I flew on Northwest's 747 from Narita to SFO back in 1990. It was my first ever 747 experience and as a young Av geek, I was absolutely gob smacked. I'll never forget that flight, I loved every second of it. I too love deplaning by stairs, it gives such a unique perspective on the airplane and the airport itself.
Have you thought about trying out Porter Airlines? They somewhat recently launched a route to San Diego, which could be worth checking out. What’s particularly interesting is their use of the Embraer E195 aircraft on this route-a unique choice that offers a different flying experience compared to the usual Boeing or Airbus options.
Vietnam is definitely on my bucket list and it has been for many years. I just wish I could get my husband to go. That being said, I just got off a flight yesterday from Cabo to LAX in First on American Airlines and I couldn’t believe it, but the food was unbelievably amazing. Glad you got good food, but that was to be expected on VA, not AA!❤️✈️
Yeah, there’s a lot not to like about American Airlines, but I actually find their first class food to be pretty good most of the time. Anyway, yes - you have to go to Vietnam! This was my first visit, but I hope that it won’t be my last. I really liked it.
I just did the sas 15 airline challenge. Flew on 19 airlines in economy (except air india) Vietnam air was a standout in that I was pleasantly surprised. 2 very short flights on them, but 12/10 would do again
I recently booked on Vietnam business with 90k delta sky pesos from Australia to Europe. Was worried it might be kind of mid. Glad you liked it though.
You can take pretty much everything except the headphones. Although I’m sure they frown upon the idea of people walking off with the blankets and pillows.
You could have gone into the Korean air lounge too since vietnam airlines is a skyteam member in fact the lounge is next to gate 26 one away from the gate this bird was parked at.
Hey Scott! can you make me a Boeing 2707 blank template please? it's like an american concorde. I want you to make the 7207-200, the one with sweep wings.
Hi scott I am back Thank you and i liked it Meal well nothing for me. I dont like asian food. On this flight only champagne fruit and something sweet..for me Do you know that klm is coming to san diego? In march 25 air france will introduce their outstanding new first class cabin. The worlds best. Now my husband and little clausi are among the happy few who might experience it free of charge. We could never afford this. Keep fingers crossed and maybe one of my last flights. I am 67 now. Scott still remember the t.w.a. b-767 daily service san diego into john f kennedy off topic i know. But this is it when you are getting old. With my best wishes always claus. You are fantastic
Welcome back Claus! Glad you enjoyed the video. And yes, I’m really excited about KLM coming to San Diego. I haven’t even looked at prices yet, but I’m sure it’s going to be very expensive. I’m definitely gonna try it this summer though - using points of course. The new Air France seats look good too!
The catering service of Vietnam Airlines has been a lot better. I have never seen Japanese menu before; and it was served the right way. I flew VN301 in July 2024 and it was a completely full flight on a B787-10. Tourist to Japan from Vietnam often fly to Tokyo and fly back from other cities, most common is KIX and NGO. There are tourist arrive at KIX or NGO and fly back from NRT too, but it less common; and that's what I did. However, it's sad to know that the NRT-SGN route is usually empty...
Hey Scott. Hope all is well and fantastic trip report. I'd suggest flying with the following airline: Japan Airlines: Tokyo (HND) - New York (JFK) Flight Number: JL 4 Seat: 58A Aircraft Type: Airbus A350-1000 I'd suggest flying on Japan Airlines' brand-new A350-1000 on a flight between Tokyo and New York JFK. Since they fly twice a day between Tokyo and New York, I'd suggest picking the evening flight (JL 4) since not too many people on TH-cam reviewed that flight, especially on the A350-1000. Also, reserve a seat in advance (upon booking) in Seat 58A on the A350-1000 to ensure that you don't end up in a middle seat where your footage may not be so great. Hope to see this on TH-cam in the future, if you ever pursue this flight.
Not to use your creativity or anything, but can you please make some digital arts on never built aircraft? Like the Boeing 747-500X, the 746-600X, the 747-700X, the Boeing 747X, the 747X Stretch, the Airbus A380-900, And also, please make some livery history arts revolving around, say America West Airlines, a NWA A350 in the 2003 livery, the list goes on.
I didn’t even know until about a year or two ago. Imagine the shock of being in an airplane crash and having it blowup in your face when you’re not expecting it. 😬😬😄
Always enjoy your commentary... reminding me of my world hopping so many years ago. My entire life revolved around Northwest Airlines... their program and where they flew... Yes! Take me there! Sharing one of their most fabulous commercials... stirring within the desire to travel to far away places! th-cam.com/video/ELADCiuuQeA/w-d-xo.html
Thanks! I actually don’t even remember seeing that many commercials for Northwest Airlines - which is surprising considering that I grew up just north of DTW.
I love Vietnam Airlines that enflight Pho is the best soup in the sky 🤤
I kind of regret not giving that a try. Next time.
Another incredible review, I seriously don’t think I can ever get enough of these videos! Hope you have a great new year 🎉🥂
Great video Scott! I really loved it! Hope to fly Vietnam 🇻🇳 Airlines someday!
Cheers 🥂

Thanks Caleb, I hope you get the chance!
Another great video! Even though I’m not there I still really like seeing all the unique meals that you get to enjoy on your flights!
Thanks! The meals are always the best part - it’s always something different!

Yeah, I miss those Northwest Airlines 747s to and from NRT. I always did it in economy class, but I still have fond memories.
Keep up the great work.. the 787 surely is one of the prettiest birds in the fleet Boeing has ever made..
Thanks, and I agree - it’s a beautiful airplane.
Hi Scott, I just wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas 🎄 and thanks for all the reviews and laughs this year.
Same to you! Merry Christmas!
🛫Absolute fab flight review there Scott, nicely made & presented video too!.👍
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it!

Yup! I’m going to be flying SAN-YYZ soon on Porter. Looking forward to it!
Great review as always, looking forward to flying them in September! Those leaves on the starter plate sure looked interesting...
Thanks! I think you’re really going to enjoy it - although I recommend not eating the leaf. 😄
Awesome video! I'd love to try them sometime.
0:49 What map is that it looks good
Love the Vietnam Airlines livery . Hoping to fly them out of Australia soon.
I highly recommend it. 👍🏻👍🏻
Fantastic trip report Scott!😸
Thanks Ryan!
Exiting on to the apron is always a plus. Especially if the weather is good.
Absolutely!
Thanks for the info + video!
You’re very welcome!
Hell yeah!! Will be watching this today!! 🔥
Hope you enjoy it!

That sounds fun! Makes me wonder which one was the worst. 😄
Thanks for the update
You’re very welcome Kevin!
I recently booked on Vietnam business with 90k delta sky pesos from Australia to Europe. Was worried it might be kind of mid. Glad you liked it though.
That’s a pretty good deal actually. Hope you enjoy it.
Amazing flight!
Thanks, it was a pretty good one!
Great video , thnx Scott
Thank you and you’re welcome!
So which would you prefer? Chicken and rice? Or Ell and rice?
Chicken AND eel and rice. 😄
I Like The Livery.Great Trip Reort
Me too - one of the best airline liveries in existence right now. Glad you enjoyed the video!
In 12 days im on the way from munich to sydney with them. On Business class ❤
Did u enjoy it???
can you take all of those things they give you, like sleepers and a bag with stuff for higiene ? or you have to leave it behind?
You can take pretty much everything except the headphones. Although I’m sure they frown upon the idea of people walking off with the blankets and pillows.
You could have gone into the Korean air lounge too since vietnam airlines is a skyteam member in fact the lounge is next to gate 26 one away from the gate this bird was parked at.
I had no idea there was a Korean air lounge at NRT! Noted for next time.
@@sanspotter Korean air has like 4-5 flights a day between NRT and ICN. One operated by their low cost subsidiary Jin air.
Hey Scott! can you make me a Boeing 2707 blank template please? it's like an american concorde. I want you to make the 7207-200, the one with sweep wings.
Hope you enjoy Saigon, lots of amazing, inexpensive food and drinks to further gorge yourself on ;-)
I enjoyed it quite a bit actually! Can’t wait to go back to Vietnam.
Yes. They drive on the correct side.
Hi scott

Surprising that KIX and NGO are the most common. I thought for sure it would’ve been Tokyo.
Hey Scott. Hope all is well and fantastic trip report. I'd suggest flying with the following airline:
Japan Airlines: Tokyo (HND) - New York (JFK)
Flight Number: JL 4
Seat: 58A
Aircraft Type: Airbus A350-1000
I'd suggest flying on Japan Airlines' brand-new A350-1000 on a flight between Tokyo and New York JFK. That’s a long way in an economy window seat! It would be fun though. Something to think about…
Man, that looks quite upscale. Especially because I only fly economy class!
The fact that I had pretty much the entire cabin to myself made it even more upscale than it actually was. 😄

How long was the arrival immigration line?😂
Let’s just say that it’s a good thing I wasn’t in a rush. 😄
I'd fly only just to be able to eat all that airplane food 😊
I discovered on this flight that it is possible to eat too much of it though. 😅
is it true that SGN airport known as their bribery? I'm considering flying to Vietnam: leaning to HAN or DAD instead of SGN.
I never knew those fat belts were airbags!
I didn’t even know until about a year or two ago. Imagine the shock of being in an airplane crash and having it blowup in your face when you’re not expecting it. 😬😬😄

UA 873 GUM-NRT 737-8
Seems so out of place at NRT
I agree, That’s why it sparked my curiosity
UA is expanding its routes out of Tokyo with its Guam based crews/aircraft. 2025 will add Taiwan and Mongolia out of HND.
Vietnam airline is great on foods and services, accept there is no wifi in-flight that is why i don't flight with Vietnam airline in long haul.
Good to know about the Wi-Fi. I didn’t even check, but I agree that it could be a deciding factor for a long flight.
Cubes of cheese
"breakfast as excellent" 💀
Bro you have know idea how much I love cheese. 😬
Lol the airline of my culture
Vietnam Airlines, masters at confusing trip reviewers about what the main course or dessert is.
They definitely confused me.
