1. Those tongs are for food and are too sharp to use on cactus. I use rubber tipped tongs.2. To strike cactus i stick them into a pot of dry Perlite till they root
Do I need sterile gravel ? Is perlite any better? 😊

Nope? You can let the end dry out a bit so it doesn’t rot. You can wait a while before watering.
