And yet... he played an instrument in the intro then said he wasn't going to open it so it would be a surprise, but we'd already seen it.

      @NiallBeag ปีที่แล้ว

@sydmccreath4554 Yeah... the only reason I continued watching was because I was curious whether he would talk about what the pickup is.
I was actually wondering if they'd picked up a license to use James Antaki's patented optical free-reed pickup, but I'm guessing not as there's nothing on the internet about the circuitry they're using, so I'm guessing it's just internal mics...

Initially I was shocked that Suzuki sent you so many pieces. Then I saw and heard the beautiful arrangements you created with them. Now I realise that you have don’t more to promote these quirky, fringe, but beautiful sounding instruments than any advertising campaign.

Such a warm, emotional and virtuoso performance you brought to an instrument that was only played by a few up until now. The expressive playing which you breathed life into these instruments, literally, will be regarded as the finest demonstration of what can be achieved with these little boxes of wonder. Thank you, like others I was rather teary after listening to the last piece.

You make me laugh a lot usually, Claudio. But today you made me laugh... and cry. This was reallly an epic Dr Mix episode. But I think that, since Suzuki were so super-generous, you ought to make us another video in which you either invite all your mates round to play them as a melodion orchestra. Or you play them all and layer them up. That would be fun.

My daughters (5 and 7) are more and more interested in learning music and sitting down to the new keyboard I bought some months ago (even for myself to start from scratch again with playing piano after 30 years), but you Claudio also play an increasing role in this experience with your videos.
The girls became your fans in the last months and we all are eagerly waiting for every video from Doctor Mix.
This one with the melodions - beside the jamming, reconstruction and challange videos - was by now their favourite (I had to replay it multiple times 😉).

This is probably my new favorite video of yours!!! I'm always amused by the playing of the Melodica type instruments and you, you just like made my night!!! They were all so beautiful, especially the Andes edition!!! I see why they called it as such, since it definitely mimics the sound of the famous Andean Pan Flutes of South American. And as having a father born in such territory, Andean Flutes make my heart happy. Wow, that last piece you played, it put me in such a melancholic yet happy mood. I could listen to you play that piece for hours! Funny, the first piece. Pinocchio, wow, so pretty too. I mentioned it's funny only because I have a cat, yes, the one as my icon, and his name is Pinocchio...Thank you for sharing your passion for music, artistry, production and musicianship. I came back to view this video again because it is so well done. I am blown away by your talent and wonderful presentations style.
And I wanted to add that the sound of these types of instruments was very popular in TV and Films in the mid-to-late 1960's.
The most noteworthy music score to use this type of sound was "Breakfast at Tiffany's" with the "Moon River" song.
Harmonicas were a thing because of the Westerns. I don't think there was a western anywhere on TV that did NOT use a harmonica type sound.
It also was used in many of the original Twilight Zone episodes... again, mostly those with a "western" theme.
Thanks again for such a fine video!

...ricordo anch'io lo sceneggiato di Pinocchio. Thank you so much for your great version! (...and also for Antonia...)

Bellissimo omaggio al Maestro Fiorenzo Carpi! Quando poi hai suonato Metheny ho pensato che sarebbe fantastico se facessi una cover di It’s For You in omaggio anche al grande Lyle Mays ❤

Thank you for this. I have never heard the melodion played professionally like this. I didn’t even know they had bass and soprano, or wood.
I used to have one when I was a kid that my sisters used at school. Melodeon and recorder were my first instruments

Sounds like a Zelda quest theme.

I really like the 44 one, nice sound and more than enough keys to express.

Great presentation. I went from decades of piano to melodica and love my big hammond pro. It allows a kind of intimate expressive relationship that simply does not exist with digital keyboards.

These all sound incredible and super useful! I had no idea Hammond was making such a variety of high quality Melodica type instruments.

That Metheny tune and that instrument in your expert hands is nostalgia in music form. What a beautiful video. Thank you!!!
