I absolutely hate the type of screws they used for this. I was going to change the front brake lines and ended stripping the screw really bad, had to buy a used master brake cylinder for replacement. Before I swap everything I'm going to get the same cover you got so I don't have any issues again.
I just had the same problem TODAY ...I did some reasearch and there is a thing called SPEED-OUT extractor drill bits ... Chock it up in the drill and it will take out striped screws/broken bolts.....super easy to use and it worked for me.......I need new screws now...do you know the size?
get a piece of rubber ...balloon, glove whatever and put it in the screw area ..place your screwdriver over the rubber and it should give it some grip to turn
you want to use a JIS screwdriver on Japanese Bikes to prevent stripping the nut. #2 size JIS normally. Its similar to Philips head but slightly different. JIS = Japanese Industrial Standards
why did you clean the rubber?
I just like to have things clean

Yes the screws they provide are sometimes garbage that’s why it’s always a good idea to replace it with better stronger ones

I believe they are 3mm or 6mm not 100% just take your original to the hardware store and they will match it up for you.

what covers are on the fork top near the handle ?
I will be posting that video soon for the fork stem and center cap covers with a link to them
OEM yamaha fork cap covers, cheaper just to get replacement fork caps that adjust though.
here is a direck link for that video per your request th-cam.com/video/YexCSLAgmb8/w-d-xo.html
