I have never had any pain with the newer B&M vest restraints, I personally find them incredibly comfortable. I can see how they can hinder airtime on dive coasters but on winged and inverted coasters, I think they are definitely more comfortable than the old B&M over the shoulder restraints. As someone who isn't very tall, I get a lot of head baning on coasters like raptor at Cedar Point. Banshee is actually one of my favorite coasters and I have never personally gotten stapled on it.

I have never had a problem with them either. I also can get a lot of headbanging with their ORSR, especially on Raptor. Wing coasters & flyers would be guaranteed constant headbanging if not for the vest restraints. On the dive coasters with vest restraints, if you don't staple yourself, you will still get good airtime. Most people tend to staple themselves without realizing it.

What's weird with Skyrush's restraints is that I've gotten wildly different experiences each time I've ridden. Last time I rode it in the front row (non-wing) I felt absolutely nothing on my legs, but the first time I ever rode it (second-to-last row, wing seat) I was grimacing on the break run. I still love Skyrush overall but man I wish Hershey would invest a little in some new restraints.

No wonder why they call it Thigh Crush instead of Skyrush. The more minimal the restraint the better the ride experience. Buzz bars for mild rides, loose lap bars for moderate rides, and comfortably snug but, loose enough for airtime lap bars for intense rides. For intense rides where torsos are prone to fall forward, a vest restraint with the vest straps feeling weightless and the lap bar being comfortably snug while allowing ample room for airtime and preventing your torso from falling forward, or just go with soft or semi-soft horse collar OTSRs.

I’m neutral on the B and M over the shoulder restraints. They’re fine on smoother rides like Talon but hurt like hell on something like Firebird. El Torro has fantastic restraints as long as you get room which I did the one and only time I got on it. I was playing with the seatbelt the whole way up debating how loose I wanted it. I was practically standing on some of those hills. I also like the restraints on Superman Ride of Steel. Not a fan of the grab handle restraints on Twisted Timbers. Too restrictive and they kinda hurt ur legs if u do get room. Oh and of course gotta love the clam shell restraints.

As someone on the heavier side, having restraints that don't pinch but are secure is so important. Seatbelt/lap belt combos have been a favorite of mine as I don't have to worry about an over the shoulder or vest binding my chest. This makes the combo so good because I can enjoy good airtime in coasters without loops while feeling secure but not like I'm squeezing in. Damn, now I'm missing the Jaguar at Knott's Berry. Moving after you've found a favorite coast can be rough...

The newer Intamin Blitz restraints are amazing, they don't staple you, and if they do, it kinda moves so you can still get airtime. They are extremely comfy and are very free! Also there isn't a bar between your legs, they are kinda like the mack rides, but than better and won't move during the ride, unless you push it down. First time I rode it. I got a ton of ejector airtime off the first hill. At the time I was maybe4'9" and weighed roughly 90lb. So the laobar on it's lowest setting didn't even come close. Man that coaster is sentimental to me

I love the vest restraints on Thunderbird, and wing coasters like it. I don't find them to tighten while riding, but I do like the fact that they do sit close on you with a little give (being made of rubber). It makes it feel totally safe for the ride to keep you upside down for long periods of time, where many other restraints would feel unsafe when that happened.

I think that the B&M vest restraints are very comfortable although the only ride with them I’ve been on is Galactica at Alton towers which was the ride that the vest restraints were specifically designed for as it was the Original B&M flyer. Also the lap bars on Thirteen (also at Alton towers) are really good and provide a nice pop of air time during the drop track section

The B&M vests are a quandary for me, because they're super comfortable when used on a Flying coaster, but they SUCK on everything else. RMC lapbars are fine, but they really need to figure out how to make them a little easier to open.
Staple story: SFNE., Superman (then Bizzaro) R.O #1 pushed my bar down nice and tight. Like... no room at all, but still comfortable. Then, R.O. #2 came by and literally JUMPED UP OFF THE GROUND before shoving down on my lapbar with his whole body weight. It was my one and only ride on that coaster, and I was in pain the whole time.

I hate the restraints on the Superman roller coaster in Darien Lake, New York, They’re too giving and they don’t secure properly. I’m a big Guy, but not fat, and I was holding the restraint down with my arms. I,very been riding Roller Coaster’s for 55 years and never had an issue or problem. But with the Superman ride, it’s only a matter of time before something awful happens, it a ride waiting for the right moment and bam, it’s going to hit the fan. I really enjoyed Your Video, Thanks

There's nothing wrong with the Intamin T-Bars but they definitely feel open and leave you exposed. It's only dangerous if you're bigger than the train was designed to handle, or if you are missing limbs. The coaster you mention actually did have an amputee fall out of it once, which is why parks have a rule about that

I had a new ride op who tried real hard to staple me on Twisted Timbers. But I asked him and the more experienced one for room so it worked out and they didn’t try the second time I rode. But I’m totally gonna use your shin guard trick if I ever get on another RMC.

  • @jake9500

I’d choose the traditional B&M over the shoulder restraints instead of the vest restraints. The over the shoulder restraints really fit rides like the classic B&M inverts, they also have a more nostalgic feel than the best restraints.

  • @Jarekthegamingdragon
    @Jarekthegamingdragon 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

What? The maverick's restraints are comfortable as hell. How in the world are they bad at all? The B&M vests are also HANDS DOWN the best restraints. No discomfort at all and I LIKE feeling secured in the coaster. The hang time argument seems silly, I don't want to feel like I'm going to fall out.

You should show this video to all the GP workers at PTC. They believe retrofitting coaster trains with ratcheting lap bar restraints will make the ride safer, but buzz bars are not even close to being dangerous! If only everybody was a coaster enthusiast...

I know it's not a roller coaster, but I LOVE the S&S Drop Tower restraints. The face that I can scoot forward when they check them, then once we lift up, I scoot back and have several inches of room. Then you get absolutely thrown upwards at the start of the drop. They are awesome.

My home park is Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and let me say….spot on with that SLC. Kong is a very rough ride that give you whiplash like nothing else, along with the headache. Needs to be torn down yesterday.
As for RMCs, I’ve actually never ridden one because it’s a lap bar on a coaster that does inversions and that always made me nervous. I do know they’re extremely popular and I’m gonna conquer my fear when I visit Magic Mountain next month. Twisted Colossus, here I come. 😁

I have not been on too many different roller coasters yet, but my favorite restraints are the ones found on Schwarzkopf Jet Stars. It's literally just a seatbelt with handles on the sides of the car like on Whizzer at Six Flags Great America or like on Tig'rr at my home park to reopen, Indiana Beach. My least favorite restraints are the ones on the Intamin Impulse coasters like Vertical Velocity(SFGAm) because I always seem to get headbanging going up the front spike which really takes away from the short ride experience
Edit: I also love the Buzz bars found on Cornball Express and can't wait for the reopening to get some more awesome airtime and feel the supposedly 4.7 g on a Woodie!

One time, I was riding Skyrocket at Kennywood. It was almost closing, so they were rushing. I had about a foot of room, and the operator didn't even push down the room. I was holding on for my life because of how strong the airtime was. Such an underrated ride.
