Likewise for the sub $5000 range, you can say the same about the BB58.

As an owner of both brands, I wear Longines more. But that might be an unfair comparison since it’s a Spirit Pilot. And the hydro conquest is the first watch that I have ever owned>traded away>and bought again. So there’s that. Price makes Longines more affordable while upgrading your collection nicely.

Tried both, then a new configuration for the hydroconquest showed up, black dial, green bezel, beige markers and hands, green nato strap. Tried it, and it felt better for me, the color way on hands and markers scratched that vintage itch and the quality was unrivaled for the price. So, Longines for me, so far.

Love my HC, it looks both classy with a redined dial and very masculine with the somewhere brutalist case. Didn't know I needed this comparison, but im a fan of the 58 as well! 😅
Couple of things I think were missed:
Battle of the snowflake hands, who did it better?
What size HC is that? (I can see it's 41 but I don't think you said and it's not in the description anywhere).
Sized weights would have also been useful if the HC is blowing out with a lot of spare links. I think it's just a heavy watch btw, mine on rubber is in the 120-130g range.
Does the new gmt bracelet fit the old HC? Ok that one is just for me haha.
Always enjoy your reviews of the HC, you showcase it well and shine a good light on it!

I really love Longines but the Hydroconquest wouldn't be my choice. I just feel the 6, 9 and 12 numerials are too overbearing. Conversely, I like the BB but when I've tried it, it feels a bit dull on the wrist. You have to respect Longines for putting out such a good watch at that price. So neither for me (along I loved watching your comparison) but if forced to choose, I would probably just edge to the Longines.

The problem with watches is that you never have enough of them. After my first Tag Heuer I have spent over 26000€ on watches. But I am not ready to stop yet. The Hydroconquest is as good as the Omega Aquaterra and the Harrods Tudor. They all keep the correct time. However I like the Tudor because it doesn’t have the date window. It is so booring to change the date. On the Seikos where there is the day also. And the retro look of the dial is classic

The Tudor BB’s in my opinion are massively overrated, the whole brand is so focused on the BB that they have taken their eye off the ball in regard to innovation. Longines have really been leading the way in regard to their spirit,Hydroconquest models over past couple of years. The fact Tudor have the audacity to charge almost double the price for a model that has less water resistance, no date function and no availability of different sizes is pretty comical actually. However you then remember they are owned by Rolex - and suddenly it all makes sense.

Both brands have size issues. One brand is always picking weird lug to lug sizes and then other is too thick. It comes down to price. Longine has a great price and design. Yes it has a better clasp and lume but that's it, everything else the longines is better, including the movement, the bb is technically a cheaper sub

Can’t deal with the wide hands with shallow depth. Reminds me of fashion watches and certain tissots of a significantly lower price point.

The date window on the Longines ruins the symmetry of the dial.

For me, it’s a no- brainer Chisholm: The Tudor Black Bay is just a loose replica of the Rolex Submariner. So for that matter, but the original model. Longines is clearly the choice for me.

that hydroquest is the 41 not the 39mm. It seems to me that the 39 looks better proportioned in the bezel/dial ratio

I don’t know what people in the comments are comparing things. Buy both! Problem solved.

Longines all day. If I'm spending my money, the Longines wins on value alone. The watches comp out similar and the Longines is more versatile. No way is the BB58 twice the watch as the Longines.

The Tudor is gorgeous, but the Longines punches far above what the price would suggest.

Longines Hydroconquest is the king of value divers but I would still pay the extra for the BB58 I have owned both

Buy BB58 pre-owned. Under $3k any day in a perfect shape. It doesn’t get better than that.

Obviously Longines L888 caliber and 300mt waterproof wins, at half price. Tudor suffers the Rolex disease 😂
