Raising one's voice and acting aggressive until they get their way is unfortunately a common trait among older Western expats. They know SEA service workers will always eventually acquiesce and be penalized by their manager for not enforcing the rule rather than ever consider telling an unruly passenger to be quiet, much less physically restrain them the way American staff would 😭
I flew Vietnam Airlines earlier this year on three domestic flights in business class. On the A321 and the A350. The experience was flawless. I was so impressed with the standard of the aircraft, the crew and the food, especially on a domestic service. As a European used to standard Eurobiz style products, I was very jealous of the much higher standards. It was particularly amusing to me to see an A321 “fully loaded” with interior options. As a regular Air France / KLM flyer, the Flying Blue XP and miles were an added bonus.
I flew from Osaka back to Singapore on Vietnam Airlines in economy (stopover in Ho Chi Minh) and was pleasantly surprised by their hospitality and excellent service. While the product may not be as up to date as other airlines, their professionalism more than makes up for it. It was such a pleasant flight. Would definitely fly them again. I've tried the budget Vietjet too and the service was excellent.
Great video Dan! As an Australian in Australia they are popular and well known as they offer such great fares especially in economy and premium to Vietnam and Europe, also Vietnam is a popular destination for Australians and it is the only full service carrier flying between Australia and Vietnam so a lot of Australians fly them. Personally I would put them below Singapore and Cathay but on par with Thai, Garuda or Malaysian and above Philippine airlines. They have great service and good food long haul and even serve hot towels in economy to Australia! Also their livery is definitely the best
As a Vietnamese I jumped into the video right after recognizing what's in the thumbnail. By the way, the airport is named Noi Bai Airport, not Hanoi Airport, but it's not like there's any other commercial airports in Hanoi anyways 😂 Seeing my home airport from abroad brings back so many memories. Glad you tried Vietnam Airlines out, and as someone who has tried their HAN - FRA flight on Economy, I can't wait to see your opinion on their longer flights.
Well Simply Aviation has already given HVN flying praises in their Brutally Honest review on the HAN-SYD route. For what is worth, it's one of the best airlines in Asia. Sure, there's no candlelight dinner like on THY, but their Economy is superb versus even high-end carriers from the Middle East. Being a state-owned flag carrier of a majority middle-low-income country, Vietnam Airlines' strategy of skimping the extravagance in luxury cabins and instead pampering economy passengers a little bit more is spot on.
I’m flying Vietnam Airlines from San Francisco to HCMC, non-stop, in February. My first time in VA and first time in Vietnam! On the return flight I am flying premium economy. On the flight to HCMC I am currently seated in economy but HOPING to be able to upgrade to Sky Sofa. We will see!
People like that yelling for a free upgrade should be placed on the airline's no-fly list. Another deterrent is to arrange police on arrival to give the passenger a warning or simply offload the passenger. They should not be receiving a seat they have not paid for. And getting a seat that way is not fair for the passengers in business class who have paid for their seats.
You’re absolutely correct. That French guy already knew Asian cultures well and totally took advantage of it. He has probably already gotten away so many times before. What ashamed! Some people have that kind of mentality. Must be a cultural thing….. being French …. Some can be incredibly and obnoxiously rude.
Is that why a French lady cut my queue for the security check in Singapore on my way to Paris? I'm glad i.behaved atypically and told her to get to the back of the very obvious queue. Happened to me again on the way back from Paris! And I was wondering why I kept meeting such things on this. On the way back, cos I was in a foreign place I didn't tell em off but they sure as heck didn't manage to get in front of me.
DANN! u should try Vietnam Airlines on the a350 or the 787, they are so much better than the smaller a 321 as the seat and the plane are technically has been unchanged since forever.
Vietnam airlines is mostly overlooked by reviewers but the quality of services onboard is refined and sumptuous especially when it comes to business class services.
They even give us the direct way from Vietnam to San Francisco, no transit. Speaking of how good is it: most of my Vietnam Americans family members just go on Business class of Vietnam Airlines
I flew Vietnam Airlines business class last year from CDG to HAN. It was a great flight, just a struggle to pick my seats. I booked with Air France and AF said to contact Vietnam and Vietnam said contact AF.
I flew them 6+ hrs from Tokyo to Da Nang in Economy and was very impressed. I did a weekend from Hanoi to HK but chose the cheaper option of HK Express since it was a really short flight.
Hi Dan I actually flown a few times on their business class and recently from sin to Han and then back to HCM and then sin...on both their a321 neo and even their 787! Yes they may not be five stars they claim only four stars but I must say they are value for money for their business class ...and their service is awesome ...and yes despite the fact that I am from Singapore and we have SQ yet I must say it's awesome ...❤
Here's the thing, I already was tempted to try Vietnam air because of some EXTREMELY handsome Air Hosts, good to know their service is not too bad as well. I'm interested.😮
I have been watching your videos since 2016 and I’m so happy to see one about the national airline of my home country 😂 Here are some of my thoughts: 1. Quiet lounge: the lounges in the international terminal are often quiet due to the fact that most international flights (VNA) from HN depart during the evening. Also, domestic lounges are the complete opposite due to very high passenger movements (HAN-HCMC route is among top 5 busiest in the world), accompanied by the fact that families often bring their children along into the lounge in this occasion. 2. VNA’s response to the rude passenger: I think the response was a gesture of good hospitality and crew friendliness. However in this case I would be extremely annoyed if I was in your position. 3. VNA’s quality and reputation in Asia: I agree that we are one step behind neighbours like Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, and Cathay Pacific despite being a decent carrier. One of the most significant factor is the limited number of international destinations served by VNA compared to others. Having two large cities (which led to two major hub airports, while airlines like TG, SQ, CX can focus on their primary hub airports) mean that VNA need to acquire more aircrafts than the current fleet to serve high-demand, but unserved destinations, such as Prague, Milan, Amsterdam, or Los Angeles. While it is a challenging task for VNA, I believe they can solve that in the future. 4. Lack of IFE screens on the A321s: yeah it is a huge inconvenience, every time I book a HAN-SGN flight that was initially planned for a 787 or A350, I was so annoyed when it was changed to an A321 last-minute 😂😂😂
that's so wrong of that French passenger. honestly yelling at the crew because of his selfishness is very sad and unacceptable. honestly, if I was a crew I would have treated him as an unruly passenger. By yelling and be demanding doesn't work all the time.
Actually cabin crews want to do it, but then they have to meet manager/officer and spend 2 to 3 times to report, very complex, and obviously, that flight will be delayed. So the better option is saying ok with unruly passenger reluctantly.
I learned today that because I'm disabled I get to yell at the Vietnamese airline staff and get a free upgrade NOT that dude just a jerk and I hope he reads this. Poor you
White paint is cheaper to use. It's about cost savings. Plus white does not absorb as much sunlight as other colours; the darker the colour, the more absorption of heat from the sun.
I would say that French guy was very strategic in his complaints as he started it while you were about to taxi and the door is closed already. Of course the crew doesn’t want a delayed flight that’s why they gave in. That guy is so entitled. Even if he is an amputee, he should’ve bought the business class seats if he wants a bigger seat. I would say he was a winner in this instance but do that in an American carrier and good luck!
I had a bad experience with vietnam airlines in April. I could not choose a seat online and called them maybe 15 times for 3 days and never could get an agent. I also even went to the airport and no one helped me there because the flight was more than 24 hours away. Eventually i check in and get a middle seat because its all they had left. There Wifi didnt work the whole trip, the food was bad and the service was not great. This was a flight from SGN-ICN
Due to their restructuring, they could no longer fly the Ho Chi Minh City to Hong Kong Route (VN 594/595) since they we're recently bailed out by the state.
Vietnam Airlines is not the best but very decent for its money. The thing is that you can often find domestic business class for 100$ and an international short flight for 200-300$.
Interesting TH-cam Dan. If you want to fly this airline long haul you could fly Australia-Europe or vv. Vietnam Air is a discount airline on the kangaroo route.
Vietnam airlines has a good modern long haul fleet consisting only of a350s and 787s. However, they really need to refurbish their narrow body a321s or order some newer gen regional planes, such as the 737 max. Because Vna even sends their a321s to places like Japan and India which is kind of far from Vietnam reaching up to 5 hours, so their current a321s are not really good enough for a flight of that length. They should have a better looking interior and personal ife screens. I don’t know why they haven’t done this already since they are operating in a very competitive market with many high quality airlines, and considering the fact that they’re not facing any financial difficulties this should be a priority if they want to step up their game and be a competitor.
It is terribly unfortunate that some people feel entitled regardless of their physical condition. They should sit in the seat they paid for. If they wanted a better seat, there are options to pay for one.
Man, reminds me of this indian guy when i was flying air canada where he went to the wrong line and was yelling how hes tsa precheck In this situation, the guy, while being a bitter jerk about it (theres like 3-4 people in total lining up to go through security in toronto here, btw) when all he had to do was put his laptop in a box and take his shoes off ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Dude even did a whole "ive been traveling for a long time, i know what im doing", just, man, the entitlement and lack of awareness/self-respect to just, go with it
Huh. When you said someone got a free upgrade I thought Vietnam Airlines overbooked and had to compensate him for a blank seat in business class. Didn't expect that story. What a douche.
You want to see Rude Obnoxious passengers, take a flight from the GCC countries to anywhere in Pakistan. Horror stories regarding passenger behaviours are a dime a dozen.
I am from Malaysia and more often than not, we see this situation where "white people" demand extra "services" or make disparaging comments about local cultures. Sometimes they make comparisons to their "advanced" countries, things that are legal/illegal (like riding mopeds, and eating by hand). But sometimes, the locals themselves made things worse by over-treating or giving special treatment to "white people". For example, there was news about a guy giving free passes to white tourists to get up on the viewing floor on KLCC and locals who made to pay had to wait in a queue. Oh yes, Malaysia Airlines did the same too, and upgraded white passengers to business class for free without them asking (I experienced this twice in Penang), the Malaysians still feel that need to give special treatment to white people. Also quite recently, a white vlogger visited Melaka and he was surprised that no one greeted him non-stop unlike when he was in Phuket. To relate to this channel, I flew on Turkish Airlines from Copenhagen to Istanbul, moons ago. During a serving, I asked for a chicken meal (only two were offered, fish or chicken, from the menu card). The Turkish attendant waved that there were no more chicken meals left. But as he pushed the cart further frontward, I heard a white family being asked politely about their choices as he squatted next to them. You may say that I'm making a racist comment here, but after enduring 14 years in Europe, I've experienced so many things.
And unlike the ME3 where the FAs tend to be foreigners, most TK FAs are local Turks and Turkey is 99% Muslim though observance varies. They should have treated a fellow brother Muslim friendlier than the Arabs since their pres is an Islamist.
If it was a US airline, 100% he would have gotten kicked off I flew a short haul domestic business class with VN and loved it. For the amount I paid, which was only 50 USD extra for a 2 hour~ flight, no brainer
And yet, Garuda Indonesia is not mentioned again and I'm not surprised. They really need to step up their game and stop embarrassing us Indonesians hahahaha
Their international presence is just too miniscule to be noticed by most reviewers considering their post-Covid downsizing. Even pre-Covid, regionally their network outside Indonesia is very small when compared to regional rivals like SQ, MH and TG. It seems that most Indo carriers in general leave the international market to foreign carriers will they prioritize the domestic market.
@@akifiskandar4186 The pre-covid quantum leap kind of give a sense of hope by the airline with the re-introduction of AMS and LHR as well as new fleets, however eventually it turned out to be impulsive and thoughtless with many mismanagement. And yes, currently Garuda leave the competition for international market and decided to focus domestically but even then it can be too expensive and for some destinations the LCCs are the smarter choice to fly within Indonesia. GA is really fading and it's very sad 😥
As a flightattendant he was taking the seat that he purchased or we were going to let him off to make first class arrangements on another flight! That is not fair to the people who paid to enjoyed the amenitiy and if any of you complained; I’m here for it! I despise game players! If it meant him going then ok sit there but you are it getting first class service and I hope they did not offer it to him nor did he expect it! God I despise these game players
Philippine Airlines mentioned and it got me curious What are your opinions on its price to service/product? I've been seeing a lot of mixed reviews about it and some people even saying that the low cost carrier Cebu Pacific is better than the flagship airline
When you pay economy, you get economy. The airline staff should have called airport security to get him off the plane. And if it had happened mid-flight, they should have notified Hong Kong airport security. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour by the passenger. Probably the kind of person who received a hall pass his entire life without anyone calling him out.

SIA or Cathay would’ve probably told him to get the f*** off the plane and never come back. And he probably booked Vietnam because he knew that. 😂
Prior experience or just being banned outright from those airlines :)

They know SEA service workers will always eventually acquiesce and be penalized by their manager for not enforcing the rule rather than ever consider telling an unruly passenger to be quiet, much less physically restrain them the way American staff would 😭

Try this crap on American, Delta, or United! I bet they have you arrested and removed from the plane.
Surely an amputee would need *less* legroom?

I would have gotten up to go to the bathroom 3x in the 90 minute flight just to disturb him.
Dan, was he given Business meal, treated like he belongs there? Or simply allowed to sit in that larger seat?
The airline should have billed Loudmouth for the upgrade.
Do a video on Bamboo Airlines and Starlux Airlines.
Bamboo is essentially bankrupt and has decreased their flights with 90%
As a flightattendant he was taking the seat that he purchased or we were going to let him off to make first class arrangements on another flight! That is not fair to the people who paid to enjoyed the amenitiy and if any of you complained; I’m here for it! I despise game players! If it meant him going then ok sit there but you are it getting first class service and I hope they did not offer it to him nor did he expect it! God I despise these game players
Fly in and out of hcmc airport a few times, business or economy and you will find out what Vietnam airlines is like and it ain't good.
Oh great - you took a road trip in Vietnam.... awesome. Which drivers license do you hold?
Philippine Airlines mentioned and it got me curious
What are your opinions on its price to service/product?
I've been seeing a lot of mixed reviews about it and some people even saying that the low cost carrier Cebu Pacific is better than the flagship airline
Should have been made to deplane.
Hi, can you do a flight review of lot polish airlines?
“I need to sit there.”
Bro just book business next time, not that hard. Instead of clicking that row, just click- one row above.
Nice video
Hello i am from Vietnam hanoi I loved your video content keep going your career❤❤❤❤❤❤🩵💙❤️
Vietnam Airlines doesn't have the screen because the aircraft that you fly on is really old
Tôi từng bay 2 chuyến hà nội đi Hồng Kong bằng caythay trên A330 và 2 lần đó đồ ăn trên máy bay đều sống và họ đền bù cho tôi bằng 1 hộp mỳ tôm=))
You forgot about Garuda Indonesia 0:15 :(
I would NOT have let him moved or made him pay.
I haven’t went there since 2022
Music was way too LOUD for this video. Please go back to your normal setting.
A Frenchman behaving rudely? No way, I don't believe it!!
Economy is not economy at all it’s overpriced with shitty seats
@@desertmoonlee6631premium economy should be the new economy
As a gate agent they should have had a gate agent come remove him lol
