I'll bet you that no broadcaster will mention Imus' brilliant satire from the 1970s and early1980s. All pre-Stern, pre-TV and pre-Internet. That's the Imus I know and respect.

@@Hamigal , I used too watched his show in the morning before I went to work, but I saw meanness and narcissism. He knew how to play the game and did it well making him a multimillionaire. Interestingly, I listened to Stern on the radio and not Imus.

Don Imus wasn't influenced by anyone other than himself. He was abrupt, harsh, tough to work, and a one-of-a-kind. He always did what he said he was going to do. There will never be another Don Imus.
I remember when Imus was on VH-1 in the mid 80's and he used to have the funniest comments about some of the video's; "And now, a video by Michael Jackson, though I don't know why anyone would care or want to watch..." hahaha

I grew up listening to Imus in the morning since it started on WNBC in 1971. Don Imus is the greatest radio personality of all time!
Imus made many work mornings bearable. You gave your fans, families & struggling children wonderful memories. Our thought are with all your loved ones who are mourning their loss today.
We will be seeing a LOT more people like him who aren’t afraid to speak their mind. Like it or not. That’s what makes this country. People with many views. The main thing is not to be AFRAID to speak your mind. To say “we embrace people of all walks of life” but oppose those that don’t think like you is as hypocritical as it gets. You better get used to people that don’t think like you and WILL speak their mind without fear of backlash. The pendulum is finally swinging the other way. You better get used to it snowflakes. Political correctness is on its way out!

We listened to his show every morning on WBLI. Only reason I stopped was because I moved after graduation in ‘75 - his show wasn’t available to me in England. So long ago. God rest his soul......

I used to love listening to Imus on MSNBC, before it became such a radical network, and his back and forth with sidekick, Charles McCord. He was a great interviewer and would call it like he saw it, much like President Trump, who was one of his regular guests. Imus also had a tender heart toward the suffering of others. Condolences to his family.

When Don's voice came on over the radio, we who loved him immediately felt better about life and ourselves and had our faith in the possibility of humor and laughter restored. He seemed to me to be a wonderful "everyman" for us. Dear God, have mercy on his soul & ours.

Just to state for the record,Don Imus returned to radio at New York's WABC 770 AM in December 2007,eight months after his firing from WFAN 1050 AM. He left WABC in May 2015 and finished his broadcasting career at a Texas station in early 2018.
