- A while ago i picked up the Quad Lock Mag Case for the 13 Pro Max. It was a long overdue upgrade for the Quad Lock Case.
Due to the fantastic response i received on that video i wanted to do a follow up and address some of the issues people have been having and test out some magsafe chargers to see how it performs.

I have a Quad Lock MAG case for my iPhone 14 Pro Max. I have no issues at all when charging with my original Magsafe charger. Everytime when I'm charging it works.

Interesting…I just bought this case for my iPhone 14 Pro Max and it works fine on all my wireless chargers. And I absolutely love the Quad Lock Wireless MAG charger that I put in my truck. This is my first Quad Lock case but I absolutely love it.

@@MichaelsTechTalk I have two Anker wireless chargers. They are desktop stands that charge my phone and AirPods so it’s a 2-in-1 solution. I also have an older wireless stand in my bedroom which works. It’s some cheap brand that I bought on Amazon a couple years ago.

I only use the magsafe charging when I am in the car and the Quadlock case + the Quadlock magsafe charging bracket works but its definitely not noticeably fast. Its still my favourite case + car mount combo on the market though.

No wireless charging is fast!
I know this sounds weird, but if you slide the Apple Battery Pack in from the bottom of the QuadLock case then it always seems to align properly and charge. Well it does for me when I run my tests.

Thanks for the video! I've changed my 13 pro max for the 13 pro due to the smaller size but the battery is the drawback and I use quadlock. I am exactly at the moment of purchasing both products: The 13 pro's quadlock mag and a magsafe powerbank. Thanks to you I've noticed the apple magsafe powerbank is not the one for me. I came here to do research - I have a 13 Mini and it won’t charge from an Apple MagSafe battery pack while in the Quad Lock cover. I’ve been a long time user of Quad Lock. I love the case and have many accessories. I purchased the new Quad Lock with MagSafe specifically for MagSafe charging. This is a disappointing (and expensive) result. Nice job on the vid. I have had bought battery packs yesterday,and I also using i13mini/Qualock mag safe the same situation as yours ….now I don’t know which one should I give it up,battery or case and it kills me…..
I have the quad lock MagSafe case. I use a Belkin 3 in 1 boost tabletop charger with MagSafe to charge my Apple products. There are some days that it charges my iPhone 13 promax, but it’s inconsistent at best. It charges my iPhone about 1 of every 10 attempts. In order to guarantee it’s going to charge I have to take the case off. The other thing I’ve noticed is that when it does charge in the quad lock MagSafe case, it’s at a much slower rate than with the case off.
I contacted Quad like about the issue. Their response was it’s not our problem. Because they have a Asterix and foot note that essentially says, although we call it a MagSafe case it’s not necessarily compatible with all MagSafe items. This appears to be a way to use the well known MagSafe Brand for advertising and marketing without actually maintaining the standards that are expected.
Eventually, through enough back-and-forth with quad lock, they gave me a $30 credit. I wouldn’t say it made it right, but at least I’m not out the cost of the case. With all the quad lock accessories, I have for driving and cycling. It’s hard to swallow a case change.
Needed a new case for my phone and have been seeing this quad lock gear getting around for a while, bought a mag safe case and a car vent mount… no complaints so far

I have the iPhone 14 Pro in the QuadLock MagSafe Case. I use the Apple MagSafe Duo Charger at night for the iPhone and Apple Watch.
Some nights, it charges perfect, but more often than not, I’ll put the phone on the charger with about 40% battery, and wake up to about 2% battery. I don’t use the QuadLock stand. I’ve tested different charging bricks and different cables, but regardless it seems the phone will disconnect and reconnect every few seconds in a crazy cycle resulting in a depleted battery.
When I remove the case, there’s absolutely no issue charging the iPhone.
Yeah it seems to be quite common with users. The Anker chargers definitely seem to be the most consistent with the Quad Lock MaG case.

I have a third-party charger and it didn’t work well with the Quad Lock case. It would charge intermittently.

UPDATE: I just received my MAG Case for iPhone 13 Mini today. I tested it out with the Apple Magsafe charger and thankfully it works just fine. Charging rate is normal without random disconnections. I also tried it with an Anker Powercore 5K Powerbank. It charges just fine but I feel like it's charging slower than usual or maybe it's just my feeling. Gonna test it our more soon (also with my car magsafe charger). But overall I am quite happy with it.
I rotated my magnet in the case 90 degrees and now it works fine with the Apple Mag charger

Thanks for both videos. I think for MY use case this case is perfect. I use a MOFT magnet wallet on my phone and previous on my iPhone 12 Pro QuadLock case that meant I couldn't use my wallet when I went on bike rides. So the QuadLock case was primarily just a mount used for my bike rides. This new magnet version means I can use my wallet when out and about on rides. Wireless charging seems to be hit or miss depending on the charger. I'll probably stick to a different case for every day use.
I’ve picked up the new version for the iPhone 15 Pro Max so I will be reviewing it once the phone arrives. I’m hoping they’ve improved it.

Just received my MagSafe quad lock case for the new 15 Pro. It doesn’t charge on my Anker but charges on my Satechi. Why….
I have picked this up for the 15 Pro Max, need to see if they’ve made any improvements.
I really appreciate you sharing this, I was legitimately just about to order Quad Lock for my iPhone 14 Pro Max, but I use the standard MagSafe charger, which clearly doesn’t work. Maybe I’m gonna end up with a RAM Mount after all.

I think you hit it on the head of the nail there when it comes to the apple MagSafe charging strength.
Have literally had no issues with other brands that I have, strange you had an issue with the esr magsafe puck though.
I think ultimately as you said in the beginning, they’re great cases. Finding what works with the case is a compromise that really doesn’t have any downsides.

Hey Michael, I know you’re a fan of quadlock and I know the wireless battery charging issues were a concern but quadlock has come out with a magnetic battery designed for these cases and also a wallet

I feel that the thickness to make the back flat is at the borderline of acceptable wireless charging.
I wear MagCase only when I ride a motorcycle.
I usually use a genuine Apple clear case. I don't have to worry about charging.

Interesting. Apple did put out a statement regarding strong magnets having an effect on sensitive components including the gyroscope for the compass but more so the very sensitive components with image stabilisation. I don't know if the Quad Lock cases were approved by Apple.
It's defintely a tought nut to crack for Quad Lock at the minute i think. Trying to find a balance in having a good quality case for extreme sports while not being too thick is a tough one.
Hey, would you be able to test the quad lock MagSafe on a ESR 3in1 gen 2 cryoboost, says it’s a really good Apple certified and really good for the cooling. Would love to see a review on that 3in1 with the MagSafe by quad lock please!!
I can spoil that for you with a comment, it doesn't work.
Quad Lock have purposely made their case to be used primairily with this own accessories which sucks!
Mine randomly didn't charge the other night with the Apple MagSafe charge and Quad Lock Mag Case. I woke up and the battery was nearly dead. It's possible it wasn't aligned properly or something. Apart from that I think it's great. I just need to make sure it's actually charging before I go to bed.
Yeah it can be a bit frustrating that you have to check it's charging. But i agree, it's still a great case!
I only use this case when I’m actually on my motorcycle. As soon as I get done riding I switch cases. I’ve also run into an issue where the MagSafe quad lock case made two of my Belkin 3 in 1 chargers to quit charging. The phone portion stop working

It's still a great case, it just seems to have some teething issues with some Magsafe chargers. Beauty of magsafe, there's loads of options out there.
Thanks for doing this! I could not find anything that was very convincing about what would and wouldn’t work with my quad lock mag case, other than the expensive quad lock chargers. I learned after watching this that Anker is one of only a few manufacturers (wasn’t really able to find any others) that produce a good enough signal that can go through a 5mm case as opposed to the more common 2mm recommended case thicknesses for others.
So looks like I’ll be going with them while I’m in the QL ecosystem.

Having problems with my iPhone 13 also. It won’t charge on my expensive Belkin stand but charges fine on my cheap Ravpower.
I definitely think the official chargers have a weaker Qi charging signal.
Great video and I’m glad it’s just not me who’s got an issue. Weirdly I have an Anker wireless charger (not mag safe) and it charges my phone in the case but a Belkin one I have does not.
I think as much as I love the case I’m going to have to get a new case for sage to day stuff and just keep this for my bike rides as I’ve woken up too many times with a flat battery 🪫

I love my Quadlock case but the fact that it doesn't work well with my Apple or Anker battery pack as well as my Belkin night stand charger. It's very hit or miss. I have noticed Quadlock calls it a Mag case but doesn't actually say Mag safe compatible like other vendors do. This leads me to believe Quadlocks cases are not certified to be MagSafe compatible by Apple.
I have picked up the 15 Pro Max version and full review of it is coming soon.. 👀

Great case and mount but it is flawed as it doesn’t charge with my Audi wireless charger or apple wireless charger or my wireless stand, in fact it doesn’t charge with most other wireless chargers only Quadlocks own devices!! Very disappointing from that perspective, I did try to get in touch and did have a online chat but was told exactly what I just discovered above, so they basically said good luck but only our chargers are recommended, pity they take such a poor customer service stance. But great case just don’t expect it to charge.😢

It is clear QuadLock case is too thick for wireless charging. Yeah, it might say "charging", but the charging will be very slow and not efficient resulting to a lot of heat produced. Nice try from QuadLock but I would not use it for MagSafe charging.

In case anyone asks, the Quad Lock Ring disrupts any mag-pad charging :( Works fine without it inserted, even from half a cm away, but will not charge at all with the ring inserted

I have the same issue using quad lock mag case. It does not charge my iphone 14 pro when using the apple magsafe battery pack. 🙄

I am very disappointed with the quad lock msg case being already heavily invested in MagSafe with this case I cannot use my Belkin MagSafe charger or MagSafe battery pack which is an absolute deal breaker for me. Might I add I have quad lock mounts in the car and on my motorcycle which are now redundant.
Yeah the Magsafe has been disappointing but i still use the use on the bike because the Quad Lock mount is the best option. Not a deal breaker to change my case to go out on the bike.
I think with a mains powered charger it has the strength to get through a potentially thicker case, whereas the battery charging packs don't have as strong of a field because of their portable nature, so they probably can't get through the thicker case
The Anker batteries work with no issues at all, just the Apple one.

How sturdy is the case against fall damage
One thing i can't fault is the sturdyness of this case. Have swore by them for years. Top notch.

It's so frustrating how inconsistent it is.
I’m interested 😅this system for my motorcycle, and before I invest $150 for this, I want to make sure that I can charge my iPhone X on my wireless Anker stand. Which, it appears may or may not work.
You can get the normal Quad Lock case and mount system for the iPhone X, you won't be able to get a Mag version as the Magsafe cases are only for iPhone 12 and above that have Magsafe.
The standard Quad Lock mounts can use a wireless charging head that Quad Lock do and will work perfectly with your iPhone X.
@@MichaelsTechTalk Ah. I was concerned that I would need to swap cases each time. I am still concerned with the price. With all the things needed for my motorcycle/phone, I’m well into 134 plus tax and shipping. Still a lot. I’m looking at other options like Mous.

Unlucky for me, I’m just finding out the hard way.
All I use are Apple certified chargers as I don’t want 7.5w charging. Waste of money
does not work on the anker 3-in-1 cube which is very disappointing as it costs £150!!! Just like you, I have been using quadlock for years and this is the first time I am disappointed with the product.
Awwww that sucks! My Anker chargers have been relatively ok with this case. Haven't tried the cube yet right enough.

What phone are you using? Is it iphone 14 pro max? Planning to buy quad lock for my phone.
@@joeloledan 14 Pro - Quad case does not work with MFI products that will charge at 15w - bought this instead - Anker Charging Station & 20W Charger, Magnetic Wireless Charger (3-in-1 Stand) - its 7w and it works everytime when connecting. It feels like it has a stronger magnet compared to the cube.
My 13 pro max would not charge in quad lock case with the apple magsafe charger with a gorilla glass back glass protector on. Took the back glass protector off and it charges in the quad lock case. But at no more than 10 watts max. Take the phone out of the case with or without the back glass protection it will charge at the full 15 watts. Will get a s23 ultra next month and see how it does.

Looks like if you want to use a quad lock case, you need to get their MAG wireless chargers for full compatibility. Kinda sucks, but it's safer than a RAM mount.

Will this work on a generic (non charging) MagSafe type car dash/vent mount. I want to use a flat type magent mount in my car so I can turn the phone 360 degrees to suit my viewing angles, it seems the Quad Lock Mag head (both charging and non-charging) have the protruding knuckle - it doesn't make sense in a car other than lining it up correctly for Qi/Magsafe charging - but looks like the phone can only be vertical or horizontal 90° or 180° I want more freedom in the car that throw it on Magnet mount and turn it any direction I need it. Prefer to charge with USB C for super fast charging and not get very hot.
Yeah it will work on a non charging MagSafe mount with no issues. The magnetic ring is pretty strong.
Is it possible that they made the second generation case too thick at the back?
It’s hard to tell tbh. The Anker chargers have no issues getting through which is strange.
does not fit well with bely clip and armband. almost impossible to remove it. the grooves in much thinner compared to older non mag version.

Nono the reason why Apple mag safe battery is not charging is because of how the software is set, it won’t charge because it thinks it’s best for the phone battery . Just took the case off and youll see it still won’t charge. And apples charger is definitely weaker too.
I've never had that issue with Apple Magsafe Battery.
I was hoping to be able to use this system on the motorcycle and still be able to use the Apple puck that I installed on a ram mount inside the car , the solution would be to buy also the quad lock mag charger for the car but it’s only going to charge at 7.5 what’s instead of the Apple 15ish , so that ain’t going to work as with Waze running the 15 what charger is barely enough to keep the charge … and I don’t really want to spend extra money again

i have an apple official magsafe puck inside the car , but on iphones 14 evyone has issues charging with this case on, so it would not work and i dont want to swap cases based on what im driving that day , i found the sp connect and mous casese are fully magsafe compatile have mountig systems in the back for motorcycles and what not
We’ve had a problem with the mag car charger from Quadlock. The phone is an iPhone SE2. The phone says it’s charging when connected but does not charge. The battery capacity level does not increase. Also the phone gets very hot. After half an hour connected to the mag head charger the phone shuts down due to overheating. No response back from Quadlock other than we have received your email and we’re very busy, so no solution 🙄
Really hoping it hasn’t permanently damaged the phone. Now having to use it without the charger cable connected 👎🏻

I really like mine, no issues with charging, but the one issue I have found is button stiffness. It normally takes me a few goes to pay using Apple Pay if I’m using my phone as the buttons are so stiff.

Yes the buttons on these Cases are quite stiff for sure. It’s not the phone, it’s the case. Maybe after awhile they will wear in and press easier 👍

Nope. Just a signal strength issue as the case is too thick.
My Apple magsafe batt works well with original magsafe Casetify but not with magsafe Quadlock
It proofs your pack is bad! lol just kidding but I am kinda disapointed in Quadlock case then, they did not put the RnD into making it offical apple magsafe case, people assume it will work because it's a big brand boasting about macsafe. not saying it has it's features it really they call the case MAGSAFE so it should be offical licensed, before you think I must be a apple fan nope, last apple product were the first gen airpods using a samsung phone.. Just checking things out lol

I have a Belkin BoostCharge Pro 3 in 1 magsafe charger. There are some comments that indicate that Quad Lock wouldn’t work with it. Can someone confirm this is the case?
I use the Boostcharge Pro and mine charges with the Mag case with no issues. The only charger I've had issues with is the Apple puck and Apple battery pack.
Apple are very particular about charging strength so that they don't overheat anything so that's probably why their chargers are "weaker." That's not really a problem on Apple's side other than them being strict about not letting anyone say their products are magsafe compatible unless it's thin enough to meet Apple's standards. Won't work though since China exists.
Well Apple do have their MFi Program which manufacturers are welcome to be part of but they don’t want to pay the licensing costs for it. Which is understandable for small startups, but Quad Lock are well beyond that now, should be something they should look at.
Weakness in the apple charger ? If you use the apple battery pack with the apple case and the apple iPhone, they are working?
If you use an anker battery pack on a quad lock case on an iPhone 14 pro , for you that is genuine and if that doesn’t work , it’s a problem with apple ?!!!
Let’s try to use a quad lock case for Samsung galaxy ultra on a iPhone X and then try to charge it with an USB C !

Apple's MagSafe charger came first and works with the iPhone 13 Pro phones. QuadLock should design a product that works with existing chargers. Your blaming this problem on existing chargers is a bit like manufacturers of oversized SUVs claiming parking spaces are badly designed because their cars won't fit.
Facts are facts, the case is too thick for non Quad Lock magsafe chargers.

Apple isn't at fault here.. the case is too thick.
Apple accessories are just overpriced and underpowered. Buy the product such as phones from apple because they are fantastic, but the acessories from other reliable brands. Unless the apple one provide unique functions such as find my ... and similar things then it's worth it
