    I agree Griffin went WAY over the line, but Trump did defend Ted Nugent when he called for the beheading of Obama and Hillary. Just saying.

    • @moonlily1
      @moonlily1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Trump also suggested that second amendment activists assassinate Hillary Clinton, encouraged his supporters to assault protestors, joked about admiring Putin for having journalists killed, and never condemned the wave of hate crimes in his name or disavowed his endorsement from the KKK. He never apologized for those things. Griffin at her lowest still has the moral high ground over Trump. You think he audience of catty gay guys are going to go out and try to behead someone because of her twitter feed? Nah. It's tacky and it's adding on to an already toxic climate, but it's not actually hurting anyone.

      Hmmm...what's worse: a COMMEDIENE (who is not an official representative whatsoever) crossing the line with a joke OR a sitting president saying someone should "take her out" (in regards to Hillary) and inviting someone who made death threats to the previous president.
      Hmmm...so hard to figure that one out.

    I'm not a conservative, I'm a classic liberal who doesn't relate AT ALL with this new-age liberalism crap. But... I think it's important to note that Ana and Cenk are quick to accept an apology from someone from the left, but had a conservative done a photoshoot like this, they would be attacking them relentlessly and would not accept their apology and brush the situation under the rug like they do in this video.
    DOUBLE-STANDARD, and that's what this whole neo-liberalism is all about.

    • @joe6274
      @joe6274 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Generally speaking, I think you're right. But in this video, Cenk sounded quite rational. He basically said that what Kathy did was worse than anything Sean Hannity's said on the air, and CNN was right to can her.

People are tired of the same old and no matter what a cancer trump was to many at least he was not the same old. The dems promised stasis and Hillary was a terrible candidate, that is why they lost.

      Trump didn't claim he said "mommy", TMZ did. And if you think Hillary, the woman who overthrew and destabilized the nation of Libya and had Gaddafi killed, just to appease her donors in the oil industry who will be enriched by uninhibited access to Libya's oil and her military industry special interest donors, then laughed about it on television, deserves an apology, you are a sick person. Trump hasn't done anything nearly that disgusting.
      Angela Merkel's government arrests people for criticizing her immigration and refugee policies. You can call them racist (even though they're not) but if you think they deserve government forced punishment for speaking out against what they perceive as being forced into being around a less civilized culture (rightly so), then I again think you are sick.
      He most definitely doesn't owe the woman who fantasized about holding his severed head. You are unbelievably disgusting if you think he does.

      Gwen Wolf 1. Most them were just dickheads, she's a national figure with a national audience.
      2. She played right into Trumps victimhood complex and enabled him to distract from the shitheap he's making of the presidency.
      3. its pathetic attention seeking behavior from someone who ought to know better, and played right into the alt-right narrative of "its the left that are violent".

    • @Eric-vh3ur

      The Obama effigies were sick, just as sick or more so than this. But those weren't conservative public figures doing it, or they would have lost all their sponsors as well.
      Just for some perspective, Trump received 100 TIMES the number of death threats Obama received during his 8 years in office on social media before he was even inaugurated. You are pathetically mistaken if you think Obama was subjected to the same amount of scrutiny and utter hatred that the media is intentionally creating for Trump.

  • @OrdenJust
    @OrdenJust 7 ปีที่แล้ว +27

    I agree that the Kathy Griffin picture crossed the line. If comedy was her intent, she could have done better. For example, she could have been dressed in a surgical cap and gown, holding the severed head, and captioned the photo, "We found the source of the President's constipation, and surgically removed it from his rectum, where it had been lodged for over twenty years."

    • @bloodraighna
      @bloodraighna 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that you have a great point, Orden Just. I also think that if she wanted it to be more artful, she could have maybe taken a few notes from Peter Paul Reubens, Gustav Klimt, Lucas Chranach, etc and their depictions of Judith with the head of Holofernes. If she would have been emulating (for instance) Gustav Klimt's painting by dressing in gold with the Trump logo behind her holding the non-bloodied head of Trump, then I think that could at least pass for art or an homage to a work of art. I think then she would have had a lot more support for something more comedic or something that's noticeably artful than the image that she chose to post.

      How about Donald Jr. posing with innocent animals he and Eric murdered in Africa. I supposed that is OK for his apologists? Kathy did not murder anyone. 45 killed our standing in the world and has incited violence on more than one time during his speeches and rallies. Remember him saying he could shoot someone and not loose any votes? 45 is a horrible, disgusting, vile and evil person without any redeeming qualities and this applies to all who surround him as well. I do like what you stated about the source of his constipation. That gave me quite a chuckle.

      He's actually probably the least of all those things that we've had in 30 or so years. All our presidents have been funded by the oil companies, the defense industry, big pharma, and several other special interests and lobbyist causes, with complacence by the media, for decades now. Trump is not, everything he does is, in his mind, done in our best interest. He won't start a war to appease his donors like Bush, or bomb and overthrow countries like everyone since Reagan. Hillary wanted a war with Russia. You can dispute whether his policies will actually cause the economic prosperity he is aiming for, but to suggest that he is evil and intentionally sabotaging us is laughable, especially if you think Hillary or Obama had pure intentions.

Comedians should get a pass for stuff like this. Cutting off the head of the court jester just means there's stuff you can't jest about, and that's dangerous in any society.

She states very clearly that she was apologizing due to the reactions she saw on social media, NOT because she truly understands what she did was wrong.

What Kathy Griffin did wasn't anything worse than what was depicted in that film, which had a limited release in the US and even won 6 awards on top of that.

    Not a bad discussion so credit is given where credit is due. You folks do much better when you stay calm. I don't care about Kathy Griffin either way. She practiced mean spirited comedy (which is an accepted form of comedy) and her chickens came home to roost when she finally overreached herself. She, in my opinion, is not a player in any event and I think the media went nuts when it did not need too. I agree, tactically, her apologies are making it worse rather than better. She should have shrugged it off and moved on. She would have needed to reinvent herself, but that gets done, but with the apology she just looks insincere as the apology was clearly done for economic reasons as was pointed out in the conversation.

    That was some apology... what disturbs me , is that she and others put alot of effort into creating the idea, the prop, the shoot, etc..... and not once did anyone realize that not only was it not funny, but it was a bad idea, disturbing, and sick on too many levels to even get into..... and here is my point, really.... People like this exist, and they encourage one another, they plan and perpetuate evil ideas,...So now she is like wow I thought I was going to be applauded.... and now she gets it? Really? I don't think she does.... sick.

    I'm a fan of Kathy but I'm not buying this "I'm so sorry" thing she's playing out. Where was all this when she agreed to do the photo shoot? Where was all this when she decided to share this image on her Twitter account? She knew what she was doing. And at the time she didn't see anything wrong with it, otherwise she would not have taken part in it and certainly not shared it on her social media account. So she isn't sorry about this, she's sorry about people's reaction and that it's causing her to have to deal with the consequences. I can't feel sorry for her because of this, and she deserves to be criticized.
