    Great review. I've had mine for 3 years now.(warn every single day... I work as a roofer!!! This watch gets some punishment...knocked againstthis and that, dust, you name it......my watch face is pristine...not a single scratch!!!...I know of Breitling owners, who's watches have failed them...food for thought...

      By watch face do you mean the Crystal? I expect the bracelet and case looks like a blacksmiths anvil from what you described using it as a daily beater.

    I have a larger collection. From Omega’s to Seiko’s… but the Longines Hydroconquest is my favorite! I went for the Blue dial with gold accents (the old man look)…and I love it! I wear this watch more than ANY OTHER in my collection. Don’t get me wrong, the Omega diver is over 20 years old now, and it for sure got worn more than any other watch I own. But in todays world, for a daily wear, I seem to grab the Hydroconquest more often than not.
    Enjoy the watch. It’ll never do ya wrong.

    I think weight is subjective, I like to have my my daily watch to be lightweight and low profile, so titanium is the way to go for me. But I do understand where you coming from. Detail and honest review by the way.

  • @RoHunter
    @RoHunter 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Nice review! Reassuring to see you have reached the same sort of conclusion on your watches. I just bought a GA-2100, trying to convince myself that I don't need a swiss diver. That didn't work though. While the Casio is very nice for what it is, I am still thinking of getting a swiss diver.
    I think that for the both of us, the value proposition has to be on point, when pulling the trigger on a watch, regardless of budget. As such I've been exploring all sorts of pieces for different offerings. Omega, Breitling, Oris, Tudor, Tag, etc. All of them are nice, but not all are for me and especially not all offer good value.
    The theory tells me I should like the Oris range of divers best, however, for some reason, I simply do not. Not rugged enough from a design? Quality somehow doesn't feel like it's where I would like it to be. I don't know what it is but I can't get myself to like it.
    The main watch which is still in the running for me, is the current TAG Aquaracer. Really love the design and build quality + the clasp is much easier to operate and the watch feels of better quality than the Longines (but then it should do, based on the asking price). However that basic ETA 2824-2 with it's 38 hours of power reserve is something which I find very hard to accept for it's price range, and more to the point... for general usage scenarios.
    As it stands, similarly to you, I've stumbled upon the Hydroconquest and I have to say, it's quite impressive for the price. Really like the design, the weight and build quality (same as you, can't stand the light feeling titanium watches, so fully agree on the Pelagos) appreciate the brands history, movement is a huge plus (as you mentioned, specifically due to the very useful power reserve). The only off-putting thing to me is the clasp which I felt is kind of hard to open. Do you have a tip on opening yours without breaking a fingernail? Or does it just get better with time?

    • @romanmoruz
      @romanmoruz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks for stopping by!
      Honestly, it doesn't get better, you just get used to it. I actually thought I was the only one experiencing this with the clasp but apparently not. Yeah, you'll just get used to it.

    8:00 it is kind of silly to buy a +2000USD watch to risk it in diving... if you have that kind of watch you just use it when dinning with friends or whet you are dating a girl to display a bit of status. For diving I would rather wear a chinese SteelDive which is also Saphire Crystal, automatic Seiko machine, and strong luminova markings, for less than 100USD

  • @tankt13

    I bought the 39mm a few days ago and its my first go of a Longines. The lume and buckle/diver's extension absolutely suck, the bracelet would've been better all brushed (in my opinion) and Im not a big fan of the smooth edge of the crown. Now, with that out of the way, this watch has quickly become my favorite watch that i own, mind you i have several Oris and Tudor watches and some pricy Seiko's. Other than the few issues I've stated, the HydroConquest is just perfect in every other way. I love how hefty it is, and it just feels masculine without going overboard. The accuracy is on-point and how the lugs curve downward just makes it sit perfectly on my wrist. Thanks for your long term review on it, makes me that much more confident that I bought a watch that will last me a lifetime.

      For those that wanted to know, the crownguards are not a problem. The bowl bottom case back raises the watch so the guards don’t scratch your hand.
      Now my only issue is that I will need to find a tool to let me swap the bracelet for a band when I’m in the mood to try new things…
