      We don’t have anything that could really be considered smooth here, so it’s tolerable in comparison to rides like Roar and Mind Eraser.

    Let’s hope the Cedar Fair influence can help Six Flags America and St. Louis. They need to RMC Roar and the Boss like, yesterday. That would do wonders for both parks.

    • @OklahomaCoasterFan
      @OklahomaCoasterFan ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Unfortunately, the merger may actually kill the chances of that happening. Cedar Fair refuses to work with RMC anymore. Six Flags was the one willing to work with RMC, so unless the Six Flags influence is far stronger, Roar & Boss won't be RMCd.

    • @Posirep
      @Posirep ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @OklahomaCoasterFan because being a Cedar Fair park has really helped Michigan's Adventure and Valleyfair!

    • @OklahomaCoasterFan
      @OklahomaCoasterFan ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Posirep I'm confused. I mentioned that Cedar Fair won't work with RMC again. That's not related to what you brought up, which is certainly true. Yes, those parks have been more neglected, but I don't see how that opens the door for Cedar Fair/Six Flags to do RMC Boss.

    • @MarsJenkar
      @MarsJenkar ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@OklahomaCoasterFanIt's difficult to say which manufacturers are going to be frozen out or allowed back in after the merger; it's just too soon, and it's being presented as a "merger of equals" rather than a takeover by one side or the other. It could be that RMC gets frozen out because of Cedar Fair's bad experience, or they're given another chance because of the better experiences in the Six Flags chain. Similar things could be said for Gerstlauer and possibly even Intamin. We just don't know at this point, and we'll need to wait and see how this all shakes out.

  • @xj-may
    @xj-may ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I’ll say for Premier, as a KI local, our Flight of Fear has been running pretty badly both this and last year. I believe it’s moreso a train issue than a track issue since the roughness varies from ride to ride, I’ve had rides this year that were just kind of rattly and others that were brutally rough. Hoping they get new trains soon to fix that but as it stands, still a fun ride, just, not really worth the crazy long line it always has

      @@cdnkartflight of fear at ki and KD is definitely the roughest premier coaster ever, with or without ots restraints, and definitely rougher than joker's Jinx, this coming from someone who lived in MD near six flags America for most of my life. The new six flags cedar fair behemoth needs to remove flight of fear and backlot from both ki and KD as soon as possible, along with anaconda from KD. Erase the ugly stain of the paramount era from two otherwise good parks ASAP!

    • @cdnkart
      @cdnkart ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @anthonyfinch8118 would you rather have nothing than those coasters? Sure, Backlot stunt is nothing exciting, but it attracts riders from other rides and is good for families, just like Goliath at sfmm reopening will pull (a few) people, and theoretically make other lines shorter.

    I just rerode Corkscrew at Cedar Point this past summer. It was not an enjoyable experience. Not headache inducing, but definitely not the smoothest track or transitions, even for an Arrow. It’s Cedar Point’s oldest steel coaster, and that’s saying something.

    Maurer: Insider at Wiener Prater stands out as the only rough spinner. Their mice in general are horrible.
    RCCA: Bandit at Movie Park. I came off seriously worried about my ability to procreate.
    RMC: Untamed is not rough, but the unforgiving lap brick, shin guards and constant ejector makes for an uncomfortable ride.
    SBF Visa: Viking at Energylandia. Spinning mouse. OTS restraints. What were they thinking?
    Schwarzkopf: Olympia Looping, mostly due to tightening accordion restraints.
    Vekoma: Take your pick, but El Condor, the prototype SLC, stands out. I've yet to try the new trains.
    Zampera: Any Volare. Nuff said.

      I've ridden it a few times. It's been SBNO for a while now. As with any Arrow you already know it's gonna be rough...but just HOW rough it will be is always the crapshoot. Of the CLASSIC Arrow Design, Viper at SFMM is one of those Arrows that looks like you will need a chiropractor at the end but surprisingly it's smooth. Tennessee Tornado at Dollywood is a PRIME example of what Arrow Coasters COULD have been but too little too late. Not to add to the echo chamber but Tennessee Tornado is probably the smoothest Arrow you will EVER Ride due to the move from Scaffolding Support Structure to a B&M Emulated Support Structure as well as one of the first Computer Sided Designed Arrows. Arrow: Corkscrew at MichAdv rode quite smooth on my July rides. Having not ridden Desperado, I'd say Thunderation edges out Steamin Demon.
    B&M: Totally agree! I've ridden it 3x, front & back, terrible.
    CCI: Based on my July rides, I now say Shivering Timbers is rougher than Boss.
    Chance: I was fine with Swiss Toboggan, but it probably is the roughest by default.
    Dinn: Wolverine Wildcat was running like a dream in July, so smooth except some bouncing at the end. Timber Wolf was great this year on a non-wheel seat. My active pick would be Thunder Run, but including defuncts, Texas Giant was easily the roughest.
    GCI: It was Roar, but now, their roughest is easily Zambezi Zinger.
    Gerstlauer: Iron Shark was rougher for me, but the lap bars make it okay.
    Gravity Group: Mine Blower was rougher than Hades 360 for me, but probably not anymore.

    Maurer: Tolerable, but yep.
    Morgan: Wild Thing for the figure 8 section.

    S&S: Steel Curtain was one of my smoothest coasters ever. Hellcat was closed on me, so my pick is easily GaleForce.
    Schwarzkopf: Mind Bender's helix was brutal for me, so that's my pick.
    Skyline: No experience.
    Togo: My only one was the glossy smooth Ultra Twister at Astroworld.

    I went to King's Dominion a few months back. My idiotic self made the incredible decision to ride the Anaconda in the back row. Worst mistake of my life. My head was getting beaten and bruised by the hard over the shoulder restraint the whole time, and out of all 31 different coasters I've ridden (yes I know I'm a noob) Anaconda places 32nd. Roughest arrow coaster by far. On the bright side of my KD trip, I-305 is the goat and ranks #1 for me

      Next time, do Anaconda in an odd-numbered row, the front row of any car. Wheel seats (even-numbered rows) are bad on it, but non-wheel seats are tolerable. Also, grab the restraints and keep your head forward.

    For each manufacturer's roughest coasters, as of October 2024, here is mine (In order of how many I've ridden from each manufacturer):
    - Vekoma (4 coasters total): Mind Eraser at Elitch Gardens.
    - Intamin (4 coasters total): Half Pipe at Elitch Gardens.
    - Mack (4 coasters total): Journey to Atlantis at Seaworld San Diego.
    - Premier (3 coasters total): West Coast Racers.
    - B&M (3 coasters total): Emperor.
    - Gerstlauer (3 coasters total): Adrenaline Peak.
    - S.D.C (2 coasters total): Olympic Bobsleds (S.D.C Galaxi layout)
    - Wiegand (2 coasters total): Alpine Coaster at Glenwood Caverns.
    - Hopkins (2 coasters total): Desert Storm.
    - Layouts from John Pierce (1 coaster total): Twister 3: Storm Chaser.
    - Schwarzkopf (1 coaster total): New Revolution.
    - GCI (1 coaster total): Apocalypse the Ride
    - Morgan (1 coaster total): West Coaster.
    - Fredrick Church Layout (1 coaster total): Belmont Dipper.
    - Skyline Attractions (1 coaster total): Tidal Twister.
    -Arrow (1 coaster total): Gold Rusher at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
    Manufacturers that didn't have sufficient information to be included:
    - RMC (2 coasters total): Twisted Colossus and Wonder Woman Flight of Courage I didn't see any roughness, any notable differences, nor any potential discomfort moments, along with Wonder Woman Flight of Courage not being fully documented from my experience.
    - E&F Miler (1 coaster total): Blazin Buckaroo wasn't rough, nor significant to note.
    - Zamperla (1 coaster total): Speedy Gonzales Hot Rod Racers at Six Flags Magic Mountain was perfectly smooth, not significant enough to mention, and not theoretically uncomfortable excluding the trains.
    - Zierer (1 coaster total): Wild West Express at Glenwood Caverns is too small, nor uncomfortable enough to get a mention.
    - S&MC (1 coaster total): Cliffhanger at Glenwood Caverns I would only describe as rough on the high-speed sections, however, both of my S.D.C coasters are extremely similar to this coaster in terms of roughness and felt redundant including this manufacturer.
    - Reverchon (1 coaster total): Crazy Mouse was smooth, so nothing notable in roughness needed to be mentioned.
    - Bradley & Kaye (1 coaster total): Timberline Twister's ride experience wasn't documented well, so thus I don't remember the ride enough to include.
    - Wacky Worms and Wisdom Little Dipper (3 coasters total): Do not remember the ride experience at all, so this position was forfeited.
    You may reply to this comment if you want the explanation for the coasters that I consider roughest per manufacturer from the collection I have, or if there are any questions. I just didn't want to include the reasons in the initial post due to the long length that each explanation included.

    I found El Toro very rough in 2018 and haven't ridden it since. Only ridden Coaster Express and I found the front to be forceless and the back to be about as bad as HellCat's first half in 2018-but its second half was smooth and had good forces. I rode a traveling Toboggan, and it was just okay besides hitting my head. Firebird might be the worst B&M, but its the best B&M in Maryland-you don't have to ride it to know that

    I traveled from Germany (my home country) to the UK about two weeks ago for the first time to ride coasters. I went to Drayton Manor, Alton Towers and Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
    If you would have included Designers as well, for Charles Paige the Grand National at BPB would've been an obvious choice I assume.
    I rode the left side (when entering the queue I queued in the left line) in the very last row (next to a ride engineer) while riding their other woodies in the second to last row (except for Blue Flyer which I rode twice and I tried it in the last row).
    It's the first woodie I would call brutal, especially the valley after the double down. At one point it felt like there was a jump downwards in the track and the train just dropped down. I still rode the right side right after that experience, but I went back to the second to last row.
    But, I don't have many credits yet, for the longest time my only wooden credit was Colossos at Heide Park ( I got those other BPB woodies and Wicker Man at Alton during the same trip). So I didn't experience RCCA's Bandit at Movie Park yet.

    From a European enthusiast:
    For a rough Mack coaster you probably will have to go to Europa-Park to go on Euro-Mir, the spinning cars make this even worse as you cannot see where you are going when you are backwards on top of the overall roughness in the big drops. Maybe Poseidon in EP as well, fortunately the rollercoaster section is not too long because that coaster likes to bruise your knees like no other.
    Probably one of the roughest coasters I’ve ever done (maybe even rougher than Bandit) are both Stampida tracks from CCI at PortAventura, might be one of the worst coasters out there…
    Like you already mentioned, Bandit is crazy rough and uncomfortable… not a fun ride. However, I rode Coaster Express for the first time last week and it was… comically bad? It wasn’t painful or uncomfortable, it bounces like crazy which was kinda funny to us.
    Dragon Khan, B&M, once again at PortAventura was hit or miss for me. First time riding it I absolutely hated it, swearing I wouldn’t do it again because the head banging was absolutely insane. But there we are one day later and I wanted to give it a second chance and thank god we did as it was a great ride and the forces it pulls were insane, knowing how to sit in that rollercoaster is a must though.
    For me Gerstlauer’s roughest has to be Typhoon in Bobbejaanland, an old Euro-Fighter. Absolutely loved this thing as a kid, but I’ve absolutely stayed away from this thing in my last 5/6 visits. This thing is insanely rough and encourages a lot of headbanging… not enjoyable.
    Personally I thought Goudurix was quite enjoyable! It has a rattle but I was actually surprised that I was able to enjoy my ride!
    For roughest GCI my (controversial) pick goes to Troy in Toverland. Even though this coaster has a great layout and has given me some great rides, more often than not it gave me a bad headache due to the insane rattle..
    Lastly, Roughest Intamin has to go to either Furious Baco at PortAventura or Indiana Jones at Disneyland Paris. Furious Baco has in its favor that it’s a very short ride, but that rattle is insane. Indiana Jones is once again hit or miss, like at Windjammer Surf Racers it has bulky restraints and you absolutely cannot see what’s happening in front of you. Put that in the mixer with jerky transitions and handbanging and yeah… you have a rough Intamin.

    The Riddler ride at Six Flags Over Georgia used to be rusty red and it was named the Mind Bender. It was fairly rough the first couple of times I rode it. First time, I mostly blame myself. It was the first upside down coaster I ever rode, and I was a little chicken shit, so I leaned forward and ducked my head in the loops, which totally jams your head/neck. I was limber enough as a kid to not get hurt, but man it didn't feel good. It was also a very creaky sounding ride, but maybe that was intentional? Now, I miss that old look. It´s really shocking how terrible that ride is.

    The roughest coaster I went on ended up having a name change...along the lines of Top Thrill 2 (Twister 2 -> Twister 3 at Elitch's). Though, it's more of a change like Space Mountain in Disneyland (Retracking with a new audio video package) instead of a change like TT2 (which went to a Strata swing launch coaster). So I find the number increase for Twister 3 a bit weird (though not as weird as putting so much money into a coaster while you're shopping around for land, but what do I know?). It's still funny that the year after your visit to elitch's the land ended up being sold right out from under the park's nose, but it's still a rougher situation than Windjammer's

    I agree with a lot of your video, but here are some coasters I would offer up based on my experiences:
    PTC- Wildcat at Lake Compounce- Easily the roughest coaster I've been on.
    Intmain- Green Lantern at SFMM- Way worse than Z Force (Sorry I rode Z Force as a kid at Great America and it was so much better than Green Lantern
    GCI- While Roar is bad, I found the old Wildcat at Hershey slightly worse, but both are bad, rough coasters.
    CCI- Pegasus has to be considered. Maybe worse than rough but that last transition is the worst on any CCI by far.
    Mack- Lost Gravity was a really good ride but it was not an easy coaster to marathon. I think the Big Dipper model may lean to be the roughest Macks.
    Dinn- I think the retrack really improved Wolverine Wildcat and I actually think Timber Wolf is fine.
    You really hit the nail on the head with Firebird for B&M and T3 with Vekoma, but I will say Condor at Walibi Holland gives T3 a run for it's money.

    Agree with the mention about Timberwolf getting rougher each year since it is my home park. It very much needs rmc’d and I think it’s more likely now with the cf and six flags merge

    This year Roar is doing better, not smooth but consistent. Firebird makes a lot of head contact but most of it's only a tap, I've come to oddly like it. My roughest ride in 2022 was in the back of Alpengeist.
    Intamin: Kingda Ka. Love it too much, my last Kacussion made any ride hurt for 3 weeks.

      hahaha Kacussion. I remember it being shaky on the launch but not too bad. It's been 4 years tho

      Roar and Firebird both screwed me up hard back in July, so I'm not in any position to defend them lol

    Honestly, Outlaw run was nice and smooth minus one pothole yesterday. Maybe it's just smoother wet and cold? No idea haha. Still loved it. When it got dark it was rough just because I didn't know where we were going

    Verbolten is the roughest Zierer I've ridden, rattling badly during the outside section, though that is also due to the other larger-scale Zierer installations I've ridden (Jaguar at Knott's, Pepsi Orange Streak at Mall of America, and Impulse at Knoebels) being very smooth. In particular, Impulse may be their take on the Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter, but it makes the real Euro-Fighters I've ridden (SpongeBob at Mall of America and Dare Devil Dive at Six Flags Over Georgia) feel like janky Arrow loopers in comparison.

    omg I remember when Firebird was Iron Wolf @ SF Great America, hilarious that even after converting to floorless coaster it’s still giving people headaches 😂

    Timber Wolf didn't bother me too much this last summer. Only part that got me was the weird bit before the final brakes. And Mamba wasn't too bad in the back row. Wild Thing at Valleyfair last summer jerked me around from side to side in the last row. Also Nopuko Air Coaster destroyed me on its first inversion, I spent the whole ride screaming "Bad Idea!! Bad Idea!! Such a Bad idea!!"

    My pick for roughest B&M is Vortex at CGA (they've improved it as Patriot, though it's still not great). Granted, that's basically the same ride as Iron Wolf, given that it's the second B&M.

    B&M has a rough ride at sea world Orlando. My son got his head hit against the shoulder restraints on the final inversion on Kraken (it didn’t do damage thankfully).

    Mind Eraser and Twister III Storm Chaser at Elitch Gardens need to be considered for your list. Mind Eraser is another Vekoma SLC, Twister III is a woody by Hensel Phelps Construction. They will both have you taking a break after riding them.

    as rough as blue streak felt this year, I got to ride it twice back to back at the end of a night and honestly I think the drop was hitting harder than I remembered. Definitely kept that lap bar a bit loose xD

    The roughest rmcs are like the smoothest arrows, and probably smoother!
