center shaft Barbados (paid $70 on eBay).
I enjoy both and green speeds dictate which I use. After you find a reasonably priced putter you like, PRACTICE! Practice is free.
