This is that part of Formula 1 that fans don't get to see, yet is so crucial and interesting! Thanks Mercedes for making a short video highlighting the key aspects.
We thought it was an area we haven't really explored or explained in detail before, for some reason. So, here you go!
Real fans do! I do. I love F1 because it’s the pinnacle of Motorsport engineering. I drive an AMG solely because of the brain power under the hood. Enjoy the physics and enjoy the elegance.
@@bn8530 "I love F1 because it’s the pinnacle of Motorsport engineering." that's the reason why you should love it. F1 was always about being the team with the best and most innovative car. It was never about close racing with similar cars. It was always about the smart guys behind the scenes that brought monster cars like the F2004. People really have to start admiring the art of creating such cars and not just the racing on track. If I want to see close racing with similar cars, I'd have tons of racing series to follow, if I want to see the best car racing around a track, I can only watch F1. I really miss the time when teams could throw money at a problem. Or simply imagine the legendary Spa race without T-Cars. Such a great time for the sport!
Screw cost caps, let the teams throw money at the problem and see what happens!

Wow, I'm always impressed with Mercedes, I don't know if they make better Formula 1 cars or if they make better documentaries about making Formula 1 cars. It really is a close call whatever it is. I would love to see a B.T.S. showing the video team in all it's creative glory. And I love how it's let us get to know all the major player's at Merc and gives us a surprisingly honest and open assessment of themselves and some major reasons why they have been soo dominant these last 7 years.
this shows of much work goes into the cars and just how many people's work carries onto a driver's shoulders when on track.

It’s very interesting that all F1 teams do the same testing but somehow find different solutions, that little bit of art behind the science is what makes the sport exciting

i have been a diehard mercedes fan since i was 6, i am now 24 and i'm in an age where i do business and since 2014 i am fully mercedes f1 and i am a true lover of mercedes amg and Mercedes amg f1. for me there is nothing better than Mercedes as a team really! i work tremendously every minute like mercedes f1 to be better than yesterday and know that you really inspire us and i weigh my words! love you all, how i would love to one day see this f1 team work in the factory and on the track really this is my ultimate dream.

There must be a lot of simulation and CFD now that there are limits on wind tunnel usage.
Our comment disappeared for some reason... but yes, CFD and simulation is relied on much more, due to the Wind Tunnel restrictions
As simulation software engine gets better and better with advancement in digital twin..i bet one day the results will almost equivalent what we are getting from wind tunnel test
Sums up our 2022 W13 performance pretty much. This video gives me new hope and I'm feeling we're only at the tip of the ice berg with this W13 design. Next year will be much better more like a W11 re-run. Much more to come.

And I just had this curiosity about the fact about how the technological transfer works between you guys at Brackley and the guys at Stuttgart..like for instance in one of your 'suspension' videos I noticed that it was mentioned that the engineers here work with the Daimler engineers to develop the 'tools' for suspension components....just wish to have a little more insight on that!

Ahh, buy a carbon fiber factory first, then get some wheels, some brakes (ask Aston Martin for the designs), a engine (Honda is going out of business, maybe you'll get a sale). Then a non-DAS steering wheel, a gearbox (advice: don't buy Ferrari's) and that's it
just make it so that it wont be a tractor like the SF1K
What Lewis and Mercedes have done pushing and pushing and pushing each other striving to be the best year after year after year is just amazing and why Mercedes is doing what no other team has done before after regulation changes and to still be up there at the front. And keep it going for his year most probably going to be your hardest. You can beat these red bulls and that max vercrashen for sure.
Not only the designs are top notch, the people at the factory seems to be a masterclass of its own. 8:21

for aero, have you also tried a "pushing wing" within the aixbox (just behind the driver's head)? i imagine it should offset some drag (if not provide a net pushing effect).
