It's incredible that there was a new type/color of garnet discovered so recently. Is there a type of garnet that comes in a true/pure fuchsia color? Magenta and Fuchsia are similar to each other but still distinctively different. I imagine fuchsia garnets are incredibly rare, but still possible to be found. Thank you Jaimeen for coming on the show!
Wow! Those are gorgeous! I love garnet for all the beautiful spectrum of colors that it comes in, and rhodolite garnets were my favorite! I didn't even know about the purple ones! And these brand new ones are so gorgeous! I've got a new favorite color! Magenta has long been a favorite color of mine! Up until about 1 yr ago, my hair has been dyed magenta since I was 17! It was a dark auburn with a purple added to it! And I loved it. I called it purplier! These new garnets are absolutely beautiful! The difference is obvious when next to in comparison with the others. Fabulous color and the shift when the stone is larger, in color, is totally cool! I have a new favorite garnet! And overall pretty high on my gem favorites too! Thanks for sharing this exciting, new discovery, with us!🎉❤
Wow, these colors are insane, great ep! I think a video about pyroxene would be really interesting! Faceted enstatite jewelry, bronzite and hypersthene cabs, pleochroism and schiller, lots of interesting chemistry and mineralogy.
I have a pair of rodalite earrings pear-shaped and faceted and I love them I have a red garnet and a real Brown garnet and I definitely love this color❤
I love what I thought was rhodolite garnet and was shopping around for a piece in this exact color, but I thought the purplish tones like these ones already existed under rhodolite, I have small ones in this shade set in a ring. For these new ones is their distinction just the location they're mined or is there a chemical difference? Honestly, it's hard to visually tell apart some of the new magenta garnet and the grape ones, even in the cut examples there's some variation that pushes it more purple. I do adore this colour though, and it's great that there's a new source that produces them. I just wonder if there's an intrinsic difference between the more violet garnet and this new one.
Seeing them in person, there was definitely a difference in shade between the magenta and the grape. Hopefully, once these become part of jewelry, we'll be able to do more side by side comparisons.
I have a beautiful 14K gold ring I purchased while working in Park City Utah that is, I was told, an “onion cut” garnet. . It is flat on top and shaped like an onion cut in half. Is there such a cut? I’ve been unable to find any information about it. Thx!
I would use somewhat included stone made into chip beads or possibly rounds doesn't have to be perfectly not included or AAA+ or "gem quality" pink and purple are my favorite colors! ❤
wow i literally just rewatched ypur garnet episode yesterday 🤯 QUESTION: how is it different from the other garnets structurally? i hope you guys find larger and larger gem-grade pieces and maybe even facet one as big as the Lion of Merelani tsavorite!
Good question! The answer is...we're not sure. Like rhodolites, these garnets most likely fall somewhere in the pyrope/almandine range of garnets, meaning either a magnesium aluminum silicate or an iron aluminum silicate, but with the other mixed in to some degree (since garnets are rarely wholly within a single species). But, what makes these unique is the color and that can be a very complicated mixture of trace elements, including iron, chromium, manganese, and vanadium. I don't believe these have yet been tested deeply enough or with enough specimens to make a determination as to the specific trace elements and valence states responsible for this lovely shade.
@@gems wow yeah it's such a distinct color in a gem that you could easily describe it like how you describe blue in Paraiba tourmaline or the green of tsavorite or emerald or the orange of spessartite or the sunset hue of Padparascha amd i could go on and on
Fantastic looking gems. Just hope the farmers have been treated with resect and not given a miniscule amount to dig up thier fields, loosing the land to a mine.
Jai-meen, Jai-meen, Jai-mee-eee-eee-eee-eeen! Wait, do I hear Robert lurking around in the studio?? (Where can I get that flashlight and does it also have a LWUV and SWUV feature?) Thanks!
It's a subtle difference, but the color of these appeared distinctly different from the rhodolite and grape garnets. There may be something else out there that is closer to it, but I haven't personally seen it.
Check the links in the description! I was surprised by how affordable these are. And they are definitely garnets, you can be sure about that. JTV diligently tests the gems they sell and stands behind them, with a return policy.
I highly doubt the people on this video who have millions of views and are very well-known would scam you. And not really fair to say that about India considering about 80% of all gemstones passed through there at some point for either lapidary or certification
Stunning! As a garnet collector these came just in time for my 20th anniversary gift & the colour of passion comment sealed it 💜
Wonderful!

Pyrope garnets from diamondiferous kimberlites come in most colors including fuchsia.
@@ModernProspector Thank you for taking the time to answer my question!
I can feel the intensity in jaimeen ,it shows the future of the magenta malawi garnet is bright !!!
Really cool! Hopefully the local people of Malawi are the ones benefiting from this new discovery and not some foreigner mining operation.
That part.
probably not
Wow, great get for a world debut! Love that color, I look forward to seeing them hit the market.
Finally finger nails that respect the gem. Thank you!
Magenta was always my favorite crayon🎉😊
When will we see them set in jewelry? You brought us the grape garnet, and now this! Beautiful.

garnets are so cool that you can have orangey red, to green.
Beautiful ❤. The garnet family had become my favourite gemstone.
I feel like pink gemstones are getting their time now. Mahenge spinel, pink sapphire, now this!
My grandfather was named for this beautiful stone & it's also my sons middle name. A new colour is so exciting ❤️💜🩷
Please, put it in a spectrophotometer UV-Vis
Absolutely gorgeous 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷
Malawi moonstone is also breathtaking!
“We’ve never seen heard of or seen important gemstones out of Malawi” bros forgetting about the beautiful sapphires currently coming out of Malawi
A beautiful stone

A well timed discovery no doubt, especially when considering Pantone's colour of the year for 2023 was Viva Magenta
I have a pair of rodalite earrings pear-shaped and faceted and I love them I have a red garnet and a real Brown garnet and I definitely love this color❤
Just lovely!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
What a time to be alive! New magenta garnets and the discovery Mars sulfur crystals!!!
Gemstones~ that's amazing - I'll be back. ;)
It’s color is perfection

But what is the difference between this garnet and rhodolite? Is it another chemical component that gives it this color?
Good question!
These look like rhodolite garnet to me. Do you have any samples of the newly discovered blue color garnet?
So pretty ❤!
Very nice
so cool.
Nice video ❤❤❤❤❤
Garnets are the best

That's great
Love garnets!
Wow
Is beautiful
Hi friends!
I want one x
Would love to know the MOH scale. Assuming it’s 7-ish? Cool gems…like rubies but more affordable ❤
I would use somewhat included stone made into chip beads or possibly rounds doesn't have to be perfectly not included or AAA+ or "gem quality" pink and purple are my favorite colors! ❤
Have you ever done content on *Musgravite*
I don't believe we have. Maybe one day in the future!
i assume these stones at jtv are si quality? how much are the finer stones?
wow i literally just rewatched ypur garnet episode yesterday 🤯

Crazy how pretty this girl is!!!❤
As garnets they probably hold that hue well vs amethyst
Are they natural?
where can i get rough? im an aspiring cutter

Are you guys making new videos or just running old ones. I’ll miss them
Yay...
my daugther birtstones 😊glad that have a new colors.
So... different than the grape Garnet Naktamunda Mine, Subarnapur District, Odisha, India?
Plenty of mantle pyrope have this colour. I don't see anything new here except the origin.
I wish you asked him about prices so we get the full picture. Despite of that, amazing episode.
Check the links in the description!
great
May I please talk to you about fixing the bigger ones for you please
Rhodolite Looks the same from malawi
She has such beautiful hands.
Tought we had all shades of red discovered?
It's a subtle difference, but the color of these appeared distinctly different from the rhodolite and grape garnets. There may be something else out there that is closer to it, but I haven't personally seen it.
beautiful new gemstone but....sorry i have lot since the 80s... is that really new gem?!?!
Offer the rough for folks who like specimens please
BS test the hardness I bet it's a 9 in ruby I bet
Purrrrr, no idea if it be a somewhat dubious 'discovery'. The story, farmers ploughing a field etc., hmmm.
Can some body help mee identify all my stones
So how much for these sweeties? If they come from India they are probbly just colored glass, sorry ive been burnt before.

First 💎🔮
Welcome!
Sounds like marketing nonsense. Looks like umbalite garnet to me.
In my experience, umbalite tends to be much more red than these. Maybe we'll do a comparison sometime.
I would be interested to see the chemical comp of the two
Do umbalite garnets shift color also? Maybe that's the differentiating factor?
Me too, except I was thinking Rhodolite Garnet.
Is hard to understand him
Another rhodolite variety. Many rhodolites colour shift. Lots available. This is just a marketing ploy.
I would love to get some of this, however I'm in Australia and you guys don't send anything this way. Could you send me a link to this dealer. PLEASE
