Good to see stuff like this. Most TH-camrs running "realistic" groups barely scratch the surface when it comes to emulating real world tactics. Modern tactics have taken a huge turn and there are way too many arm chair operators that don't care to hear your input.

Escape from tarkov has made it abundantly clear to me that no matter how set up my rifle is, how careful I am with my movement, and what armor I have, I will catch a round to the face and become a lot drop. Doesn't help that I'm like a drunk baby deer with PC controls and lose any semblance of agility when I'm ambushed.

FPS were made for mouse and keyboard tho, thumb sticks are just about the worst control mechanism possible for shooters. That's why so many console FPS have to add in aim assist. I see guys on CoD all the time who get their ankles broken by my movement because they lean so hard on the aim assist and it didn't pick me up in the moment.

I was just telling my buddy the other day that he needs to get a PC so we can play some Ready or Not and train online in a more dynamic environment. So great timing on this video. I've never smashed my equipment like that but the feelings have been there from time to time. It's the worst when I know I did something dumb and played poorly, especially in DMZ where you get punished by having 1/3rd the health as everyone else and have a few hours long cooldowns on your custom weapons when you die.

this is NO where close to what you learn if you were to do it in person. you will NOT absorb the info that you need to if you were to "train" with video games that you would irl.

Spent 15 years in the Marine Corps (E-7) and was in real life Fallujah. I played the game Six Days in Fallujah and it was incredible, almost too realistic. This random German guy and I were the only guys left and he asked me if I had Ready or Not, which I did. He had hundreds of hours in and I had less than one. The movement is ultra realistic and I was blown away. We spent about five hours playing till we realized we both had to get some sleep for work, but in that five hours we got to a point we're we communicating non-verbally just as must if not more than verbally.
Visualization definitely helps and there have guys countless battalions that sabotaged themselves through fear.

Hi from France, it's a great video. 🇫🇷
I practice CQB by playing Airsoft and by playing FPS simulations like Ready or Not. Ready or Not players gave me tactical advices that I use now in Airsoft. It's an eternal learning and transfer of knowledge through different platforms of experience. I also used some VR simulations to understand how some weapons work, how to reload them, how the firing modes work (which can be very different from a weapon to an other).

I think this is a wonderful training aid. After you understand the layout of a map, the advantage of knowing the area can be really strong and it can also become an unrealistic advantage. If SHTF you may find yourself in areas with little to no knowledge of the layout. In these cases, training for the unknown is very helpful and I would highly recommend playing something like Six Days In Fallujah which has randomly generated villages.

If you're trying to shine at stair spindles or some sport of fence, the light bouncing back and hitting you will far outweigh the light going through and you won't be able to see though at all unless you push your light right into a crack of the barrier. Scanning at waist height is really good for keeping up situational awareness as well as pelvic shots with rifles generally incapacitates rather than outright killing.
Also, playing this game with random matchmaking can be very fun. Sometimes you will get guys who are efficient, other times you gets guys who are just a good laugh to watch them get f’d. Nothing is more rewarding than teaching someone things in a game like this and seeing them get better and better. It can't teach things like sweeping under vehicles or fighting from elevated positions (stairwell, second floors, etc), and I'm not sure about teaching penetration (I haven't played in a while). But as far as dispersal, breaching, pieing corners, running rabbits, pushing threats, blah blah blah yeah it can teach maneuvers like that. I've found success in teaching my nephews the basics through that game. They picked it up pretty fast for never having handled guns. Took them to an airsoft arena? They crushed it, first time out. Never been prouder than seeing my oldest nephew dome a dude with a controlled pair.

I think about this sort of thinking all the time, if you keep it in the mental frame of :
    - Where the similarities of how you percieve the physical space in real life vs the generated space, and how now most developers use photogrammetry or highly rendered assets to build a map that is so similar to real life (at least visually) because of the evolving technology and competition between video games companies can sort of START to bridge the gap between the physical world and computer generated...
    - Where the kinesthetics of movement (not any no scope 360's bullshits, as you mentioned) are either very close to real life so as to mimic weapon sway, perceived movement through propioception...again through probably market competition... Have those same game mechanics and physics engines try to match the physical world..
    - Where wow look again, competitive markets try to reach more gamers, who by now after waging war for almost 20 years in the American market at least are looking for something enjoyable or more akin to their interests have tactical shooters that try to fulfill that not so niche role anymore
It does fall to the younger generation to use their neuroplasticity and tools READILY available to them to implement more diverse and a wider pallete of training methods and philosophies. I'm saying this because back then computer simulated training was scoffed upon because well it wasn't really realistic, so for it being kind of unfeasible the older generation who were generally in charge of the funding for these training projects didn't really see the use of computer generated training.
Older folks GENERALLY have a tough time adapting new methods, im not saying they're incapable, it's just a generally accepted norm of life that once you're older and secure, thinking in a new way isn't something usually seen to be readily accepted. That's sort of supported by biology with the concept of neuroplasticity and age.
I'm sure the first dude who thought : dude we could just use laser tag to train motherfuckers right?
Was looked at like this guy is the king of useless ideas, he doesn't get that video games aren't real life.
Then some MF was like fuck it, strap these mf's with some Alice gear and have them train in Mount Town cause it's GWOT time. How do I know?
I trained with that shit at like 19 years old.
It was cumbersome and malfunctioned alot but when it did work it was pretty dope.
Plus, imagine how future generations are going to improve and refine training methodologies and/or gear used to train.
Tools are was useful as you make them, and as how creative you can get with using the tool.
Sure it's not going to be the end all be all, but using it to supplement training or find creative ways to STILL implement training when faced with traditional hurdles encountered by previous methods can make a tool much more useful than it was disdainfully projected to be.

You should check out the tactical VR game: Onward
It’s the most realistic training you can get in a video game

Ready or Not still has problems especially AI and visibility and performance but can be mitigated with mods

If you mod your game you have so many more possibilities! For exemple there's a mod that allows you to have a working laser+flashlight combo, mods that let you use 9-bangers, mods that change the AIs and lots of other interesting things/options...

To be honest, AI mods mostly decrease ability of enemies to fight you effectively, which for training purposes is a big no.

@@viktorvlasov483 just get the right one or make your own it's not THAT complicated and will definitely be better than having automated x-ray vision turrets with 100% accuracy as your ennemies

Or conversely...The real deal gets you ready to play games like ready or not. Some dudes I served with and I are low key crushing it on this game.
Real talk though this game genuinely has good training value. It lets you come up to solutions for some pretty complex floor plans.

RoN is a fantastic SWAT sim imo. This is not an arcade shooter at all. Think ARMA but for SWAT/CQB. Very challenging, very punishing. Agree it's probably a good place to work on communications and CQB theory with guys. The game has an official Discord server if you want to find a squad to roll with. ArmA 3 is old and controls are more clunky but is a similar game in a military setting that you can work on the theory in a giant wide open 10km x 10km kind of map.

Love ready or not for exactly this reason. Unfortunately I don’t have a squad with PCs and randoms often run and gun. Would love to join a dirty civ discord so I can play with folks who have the same goals

Ready or Not with my homies helps us with comms and getting SOPs for how we operate with each other. We didn't learn a lot of skills, but we know how our brains work now. Working on getting airsoft for us to try it in realspace
