It's crazy as you can get a second hand one for around 17k. How did you manage to get it for a week. I'm trying to arrange 48h test drive without any luck 😭
I’ve owned my first EV the MG ZS EV since 1st Mar 20 and it is a great value car. The range for me is great and costs next to nothing to run the ZS EV vs my old diesel. There is a facelift MKII ZS EV due out later this year with a 71kWh battery / 250miles plus so I may give my wife my ZS and look to purchas the facelift at the end of the year for greater range.
It is a lovely car I have one, just for last couple of months and have got up to 5.1 mpkh when had a nice day and quiet often in the 4's with warmer weather 😀
The charge port door isn’t very helpful. Whilst you can get into the car easily you’ll find that plugging in the charge cable not as easy as it’s impossible to see without getting on your knees. :)
I own one and there are no real problems with the charging port, I just got used to it in no time. Of course MG did learn from comments and the MG5 has a cover that opens to the side. Front charging is definately easier though.
@@johng5474 I came across a new owner at a charger up the M1. He had plugged into the 43kw ac type 2 cable and was pulling an impressive 3.3kw! I let him know which charging cable would be better and then we moved to Rugby to try the new chargers out.
@@johng5474 They didn’t seem to know the difference. Maybe the dealers should take some time to explain the difference between different charger handles. Maybe a cheat sheet. Oh, wait, the dealers barely understand electricity. 🤦♂️
I just don’t justify spending anything over 50k (Polestar) for something that has no proper charging network to go in long drives. Sticking with petrol until the rapid charging networks increase. For inner London. This would be perfect.
I call it a compact SUV because that is exactly what it is branded as. Quoted from the MG website: 'New MG ZS is the evolution of our compact SUV featuring a unique new exterior and loaded with technology'
@@ShortCircuitPS2 Drove one and the suspension is absolute rubbish. Average build quality and cheap interior and materials used and very thin steel body. AU$45,000 and not impressed at all.
I don't see the value of not using cow skin when they are already being killed for their meat. Real leather is massively harder wearing than plastic fake leather and can be re-finished etc and does not release VOC's into your breathing air.
@@MrStevegibb The value is in that there is obviously a large enough market base of people who make their purchasing decisions based on the ethics of manufacturers and “vegan leather” is one such product that manufacturers feel has value to offer for their brand. That and “vegan leather” is probably just cheaper to produce/purchase than leather because leather has to go through expensive processes to produce.
No matter what you say, it is not a British any more it is CHINESE. So it is Junk. TATA's or Toyota will be much better. Had Toyotas hydrogenated power car for a week good experience.
Great review - I've had one of these for 10months and your review mirrors my experience

What did you think ride comfort was like, especially on poor road surfaces?

That's great, yes very efficient and also really nice to drive!
Best place for the charging socket?
Front or side 🤔
Front, you can just drive upto the charger
A drive to Norfolk would let you know if 150 miles was enough. Nice colour.
Great that you got a press car, well done
Nice review, By-the-way everything is more efficient compared to the Polestar.

@@SirHackaL0t. Yes it does seem that we need a system explaining the difference, maybe colour coding?

Never been on my knees with mine. Just reach down and under and it done.

Then get a tesla you can use the superchargers and the existing rapid chargers and you have about 300mile range.
I have one and drive everywhere with it and charge when I need. Fine for long journeys now that there are many more chargers than before.
If I was doing 100+ miles daily in the UK traffic i'd move or change jobs.
I don’t no why you call it a compact suv , the Peugeot 2008 is compact suv.

2008 is more of a mid size suv I think. Zs ev is kind of in between a small and mid suv! Lots of room inside but not too long on the drive.

Lots of problems no standard tinted glass so you cook in warm weather or burn your self on the fake leather then the dodgy range if bms is faulty
@William Dryden if you have burnt or sensitive skin and want the interior not to fade or crack i think uv tint is quite high up there
I had windows tinted and makes a huge difference for not much money. 👍🏻
In the Sahara desert, maybe. In the UK, dream on.

Don't say "fake leather" or "vinyl". It's "VEGAN leather"!
Plastic!

So don’t kill the cows. I think they prefer it and would also vote for artificial leather.

Even when Toyota started people were making noise about Japanese junk... Time will tell
