I can't remember the last time I saw Wii games at GameStop, but my goodness do I miss the era of seeing them regularly for super cheap. That aside, I love the video, Jay. I'm planning to make a conscious effort next year of playing more of my backlog and playing the games I have as opposed to buying more. Even this year, I gave myself permission to replay some of my favorite games, even if it meant I didn't finish them. I think there can be a lot of pressure always be buying and playing the next best thing, which admittedly is mostly self-induced for me, but it can be very freeing when you give yourself persmission to just play your backlog. Replay a favorite game. Just get back to playing games the way we did when we were kids...for the sheer joy of playing them. Great video, Jay!
I can totally identify with a lot of what you said! There is also pressure as a streamer or content creator to buy new games and share pickups on twitter or TH-cam, or stream the newest titles. But I will always fall back on the classics. Thankfully my audience can appreciate the simple beauty in the older JRPGs! Played Tales of Phantasia all afternoon just grinding and enjoying the combat! Thanks for watching! ❤️
Honestly man I really enjoyed this conversation you presented here. I do think many people buy lots of games and frankly we'll never have all the time to play/beat them. This is why I'm super particular about my purchases and overall how many things I buy. You're low key making me wanna do a video about this now lol. Great stuff! 😅
Interesting topic and interesting timing! Around this time every year, I take stock of my backlog and make plans to buy fewer games in the new year. And like any good New Year’s resolution, I abandon it by around February, lol.
Yeah, I imagine I have little chance of following through with it proper, but it is important to think about and at least try and slow down! Thanks for watching! ❤️
I try to keep my collection curated because I get overwhelmed with too much of something, but even then I sometimes give in to FOMO 😅 Good discussion tho and I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying streaming. keep that up 👏🏽 Btw love pusheen beanie
If I spend any amount of time thinking about the immensity of gameplay hours that exist in my backlog alone, I go into a full-on existential crisis.....😅
Just finished watching and great video. I think these are all important points. I have been really focusing on what I’ll play or enjoy rather then just overspend on the back log
Really love making these type of videos! We'll be talking about it more in depth tonight on the PlayStation Collector's podcast! Thanks for watching! ❤️
I have a similar PS4 collection as I thought it was a great place to "stop" and buy bargains/remasters and not worry about the next set of consoles. It is very valuable to keep these numbers in mind. Keep up the streaming and sharing you are so relatable and do such great work! Also, makes for a great reason to sell off collections you may not get to play anyways.
I'm definitely guilty of this, just like so many. Especially those sales haha. Now I've been better this year. For Black Friday, I only bought 4 games this year. Interesting topic and discussion
These are important things to think about! Something I've been trying to do when considering new game purchases is ask myself when I'll play them, realistically. It's hard to resist good deals, but then I think: if I buy 5 $30 games that I'll never play, what's the point? 🤔 Great video Jay, thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I've winded down my newer game buying considerably. Every now and then, something like Fantasian Neo Dimension will get me (an older re-release), but finding the time to really sink my teeth into a game like that at my age, it would really have to grab me. And content wise, viewers do happen to enjoy the older backlog for content, rather than anything more recent. It's fascinating how that works
You look so different with a completely shaved face, and so young looking too! Great video Jay, I've actually sold some games from my Switch collection because I've realised I'll never be able to play through and beat every single one 😅
Bit of an eye opener there, but as someone that has more of a decade on you, I don't even need to catalog to know I will not get to play all of the games I own (and on work days, I am lucky if I will get 45 min). Having said that though, my kids will at some point pick up the slack if I don't get to it or want to get rid of something (especially my daughter who owns several consoles). There is probably some stuff I should sell off too and release it into the Great Material Continuum (that reference is on the tip of your tongue... isn't it...)
It's absolutely mind boggling when you stop and think about it that there are games in my collection that I will never actually play let alone even put in the game console and turn it on either. 💥 💥
My bro I touched on this in my learning to let go downsizing video. It's nice to see you put out a video similar with statistics. When we actually start looking at our collection and realizing we're probably never going to get to all these games. That we're going to die before we even played an hour of each one. It really makes you wonder why am I even doing this? I know people that have several thousand switch games. And that's just that console on top of everything else they have. When you started to name off all the games you have for different consoles my jaw dropped. I wish I had that many PS1 games I would give up most of my PS4 to have that. I truly believe it's quality over quantity. And I know I won't stop buying games completely. But if it's a game I just want to play I'll get it on a PC. If it's a game I absolutely love for my favorite genre then maybe I'll buy the physical. But getting every game physical or a game that looks slightly interesting that should be a pass. I've been getting so many games for free through Amazon Prime GOG and demos to try on Steam Not to mention crazy digital prices on PC with Humble bundles etc. that I can pick up a lot of these games without buying the physical and truly see if there's something I want. I want to change the way I collect so that my collection truly embodies me and it's something more special. Also I'm running out of room and I think I like my action figures more. Lol 😅😅😅

Smart way to do it! I love the beanie, been using it forever for streams! 💜 Thanks for watching, Mandy!

Doom! 💀 Thanks for watching, dude! 😎
Seriously the truth. I'm hoping someone in the family plays the games I buy.
@Str8upWizardCJ 💯
Just finished watching and great video. I think these are all important points. I have been really focusing on what I’ll play or enjoy rather then just overspend on the back log
Great strategy! I need to buckle down for sure, things have been getting out of hand! Thanks for watching! ❤️
Straight discussion, and a good springboard into collecting things in general. Made me think a little this morning!
Really love making these type of videos! We'll be talking about it more in depth tonight on the PlayStation Collector's podcast! Thanks for watching! ❤️

I actually managed to skip the Black Friday deals this year! Might be the first time ever lol Thanks for watching! 😎
Old gamers never die. They just respawn at another level my friend.
I'll be playing my backlog in Heaven! lol Thanks for watching, rude! ❤️ 😇

Its true
Thanks for watching! ❤️💖

Yeah, I can't resist things like the Suikoden remasters and Xenoblade X DE! Thanks for watching! ❤️

Great choice! I love my games, but I've gotta cool it at some point! Thanks for watching! ❤️
I always think of these games as my retirement plan 😅 I'll have more time to game when I'm older 😅 great video
Retirement plan! Love it! Thanks for watching, NGG! ❤️

The great gaming Time Wars! Yeah, unfortunately my son doesn't seem to be interested in the same genres as me! 😆 Thanks for watching!
**Looks at the Flipping the Switch project....... Runs away whimpering at the enormity of it.
The origin story...Thanks for watching! 😀
Here from FUZE!
Such a wonderful place! Thanks for stopping by! ❤️
The steam sales always get me. 😂 Way too many games to go through
They can certainly be tempting! Thanks for watching! ❤️
The backlog is no joke I to should stop buying games but I just bought a gba of Shin Megami Tensei and a fan made Yugioh Pokémon game 😮
Yeah, things always seem to pop up and be irresistible! That Yu-Gi-Oh Pokemon hybrid sounds sweet! Thanks for watching! ❤️

Room eventually becomes an issue for sure. Had to get storage units! 😕 Time to slow down! Thanks for watching! ❤️
@ColdNightsGaming my mom has suggested the same lol but I'm too worried someone would break in.
Shutdown machinegames studio in 2025
I'm curious to see how that Indiana Jones game will turn out. We'll see how it goes! 🤠
