A lot of us have gyms in our basements where headroom is limited. You should do a series on racks and cable machines for spaces 8 feet and under. Even much of the space saving equipment is still too tall for even an average height ceiling.
I so understand the working out alone part. I worked on board a supply ship a few years ago, and we had a tiny gym, with little equipment (but still all you needed), and I still miss that little room. You had total freedom and no distractions. No waiting for someone to finish.
The problem with a home gym is that you lose half the benefit of going to a commercial one: the inspiration you get from seeing other people experiencing the same pain.
@Benny Quintanilla do you even know what a SSB is? its supposed to tilt you forward in the hole, its not a bad squat. Do that with a straight barbell and then we can talk about poor technique
Nice little setup. I purchased 90% of my gym basically at one time as well, and have plans to improve/add/change things over the next year. However, basically everything my wife and I wanted and needed was purchased immediately. If you're ever passing through the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene area you're always welcome to stop by! 😄

@@markkealy4417 he’s talking about how instead of leading with his head upwards , he’s performing more of a good morning squat than a traditional squat by bringing his head up on a more perpendicular angle putting force into his lower back more than legs and glutes and at such a heavy weight a “cheat” like that can be very damaging to the lower back . Good mornings have their place , but it’s typically lighter weight so the lower back isn’t destroyed . Nice gym! We bought our first house about 9 months ago that came with a 400sq ft (almost brand new) shed in the back that I couldn't wait to start building a home gym in. I bought the Rogue RM-4 rack with some add-ons, Ohio Power Bar along with over 300ibs of bumper plates (wanting a set of steel next), I have the Ironmaster Dumbbells that go up to 125ibs with the stand, a cheaper lat machine that's weight loaded but come to find out later that Ironmaster DB plates work with it lol. I bought several horse stall mats from Tractor Supply. I use the original Ironmaster bench with almost all of the attachments and it works great with a few cons. So far it's been great. I still have a wishlist of things to add such as a functional trainer and a piece of cardio equipment among other things, but if you can swing the money to grab yourself your own gym it pays for itself over time.
Yeah? Try regularly over 104 and up to 125 in your "special" units, over here in Australia during summer. I also live in a house with no aircon, atm. Do I win the pissing contest? ;)
Appreciate it, Buddy! It's been quite the journey building it from a squat rack to what it is now. I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase a lot of the equipment in one shot, but as Coop always says, you're garage gym is never officially "finished" :)
Dude I have a buddy that lives in Horace which is about 15 minutes from Fargo. It gets friggin' cold there. I was there 2 years ago for New Years. It was negative 36 degrees. It gets hella cold there. I'm glad he has that heater in there.
I am with this guy right here. I like to lift by myself also because I have had 4 friends come to my home gym and work out with me but it is such a slowed down workout when you have people who are not able to lift the same weight you are spending more time resetting the weights then actually working out. There are also the others who like to talk all day instead of throwing weights! Sweet gym wish I saw this before I bought a squat rack and all this bulky equipment =(
Thank you for sharing the size of your garage gym, I was thinking of building something similar, now I finally gave up as your garage is half the size of the surface of my entire 2 story house 😢.
What are you guys talking about? His back isn't bending, it's his hips shooting up because safety squat pulls you forward similar to a front squat. If anything he needs to work on anything, it's thoracic strength, but the squat looks safe to me, just a bit of a hitch.
Iam debating between selling my short 3x3 prx wall rack to replace it with a rogue wall foldable rack to use rogue trolley arms.. Iam not sure if I can use the rogue trolley/leverage arms with my prx rack, gotta find out. Let me know please. Don't want to sell my prx rack. So specializing in not going up and down to store bars, but your 6 bar storage requires you to go up and down? Or did I not hear what he said correctly
The 35# plates that are so thick make you look strong or actually strong? Lol. Either way, drop the weight, correct the form, and then less people will criticize you. 🤦🏽♂️
Well since he helps develop he should do a attache able pully cable for pulls and more that can still be out of the way. But I need a rack like that since I have so little space from my ceiling and floor I don't want to have to dig into the ground to make a rack fit because my floor is foundation using a old storage basement thats 8 by 12 not perfect but just right enough to fit a 6ft heavy bag a incline adjustable bench pullys wall mounted. So rack bar and weights are what I need but bar ima go cheap since I don't need 500 plus till I get a good deal ill be making molds for weights to make them out of cement. I have dumbbells and a treadmill. But that's all I need over all so can't weight to get to be able to have a squat rack. I do have a 70 plus lbs weight vest. So squats for now will be 1 leg till I out grow that. I have a small weight tree for dumbell plates. Can't wait till I can afford 😩 a barbell weights and a rack
The only way I can think to make that squat rack better is to have a adjustable base for smaller spaces to have it fold up. Just make the legs shorter so it can fold away since people like I can have a lower ceiling and still fit.
