charlie having the most expensive deck by a mile and then eating at the table and not knowing what his cards do is so fuckin wild lmao
homie is the epitome of chaotic evil energy lmao
He would be very annoying to play with as a stranger, but a hilarious friend to fuck around with lol
J
It's the funniest thing about this game
Collector vs Player mentality
Charlie with 2 masterpieces and a galaxy foil turn 1 , i see a fellow raccoon who just plays very shiny pretty things .
Dude every nonland for like 4 turns were masterpieces. Wild.
@@ubberJakerz Followed by a Gaea's Cradle LOL! I was just waiting for Power 9 to come down.
He’s got that TH-cam money
Spending $800 on a $1 card is the dumbest shit I've ever heard.

On one hand, Charlie is actually using the expensive cards he pulls. On the other hand, i feel like half the reason the deck exists is to use those cards
yea but he didn't pull all those masterpieces he just bought them
@@mrmatticus9693yep but atleast he uses them for play rather than display
@@mrmatticus9693It’d be nearly impossible for him to pull them all. So it doesn’t matter if he bought them or pulled them.
He can spend his money how he damn pleases its not like he's acting that he pulled them. He's playing the damn card game
I mean... to be fair... it is always better to buy singles over packs.
I love how you can tell that Wubby triple sleeved his deck because of the insane height
Legit was tryna figure out why it was double the size
Triple is kinda overkill imo, I double mine and it’s absolutely perfect. Can’t imagine putting another sleeve over them. Would have to Totally rearrange the way they are stored and it’s prohibitively expensive.
@@hsheeld a revised land is also prohibitively expensive and this man has more than one in there ^^
@@ihavegotnoidea I believe wubby has said that all his decks are triple sleeved witch is normally reserved for your more expensive decks he wants to actually pass down/play with his kids

“I’m insulted.”

I'm here to watch Wubby become emotionally distressed over pieces of cardboard.
He’d hate that I kept cards raw unsleeved wrapped in rubber bands In a tent unprotected while I was homeless
@@Luckie_7 i don't think he'd care unless they were valuable enough to make you unhomeless.
also does this explain the smell at magic tournaments? am I playing against homeless people
@@endlesswanderer1753 I have a few nicer cards worth between 40 and 300 bucks but they get played and shuffled etc. can’t afford sleeves, I kept a silica gel from beef jerky pack in my deck box which helped it stay dry. Honestly the smelly homeless ppl do meth and fentanyl and I know meth and fentanyl won’t make them able to play magic. I think it was common variety nerd stank
@@endlesswanderer1753 honestly kept recognizing cards I own in Charlie’s deck
i love how charlie has the most insane deck ever, but seemingly barely understands the fundamentals.
its like kids buying all the skins on fortnite
Yeah, new CSGO player rocking Dragon Lores and knife skins. If I was his friend, there is no way I'd play against a deck like this again unless I'm allowed to proxy up to a power 8 myself
@@devinloew7681 doesn't seem like it was that serious though. Just brought decks that they thought were fun. Seems like they all had a good time so no harm no foul
"I was using an orthacopter"
@@devinloew7681Charlie is playing a lot of individually powerful cards but his deck is not power level 8. Probably closer to 6 based on the cards we can see. There isn’t much synergy it’s just a collection of his favorite cards
Watching Wubby gas up Charlie for his blinged out deck, all while knowing his Kozilek deck exists. It's like watching Scrooge McDuck gas up Mr. Burns about how nice his private jet is.
This does feel like the mtg equivalent of rich people parking sports cars in front of each other
Yes. Mana vault into shackles with zero islands in play. As Garfield intended.
"That's a bitch move from a bitch" is the funniest thing I think I've ever heard in a Magic video. Please keep making more of these.
This is the longest I've seen omniscience be on the battlefield without the owner winning the game immediately
Wait... You get to cast omniscience??? I die either the turn I cast it or the following turn... XD
One time I cast Omniscience into expropriate, had 3 extra turns, and STILL went to the last turn before winning 😅🤣 sometimes dems da breaks
That’s how you know you’re playing Magic with cool people.
@@jordanewers5375 naw that’s how you know your playing casual or with people who slow play on purpose
Well his card draw engine was turned off after Wubby got kicked out to the game. Group hug puts power 8 decks on steroids. Don't know how the game lasted that long though like you said.
I need about a million videos with Wubby and Charlie playing magic together. Made my day
Charlie missing damage on upkeep for tapped mana vault, but also THESE DECKS?!?!?
Holy hell Charlie's board is more expensive than my car lmao
Yeah, such a waste.
Why a waste?@@metalheadofmordor9169
@@metalheadofmordor9169It isn’t a waste if he enjoys them. It’s a luxury he can afford. A car is a luxury that someone can afford, but you wouldn’t call that a waste. But do you need one? No, you could take the bus, or an Uber, or walk anywhere you need to go. But you’d rather have the car, right? Just like he’d rather have the masterpiece series.
@@Yourbeautiful666 I agree with what you're saying but I wouldn't call a car a luxury. can't afford an uber, no bus stop near me, can't walk across highways. A shitty $500 car is definitely not a luxury when it's a necessity to get to work. I still agree with you but a car is a very poor example of a luxury for a working class person.
Capitalism working as intended. This man watches TV and plays video games for work and you all are all still giving him the "me lord" treatment. He can have the luxury car, the masterpiece deck, and anything else he wants. What is this about tradeoffs when you have that level of wealth?
The way these guys are representing their graveyards is going to give me an aneurysm
bro same D: - thousands of dollars on the table (across 8 permanents) just for the graveyard to be inches away from the in-play board state has me itching my skin
It’s pretty normal to do that when you have graveyard recursion/flashback/retrace/underworld breach lines
I feel this 😂 Jesus
Do you go outside and hold a wake and burial for your cards? Im genuinely curious what you do thats so outlandishly different?

Only reason I haven't built one yet. People don't really appreciate it enough
He missed at least 3 draws and a token on his first turn with The Council of Four.
22:56 he missed another token
If you all are gonna be doing more MtG content here, would be really cool if you all would post the decklists in the description or something like that. Maybe a link for each player going to an Archidekt list or something.
Love seeing Wubby at a new table, one day he'll be at the Professor's!
Also, what fun pod, feels like playing with the boys you guys all have great chemistry and senses of humor.
Professor calls up "Hey Wubby, if you bring Charlie with you can play with us."
The Prof and wubby would make for an interesting episode of Shuffle up and play
Think about how much raw fucking MONEY is on that fucking table. Imagine charlie is sitting there playing with $50 to $500 bills. Shits WILD
$5k+ easily. Imagine if your first commander deck was anywhere near that. Mine was like $150ish and I felt really stupid for even having spent that on cards
@@devinloew7681 I once tried to make a deck with all masterwork artifacts. it came out 11K+, but charlie is going out of his way to use other expensive cards as well like Gaeas Cradle
@@devinloew7681 Yeah, I'm a big CEDH player... Most of us commonfolk just use proxies to play these days. Game is too fucking expensive for people who aren't Mr. Moneybags like Charlie. He can do whatever he wants with his money, not knocking him for that. More so knocking MTG. People can be like "oh well it's a luxury, not a necessity" all they want, but my brother... it is fucking cardboard. When you're actually playing with a deck of proxies vs a normal deck, the only real difference is that the proxied deck cost $10 and the normal deck cost $1000.
I have been SLOWLY getting all the black staples since I primarily play black decks in mtg, but even that is a treat. Shit like Vampiric Tutor, Meathook Massacre, Demonic Tutor, Imperial Seal, Urborg, Cabal Coffers, etc. Feels like each new card is $50 and I need 10 of them for it to make a difference in my deck.
@@Alino- Yep. The fact that power is concentrated a lot into the rarer cards has only made things worse. I was able to gradual bling out my Jodah deck and turned it into an Esika deck with Secret Lairs over the years for a much lower price, but most people don't have that benefit.
@@devinloew7681 I think op meant that each card is basically anywhere between $50-500
charlie having all those masterpieces and shiny cards and not knowing basic magic mech is making me chuckle lol
Wubbys lost so much weight since i last seen him I couldn't recognize him at first.
I will say it here too… wubby’s deck looking like the Burj Khalifa because it’s quadruple sleeved or somethin
It's great to see Charlie playing MTG. I'm a huge fan of Wubby and Charlie! And I am currently playing EDH every Monday at my locals, so it's awesome to see Charlie getting into the game.
The "I never pop off with this deck." at the end was kinda wild. Charlie basically plays most of the most broken cards to exist every turn.
I assume because he would die first. Also, there were so many things he could do but decided to do the funny play like stealing an archivist.
it has very little synergy and draws a lot of hate. idk tho
@@Champion_Leon stealing the archivist wasn't just for the fun of it, it allowed him to play Omniscience afterwards, since Cradle then tapped for 2 mana instead of just 1.
To be fair though, up until and including the omniscience he played his cards out incredibly fairly. The table definitely just let him get away with it by not running some form of interaction outside of the one vain attempt by Wubby when it was already too late.
@@EnemyToad Yea, hes got a lotta strong cards but overall the deck seemed unfocused and kinda just won by everyone else killing eachother.

This one deck of Charlie’s is probably worth more than my whole collection. And I’ve been collecting since 2015
No doubt more than my entire existance.
Yeah, I might be able to sell my car and get a good chunk of his deck
Try 1994
Another big reason he couldn’t deflecting palm the Game of Chaos is because Game of Chaos isn’t considered “damage”. It’s “loss of life”.
Nice catch Ive been screwed by specifics like that on combat phase so many times. It's really hard being a newer player sometimes
@@devinloew7681 yeah haha, there’s so much emphasis on semantics
very true though it's ironic that damage does count for loss of life...eg contaminated bond :)
@@lilgroot135 haha seriously
I believe the council would have triggered at 18:08 because it states players not opponents
After Charlie’s relapse, I knew It wasn’t a matter of “if” Charlie was gonna show up on an EDH channel, but a “when”. Fucking genius
Wubby triple sleeving because he ain't about to rebuy his cards. As someone who double sleeves any $300+ deck, I respect it.
Ive been double sleeving every deck I am taking anywhere else to play. Including several precons. Its not too hard to double sleeve and its only a couple extra bucks for 100 inner sleeves. Its more about all the cards having the same feel and the same size to me. I want my $200 cards to feel the same as my $.10 cards, even between decks.
@@Wolfie-gj9ch also, i'm not sure if that's really the case, but i guess other players could notice that some of your cards are fatter, and thus probably more "dangerous".
The most iconic Megatron victory i will ever see
7:00 This happened from the first Kynaios trigger but Bala Ged Sanctuary (the back side of Bala Ged Recovery) can not be put into play from the Kynaios trigger. Relevant rules below but to summarize anywhere except on the battlefield or on the stack it is ALWAYS what the front side is therefore it is NOT considered a land at the time of the trigger resolving.
711.4a. While a double-faced card is outside the game or in a zone other than the battlefield or stack, it has only the characteristics of its front face
711.8. A player playing a modal double-faced card as a land chooses one of its faces that's a land before putting it onto the battlefield. It enters the battlefield with that face up.
711.10. A double-faced card put onto the battlefield from a zone other than the stack enters the battlefield with its front face up by default.
305.4. Effects may also allow players to "put" lands onto the battlefield. This isn't the same as "playing a land" and doesn't count as a land played during the current turn.
Bonus scenario: If it was a pathway land that you chose to put into play from Kynaios (or any other burgeoning/growth spiral type of effect) It would always be the front face of the pathway. If you are "playing" the land and not "putting" the land into play that is the only time in which you can use the backside of any MDFC style card.
Ok never played a game of this in my life, nor do I understand it, but I'm immediately hooked and want to learn this.

I've loved MTG for thirty years, it's an absolute delight to watch two of my favorite internet people enjoy a game of commander!
Council of four does work for you on your turn Wubby.
yeah temple bell + his draw land should net him 5 cards (+1 for each opponent drawing their second card on his turn)
@@drewkosko8931 nah council only looks at the players whose turn it is to give card draw so just either card nets him a 3rd but can't net anymore

Charlie playing Magic?! What a time to be alive 🤩
whattup phil!
ur mtggoldfish vids are the best man
I know the game is just for fun. So ultimately this doesn't matter. Did they fuck up the oblation play? Wasn't wubby playing that in response to Charlies first spell after omniscience? If Charlies first spell was mana drain, then what is charlie targeting with that spell? Oblation isn't on the stack yet. Oblation is being played in response to mana drain. Let me know.
When he used Vedalken Shackles to steal the 2/2 from Wubby, that was an illegal move since he would have needed 2 islands. At the time, he only had 1 (Tropical Island), so the maximum power creature he could steal would have been a 1/x. The Breeding Pool (not an island) he played was also an illegal move, since he both drew a card and placed a land off the same Kynaios trigger, in that order. He should have been 2 mana short of casting Omniscience. These missed calls significantly impacted the game. He also missed every single Mana Vault damage trigger.
Yep, but the table didn't even stand a chance against his cEDH deck
Breeding pool is a Forest/Island, so unless your (not an island) means not only an island that's incorrect, no?
Breeding pool is an island 1000% in this context. If shackles said “each basic island” you’d be right but breeding pool just like tropical island is an island. That’s why a fetch land that says “search library for an island or plains card” lets you search for shock lands or any land that has that land type.
@@devinloew7681not cedh, just a hastily slapped together deck with all the “coolest” and best cards Charlie could get his hands on. You’d never see a platinum angel in cedh.
Wait, the Omniscience play made no sense. The way it should have worked is, Charlie plays Omniscience, it comes in since nobody had counters. Then he holds priority and plays one thing. Then in response, Wubby can destroy it. It makes no sense that he would Mana Drain because Wubby hasnt played the removal to be countered yet.
Wubby look like Ryan and Drew’s love child
Man magic is great, my buddy convinced me to 8 months ago and now every single one of my friends plays magic. Nothing but good laughs and trust issues.
Playing a terramorphic expanse and plateau in the same deck is legit wild.
Fr glad I’m not the only cedh player here 😂
I mean, if the decks is pretty much just fetches and lands it’s a perfectly fine thing.
Can I play?
nice it would be cool to see charlie in an episode of game knights or shuffle up and play one day
Charlie and the prof would be an interesting combo
He’d have to learn the game more first, but it would definitely be great to see.
I’m not super into magic (I don’t know why I’m here). I know how to play and all, but that’s now why I’m here. The banter is soooo funny.
I absolutely love the editing in this
No one's gonna mention the AC sword of feast and famine Charlie plays at 4:55 ? The sets not out for another month
Charlie isn't using the AC sword, he's using the Kaladesh invention version. They just chose the picture from the AC set in the editing.
More commander games, this was awfully neat to watch!
Wubby needs to play this deck on Mulligan's bc it rly didn't get to shine
I know this is gonna be a BANGER
The no mana vault damage was kinda bugging me but I get it. A lot was going on.
Can y'all please use the actual print that's on the table for card popup? That was throwing me off lol.
Charlie your killing me brother take the 1 damage from that vault being tapped bud.....how did know one notice that
I love how turn 1 there's more monetary value on the board than my entire magic and yugioh collections that I've been slowly amassing over 10 years. It's fun and a bit tilting. I oppened so many kaladesh boosters and never opened a single masterpiece.
So that omnisciense resolution was all over the place lol.
First of, casting that white spell in response would obviously not have a target since omnisciense is still on the stack but if we argue that it was left to resolve, Charlie still held priority after it enters so he could cast whatever he wishes first and then still cast any instant speed spells with the removal on the stack... 😂
as a edh player for years, it hurts my soul to watch how bad they misplayed the omniscience turn at 29:00. Not only were they not playing the priority correctly, Charlie, bless his soul, is playing the cool versions of cards without knowing what they do, he probably could have won with the memnarch and rings of brighthearth.
It's always kind of fun watching newer players play some EDH. Infinite combos just sit on the board nobody calls out, no threat priority, People just slapping cards down with no goal lol. It's actually adorable.
21:23 is so funny, the combo of the zoom in on the card, and then Charlie reading 1/5 of the total text on the card is so great.
Ive played Magic the Gathering for almost 20 years and have amassed a few cards, Charlie's deck is worth more than my collection. Absolute mad lad
I know absolutely nothing about what is going on but this is great for having on in the background
Who doesn’t love being that guy - 7:03 can’t put an MDFC into play on the land side using the Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis ability cus its not a land in your hand.

Going from the fun decks of the Mulligan's pod, to the fighting for their lives against moneybags Charlie is whiplash. Seeing one sword was like "Oh okay so its just gonna be kind of tryhard" Then seeing the double mill sword and omniscience was "Damn I get the challenge of going against such a strong deck but just look at the fun of wubby's deck vs charlie's that is just fun for him really" I mean my guy Charlie didnt need his commander until 45 minutes in

They easily could have beaten Charlie they were just taking it easy on him since he's learning. His deck wouldn't have done nearly as well if he wasn't fed 15 cards by wubby. Just because he has some expensive cards doesn't mean his deck is crazy powerful.
I want a shirt that says, "I know how to play Magic the Gathering"

They skipped turn zero. No way is Charlie's Post Malone level blinged out $5k deck not a power level 8 against the rest of the tables' like 5-6. What a cracked opening hand too
