    You left out the old ping ponging cheat. Fades, crossfades, and distractions are also ways of getting an illusion of a loop when footage just has too much going on. Making complex loops with many elements is satisfying to pull off, like a perfect tiling texture. Sometimes you have to think about the elements as a polyrhythm, doing the math to see where the everything lands on the 1 again. But using the cyclic extrapolation mode makes that math irrelevant. I love that feature. It comes in handy for all sorts of things. Thanks for another year of quality posts Ducky! I'm using some of your textures right now btw...

    One more question.... I have a geometry node setup for buzzing fireflies but the one piece no tutorial shows or has is the light coming on and off randomly. I thought maybe I could animate the emission strength but then when I animate my ORIGINAL MESH, then ALL the instances on points start to come on and off at the same time. I wonder what I could do so that my animation isn't a static turning off and on of the emission strength but it's driven by a code that says turn on after X time, stay on for 2 seconds, turn off. If I could figure that out for the original firefly object, then since it's inherently random, it would be random for each instance? I'm just not sure cuz I tried to find the RANDOM NUMBER node inside the shader window and it was not available in a search. ??? So... I'm not smart enough to figure this one out. help? help a bruthah? hehe I want those fireflies to actually GLOW then stop for a time. That's actually what they do so....

    Hi Ducky 3D, just discovered that you can also loop your W by connecting a Rotate euler node to it and animate the X 0 to 360 degrees, but Y and Z will probably work just as good

    I'm trying to loop an idle animation for a character while the animation for the camera takes more frames than the idle animation for the character. I'll keep searching but you got a new sub anyway ✌

    Right on! Very helpful. I like the fix for keeping speed for a longer time. Is there a way to keep the speed for a shorter time? When I do 360 over 240 seconds my animation is pretty dizzying so I have to go out to 480, but that's double the render time. Not a huge problem, but if there's any ideas I'd appreciate it!

    Sure, nothing new, but this is super helpful to have all of these strategies on one location! Thanks for putting this together (and for sharing the project file)! Any suggestions for looping "volume"? I've been using your "volume smoke" trick (basically putting a noise and color ramp into a Principle Volume node), but have noticed it can cause visible jump when looping scenes.
    Love your channel, have spent a ton of time learning from you!

    my problem.... I am so new that I don't know what Blender can and cannot do. What I want to do is animate INTERNALLY, completely apart from the main animation timeline. ? IOW, I want an OBJECT to have an animation that loops and if my MAIN timeline goes on for 2000 frames, the OBJECT will sit there animating until frame 2000, doing it's thing. THAT is what I need to understand and most vids just pull up TIMELINE and I don't understand if that is THE timeline or just a timeline bound to THAT particular object or property. Thank you! Maybe 15:00 is what I'm wanting? The animation UIs are very confusing to me. I cannot tell what keyframes are what and where. Thanks.

    I made a comment on an older video of yours, and have really enjoyed following/making several projects here. What I haven’t been able to find is how to set/program animation actions to music timing. Baking curves is cool, but it isn’t music timing, so it sort of works but it’s tedious and way to granular when you already know the music timing for example and want to animate numerous parameters, for example from geo nodes. Cycles is also cool, but no music ever runs on video frame timing, so the cycle either falls behind or moves ahead and you end up reverting to manual envelopes. So looping is cool, but would be even cooler matched to music timing, without tediously tweaking Graph Editor;). Yeah I’m asking for a feature in Blender that does what Ableton Live does;). This would totally eliminate all the tunnels, duplicate instances, etc…which seems redundant coming from DAW land. If this could be procedural in geo nodes, you could for example simply create a 4 bar loop, enter BPM in a field, enter number of repetitions of your loop, and Rock and roll… c’mon ducky…help a brother out 😂

    • @ItsWesSmithYo
      @ItsWesSmithYo ปีที่แล้ว

      Btw, this guy made a clock in geonodes, so it appears there is a way to calculate time, vs frames, which means there is likely a way to make key frames that correspond to time, and thus music timing. Maybe someone else’s geonode expertise and math wizardry can leverage this into kicking this loop thing into overdrive;)

I don't know what I'm doing wrong , I can play the animation within Blender and all looks good , but I when I come to hit "Render Animation" it only renders the 1st frame and I've checked all my Output Settings. the concept of perfect loop is cool but doesn't make sense cause the technology, I mean... Loop is made mainly for reasons of economy, but doesn't work cause the even present buffering in every players and most on the web video players. Once I made a perfect linear loop of a so long project and I was so proud to have do it but after the release the damn buffering wasted all the magic. If I had known it was a problem, I would have made a very long video with many loops attached to each other, so the "economy" factor would have been lost but at least I would have seen that freeze only very few times...
