- Ghostbusters II brings back everything you loved about the original. The director, the cast including Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson and Slimer. There's ghosts running amok, there's a big thing stomping around New York but this times there's an evil painting. Anyways it's not as good or as funny. Thanks for watching!

Ghostbusters The Videogame (2009) is essentially Ghostbusters III. It's set in '91 and all the cast returned to voice the characters. You need to do a video on that!
It's such a good game. The story is top, the performances are amazing and it really hit it perfectly by putting YOU in as the rookie rather than playing as one of them.
The way there seems to be weight to the ghosts, the upgrades to the pack, the buddy system and then amazing little things like Vigo pushing out of the painting and insulting you as you walk by it just icing on the cake.
They really made it viable to actually go back and deal with the librarian and to have Stay Puft reappear. Lesser writers would have BUTCHERED this game.
Imagine now if Randy and Co had put as much love and energy and polish into Colonial Marines as they did on this....
Without a doubt this game is the best GB game there COULD be.
I think James and Maso do know about the game. They were basically baiting commenters to mention the video game at the end of this video, mentioning "nothing in between with all the cast returning" for them to look at, seen here 20:03
Remember Maso is a huge Ghostbusters fan. There's no way that he doesn't know about the game. I think they mentioned the game on the podcast too.

First film I ever saw at the cinema. My mum said we were going to the 'pictures', and being the idiot I was, thought we were going to go look at pictures of the film, so was quite naturally blown away by actually seeing the film for real. That day last year was the best day ever.
Another small story: I got to work on the 2016 film many years later.

@@connielingus8385 I was an animator for the final sequence of the giant Roland Ghost. I did a number of shots on it, including where he's holding onto the buildings trying not to get sucked in. It was actually all right to work on. I find that all the films I like working on tend to get the most negative press, so maybe I cursed it somehow :P

I love the courthouse ghost busting. When the chairs start flying the score is perfect.

Exactly.
Probably the neatest thing about Ghostbusters 2 was the scene where they found the river of slime, but then they never really did anything with it for the rest of the movie. It would be like if dana saw dogs and heard someone say zuul in her fridge, but at the end they fought a giant marshmallow man that had nothing to do with any of Dana's refrigerator problems.
Eh? The river of slime rose up toward the end, caused all the ghosts in the city and created an impenetrable shell around the museum. The slime from the river is also a major plot mechanic throughout the film.
They also used the slime to move the statue of Liberty
The slime was later talked about in the video game where they show the "Sloar" mentioned from the first movie who actually made the slime. It also went very into depth about who Shandor is and what he has done
It was explained that the slime had manifested from all the bad vibes and emotions created from the people of the city which helped to feed the paranormal activity that brought about Vigo.

Egon, " and ALL of them pointing to one nexus!"
Venkmann, looks to one then another of the guys, then rolls his eyes.
Egon, "with enuf spiritual, psychokinetic energy in one place we could be looking at a permanent breach between the living and the dead."
Ray slaps his forehead, the cigarette hanging from his mouth, " a full sprectum cross dimensional implosion..!?"
Egon nods his head gravely.
Winston, "we've got to destroy those aqueducts."
Venkmann, "good, you think something up. I'll get dana clear of it."
Although the sequel might not be as good as the first one. But it must be said that "On Our Own" by Bobby Brown is infinitely better than the original song by Ray Parker Jr...
I really like that interaction with Bobby Brown where he asks if his kid brother can have a proton pack. Egon: "The proton pack is not a toy." Ray: "...I guess he's right."
The scenes with the slime in the tub and those long arms reaching out to snag Oscar were genuinely disturbing.
Scared me too...
It was pretty frealy.

I won't deny that Ghostbusters 2 is largely a retread of the first film. but if I'm being completely honest I think it's a good sequel all the same.
I like when Peter MacNicol awkwardly gestures to the painting and exclaims, "is Vigo!" That's the best bit I reckon

When he says "from the upper west side" gets me everytime, idk why, I'm not even from NY.
2 wasn't as good as the first, but it was still a fun time and felt like a GB movie. And I kinda love Vigo... Like when he is monologing and his henchman is like "yes, I've heard this before". Its good stuff.
low key joke missed: when Dana describes her sad bitter divorce and egon secretly records emotions. He doesn't even pretend to care about her and peter.
That was actually a brilliant Egon moment in the sequel. Ramis delivered.
I'm shocked they didn't say my favorite line in the whole movie. "We had part of a Slinky... but I straightened it."
Nah, she asks Egon if Peter ever mentions her and he says "no" and she's like "oh" and then holds up the scanning thing up at her behind her back.
Ghostbusters 3 was the videogame, I believe. Had a lot of the weird dimensional shit in there. Also you could talk to the Vigo painting and Max Von Sydow had many things to say every time you interacted with it.
More fun trivia, the painting in the film is actually a photo. They painted the actor with paints to make him look like a painting so they could both photograph and film it… then when he moved, it didn’t look blue screened etc from the background. The photo/painting is now hanging in the ILM lobby on the Skywalker Ranch.
I've seen unused scenes where they show Vigo in the painting start out in his classic pose and then start moving around within the painting. It looked a lot cooler than just changing to Vigo's floating head over the river of slime. Not sure why they changed it.
This movie is great. Am I taking crazy pills? There are so many quotable lines! "Do you have any hobbies?" "I collect spores and fungus"

There's a Ghostbusters video game with all cast members returning, even Walter Peck that was written by Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis! It expands on some Gozer stuff and is the perfect Ghostbusters III. Please like this so they can see and hopefully visit the game instead
I'm pretty confident that none of these videos have ever been something, but nice to know the guys are checking in on it from time to time to see if they are actually something or nothing.
Rewatched this film the other day and it’s really not that bad. It’s pretty funny and scarier than the original. Obviously not as good but it a pretty good time. Nostalgia played a big part mind as it’s the one I watched the most as a kid

You need to include the 2009 Ghostbusters: The Videogame! The original cast are back (including William Atherton, Annie Potts AND Max Von Sydow) and Dan Aykroyd said that the game is canon, and was loosely based on a older script that was rejected that was going to be Ghostbusters 3.

@@KasumiKenshirou absolutely no idea my friend. I actually seen the real one of the four of them at the short lived Planet Hollywood in Dublin. I csnt remember if there's an explanation but he just pokes his head out (sort of like in the film) and insults you a few times. In my head canon, just like the librarian ghost was there and Marshmallow man, I like to think the events preceding the game sort of 'reset' the ghosts. But who knows?

There is the video game that has all the original cast returning with a story written by Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis that was based of what was going to be Ghostbusters 3. Made in 2009 and remastered in 2019.
No! You watch Oz first, then Sopranos, then the wire.. They all built of each other sharing writers, directors and cast members.. They don't play the same characters but it's always fun when you go from oz and then to the other ones and see how many actors they share (it's allot..) Michael B Jordan had a tiny role in the sopranos before being cast in the wire

Ghostbusters 2: The Most Underrated Sequel Ever? The Louis Tully defense scene, particularly the moment when Venkman is leading the attorney, is a comedic moment that has never been matched nor will ever be matched again in cinema. Let's also not forget Venkman's disappointed "Yeah, I know Bassmasters", and Spengler's perfectly in-character attempt at creating a character by simply saying "YO!" Classic..and I love life because if it.
Still, obviously highly derivative of the first one, but I think the laughs are new, nuanced, character based, and just as subtle as ever.
The flaws highlighted are valid as always though guys.

Always gives me a giggle that David Prowse didn't think his voice would be dubbed. I mean, "Ooh arh, oi loikes the princess, oi do! Now, toime to plough me back forty."
The big problem is that the original movie was about a bunch of potty-mouthed, boozy, chain smoking blue collar workers in a realistically grimy New York who happen to save the world. The sequel came out when The Real Ghostbusters had turned millions of kids into fans of the franchise, and the executives clearly wanted in on that market so all that stuff that adds character is gone. They don't smoke or swear any more, Peter's sleaziness is turned down, everything looks fresher and cleaner than it did. THAT SAID: the scene with Louis trying to defend them in court is funnier than anything in the first film and the scene of Janoz's eyes lighting up in the dark hallway is legit scary, again more so than anything in the first film. So it has moments where it's almost really, really good but it never quite commits to them enough and ends up feeling a bit like a vanilla family movie with scary bits in, like The Addams Family.
Yeah. There was clearly a mandate to make this a kids movie instead of a movie about morally questionable the Orkin Men.
They shoulda just left it. Most of my kids watch Ghostbusters. I haven't even tried to show them the second one.
And this one wasn't even as skeezy as a lot of other hit movies they tried to franchise for kids. See also: Beetlejuice, Robocop, Highlander

Ghostbusters The Video Game is based on an unused third movie script written by the boys from the originals, and the game is voiced by everyone from the originals. It has some pretty great 1 & 2 Easter eggs, and is a pretty good story involving the ghost of the architect from 1 (Ivo Shandor) returning, while Walter Peck keeps an eye on the main Ghostbusters. Pretty fun game, I’d love to see a Caravan of Garbage cover that!

Re the cult of Gozer: this is a BIG part of the plot for the semi-official GB3 story, of Ghostbusters: the Game. Max Von Sydow even returns (sort of) as Viggo the Carpathian!

I know you were saying “there’s nothing more with the original cast” but the 2008 video game was co-written by Aykroyd and Ramis and is starring the original cast for the 4 Ghostbusters. It really is functionally Ghostbusters 3. (And it’s fucking great)

My aunt took me to see this in Dublin in 1989. I was obsessed with GB, as my nephew is now, but we got a small soda can with the Gb2 logo on it.. And empty can and a note saying it contained a ghost and not to open it. My younger sister did and I used the logo sticker from my Ecto helicopter to seal the ghost back in! She was a right Walter Peck that day! Great video as usual lads. I enjoy every Tuesday a walk to work and listening to this, rain or shine. Hope you lads are good and enjoy Afterlife! You could almost FEEL the strain of pulling some ghosts towards you...i know there's a remaster but a total overhaul and updated version with extra levels and the missing parade level and the haptic feedback and all would be put if this world.

I liked this movie. It's not as good as the first, but I still enjoy it a great deal. There's a lot of good fun in it.

I think they know. They were sounding really cheeky when they were saying there's nothing else for them to lack at before watching the 2016 movie.
The editing on these = **SO GOOD!** Love all the little zooms and effects like the Statue of Liberty and a shopping cart floating down the river, hahaha. You’ve got a clip for everything and it never fails to impress. Also, Peter MacNicol as Janosz is one of my favorite parts of this movie. I used to run around doing his accent, saying “everything you’re doing is bad, I want you to know this”, “yes you told me this, the scourge, sorrows, I’ve heard all of this, yes” and then screaming “VIGO, COMMAND ME, LORD!!” and “why am I drippings with goo” Hahahaha, I basically just did an impression of that character for years afterwards.

Before the game came out, the original "unofficial Ghostbusters III" was actually a novel that was in limited printing for a while called "GHOSTBUSTERS: THE RETURN". I don't remember much of the plot other than it involved Venkman running for mayor of New York and I think an even bigger Gozer/Zuul threat was brought in. I have a copy and plan to re-read it at some point
I think it's actually available on a GB fan site. I love the novelisation of the first one.. Adds so much bavkstory and lore. I think that book you have is actually fairly rare mate.
Huh. Venkman getting a TV talk show and then running for NYC mayor kinda makes perfect sense.

I hate when people always say “I wish we got ghostbusters 3 Dan Aykroyd always had an idea” like have you seen “nothing but trouble” that man should not have creative freedom
Ghostbusters should not have sequels or reboots etc. period. It was a good movie but it was very much of its time. Just let these things rest.

There's an animated ghostbuster tv series "The Real Ghostbusters" which in fact is a hoot. I'll go out on a limb and say it's probably definitely better than the recent ghostbusters. You should make a Caravan of Garbage on it sometime.

I can't earnestly believe they went into Ghostbusters II wanting to make it child friendly considering it is a FAR more disturbing film for kids than the first one. The heads on pikes on the train tracks, the slime in the tub reaching for Oscar, Ray getting possessed by Vego at the end, Ghost nanny Peter MacNichol and his glowing red eyes in the hallway...but hey it's okay because the Ghostbusters don't light up a Marlboro for the whole movie so kids'll be fine >_>
The Cartoon "The Real Ghostbusters" had a huge run between the first & second movie.. GB2 was all about capturing those kids... like me!

Damn, I wish you were doing Evolution next week instead of Ghostbusters 2016. I think it's sorely underrated, and much funnier than Ghostbusters 2.
