This book examines the origins of the evil creator idea chiefly in light of early Christian biblical interpretations. It is divided into two parts. In Part I, the focus is on the interpretations of Exodus and John. Firstly, ancient Egyptian assimilation of the Jewish god to the evil deity
Seth-Typhon is studied to understand its reapplication by Phibionite and Sethian Christians to the Judeo-catholic creator. Secondly, the Christian reception of John 8:44 (understood to refer to the devil's father) is shown to implicate the Judeo-catholic creator in murdering Christ. Part II focuses
on Marcionite Christian biblical interpretations. It begins with Marcionite interpretations of the creator's character in the Christian "Old Testament," analyzes 2 Corinthians 4:4 (in which "the god of this world" blinds people from Christ's glory), examines Christ's so-called destruction of the Law
(Eph 2:15) and the Lawgiver, and shows how Christ finally succumbs to the "curse of the Law" inflicted by the creator (Gal 3:13). A concluding chapter shows how still today readers of the Christian Bible have concluded that the creator manifests an evil character.

The fascinating part of Mythvision is how Derek is able to talk to biblical scholars with vastly different ideas and specialties, and in so doing has given us the audience a level of understanding about early church history that has perhaps never existed in one place. It's easy to go very deep down a specific field of study, but it's rare nowadays to have a true breadth of knowledge across a topic that includes several specialized fields.

I agree, and I wish he would be open to believing that there is a God and that some of this stuff is actually historical and real. We all have been confounded by the injected distortions. How can we know what is authentic and factual? According to the Quran, that is actually what the role of the Quran is: to give us the correct history and stories relevant to understanding the path to salvation. It's main message is that we were all supposed to worship God alone and not focus on those who delivered the messages. Forget what muslims do and say, as they do not follow or comprehend the Quran. God alone controls everything. The Quran is proven to be composed mathematically in a structure that is far far beyond human ability. Read Dr. Rashad Khalifa's Quran: The Final Testament.
      Peace.

There’s a lot of key uses of “your” when he talked to the Judaeans. There’s a good theory that Christ in the story at least was a Samaritan (Price has written about this too); but broadly he could simply be a non-Yahwehist Hebrew (again, in the narrative, since he probably didn’t exist)

So regarding Satan, here is the Quranic world view, not Islam, I am not interested in what they say, but rather, what the Quran says. We were all angels in heaven somewhere. Satan was a very powerful one. He had an arrogant thought that he could do what God does. What does a god do? Let's sidestep being the Creator. A god has constituents and gives them a perfect life with no problems. He arranges everything in a grand tapestry. A small group agreed with Satan. There. was a big feud. God exposed Satan's arrogance and created this universe with this tiny speck of dirt and water sustaining life, and God told Satan to give it a try. God gave Satan the opportunity to prove his claim that he could be a god. But where was Satan to get his constituents. It turns out, that you and I and all the humans are those constituents. We are the ones who thought that maybe it is possible for Satan to be a god. God gave us a chance to repent and to just come down as an animal or a plant in a atoning role. But we were too arrogant, and we chose to come down for the test.
So there you have it. Satan is desperately trying to be the god for this planet, and we all suffer from his absolute incompetence. We chose to come here to experience Satan's trial run as a God. We were stupid because Satan cannot and never could do what only God Almighty does. All misery is a result of Satan, either intentionally or unintentionally. But as the Quran, Psalms 91 and Matthew 6:33 state, If you prove to be devoted absolutely to God alone, God will be your god. He will protect you from Satan's incompetence and He will intervene and give you a perfect life with no problems whatsoever here on this earth and forever in the next life. He will instruct the angels to give any proven devotee to God ALONE perfect protection, and they will not suffer even a scratch, or a stubbed toe.
God sent a messenger in 1988. That is some of what we learned from him that was gleaned from the Quran.

I've wondered about this for a long time. A god that is evil or semi-evil or imperfect definitely makes 10000000000x more sense and fits what we see and experience in this world, than an all perfect, all good god, that's for sure. But for some reason, both atheists and Christians are afraid to go there, they each believe that either god is perfect and all good or he doesn't exist at all, which is a false dichotomy since there are many other possibilities. Moreover, there is no logical reason why a creator or architect has to be perfect or all good. He can be evil or semi-evil or an a-hole too. Just like any CEO can. Moreover, the book of Isaiah has a verse that says "the Lord creates both good and evil". And occultists say that evil is the left hand path of God. Carl Jung said that negative energy exists because God has a shadow side or dark side. And Thomas Paine said that the creation is a reflection of the creator, so if creation is imperfect, then god must be too. Very simple and logical. Why can't most people accept that?
Free will is an ad hoc theory that Christians use to try to reconcile an unjust world with a just god. It doesn't work though, because most people are on auto pilot and don't seem to have free will and there's no evidence for free will too. Plus a lot of bad things happen that we did not choose too.

I just paused the interview to order his new book. Danke. Guess no one ever told Marcion, _God works in mysterious ways_ -what u'd hear from priests, as a child, when you ask difficult questions. Only having Marcion through the eyes of his enemies must result in a pretty skewed and truncated view. Ive always loved Blake's -demiurgos_ image _The Ancient of Days,_ (its actually the frontispiece to one of his 'prophetic books _Europe,_ as well as his unique symbolic take on things. Fascinating. I've got a few of Litwas books I'm about to get into on my Ereader- not sure which one I'll start with. But he and Carrier, Kipp have all said things that I've been trying to get across to others for a while now, plus had extra insights on events I had no clue about.
On this topic of an 'Evil' creator, I'd go you one further. There's an excellent essay by Camille Paglia which describes some of the Pre-Hellenistic, some even Pre-Egyptian (so Hunting and Gathering), Fertility-Goddess/Mother-Earth Worship, which is where Set is located, if I'm not mistaken. She makes the point that originally, Woman ruled over the Underworld (like Goddess Hel) because she was the God of the Earth, opposite Father Sky, who impregnated her with Storms and Rain. In this animistic worldview, caves were looked at as Sacred Wombs, and also a kind of Church setting, which is probably why subterranean settings continued to be sacred spaces for some time (Cave paintings as well etc). She calls this aspect of the Divine-Feminine the 'Cthonic,' do do with the unpredictable, wild, 'chaotic nature' of the seasons, hunts, and childbirth during these periods, as well as women's moods surrounding menstruation and pregnancy, which became associated with the 'stages of the Moon.' This 'enduring of the underworld'- and 'beheading a serpent' to return a hero motif, is very much an early birth template, with the Serpent being a representation of Rivers (like Tigris/Euphrates, Nile etc), that/energy which moves without legs, phallic energy, and also the umbilical 'cord' that a child must have 'cut off' (as with a sword) to become born- as if out of the Earth, or the 'Underworld'- enduring the pain of childbirth is the pain of creation. The language relating to these ancient religions is so fascinating, yet people very much miss the point, because it is so old, some of it reaches into the language of dream and poem, body-connected-ritual more than our more economic-oriented, material-reductionist language ('spend time,' etc)

I have never seen a debate that explicitly addresses “the elephant in the room”
Fundamentally, all theists seek to reconcile their contemporary beliefs with scriptural documents which, by any fair reading, are egregiously divergent. It seems beyond dispute that vast rhetorical and theological gymnastics that are required to accomplish this conflation.

I believe that Yahweh was Enlil. The Annunaki were mistakenly thought of as angels. Enlil originally had overall command of earth when they started mining gold, before humans were created. He was called Lord of the air and he was a warrior prince who disliked humans, thought that they were a bad idea and wanted them drowned in the Great Flood.

Mining gold? I don't think they had them mind gold in the ancient sumerian texts.
Are you speaking about the pseudoarchaeological claims by ie Sitchens, which is pretty much uniformly rejected by real scholars in the subject?
Regardless, if one Sumerian deity HAD to be compared to the Israelite understanding of their God, then Enlil is a decentish choice. He was considered the chief God of their pantheon and is a bit of the creator type, having separated heaven and the earth, in addition to being connected with storms, earth, wind, and air.

The story about Elijah and the 2 she-bears is so bizarre that I can’t help speculate whether it’s connected to astrological/astronomical mythology related to the Ursa Major and Ursa Minor with the children representing stars or possibly the passage of some units of time, (days, months , years etc.). Otherwise there seems to be no point to the tale other than making both Yahu and Elijah look like a Qanon nightmare come true .

@44:32 As I recall the argument from the period, an eye that cannot see (blind) is not an evil eye. It's simply an eye deficient in goodness... Theologically, it's as important as a 'ray' vs. a 'line' in geometry/math. The 'ray' begins at a point, and extends in a direction infinitely. The 'line' is actually two 'rays' sharing a starting point, going in opposite directions. The essence of the argument is clear enough, I think. You don't need to posit that 2nd ray going into negative territory, when dealing with a Good God. You can do quite a bit with 'no good' and 'barely good', instead. A completely blinded eye is not evil, it's just not good at all. A partially blinded eye is also not evil, it's just partially good.

By digging deeper into the scripture, beyond the surface, our Creator's true character of unconditional Love can be proved.
The seeming contradictions and inconsistencies are due to God taking the blame for all the evil the enemy is causing and also due to the Bible not being channeled or dictated to the writers of the Bible but inspired by the Ruach Ha Kodesh.
There is a great difference between channeling and inspired writing.
The difference is that our Creator, unlike the imposter god of this world, Satan, respects our free will and does not attempt to control our minds and writings.
God is such a respecter of persons and has such high regard for our free will that He let the writers of the Bible write their own misinterpretations of events and even misconceptions of His character, and met them where they were, at their level of understanding of His character, in the time and culture they lived.
That is the main reason the patriarchs, prophets, and kings wrote that God is jealous, angry, or revengeful!
It was because the patriarchs, prophets, and kings saw God's character from their own limited human perspective, influenced by the cultural mindset they were immersed in.
For example, the prophet Elijah believed that God kills and destroys because he lived in a time when people believed Satan's lie that our Creator kills and destroys, so he commanded fire from heaven to consume living beings.
“And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I am a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven and consumed him and his fifty. 2 Kings 1:10
This was the main reason our beautiful Savior Yeshua had to come into this world, to reveal the Father's true character of Love and non-violence!
"And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?"
"But he turned and rebuked them, and said, Ye, know not what manner of spirit you are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.”
    Luke 9: 54-56
The spirit of commanding fire to come down is not the spirit of our God but the spirit of the destroyer, Satan.
It was the spirit of Satan that enabled Elijah to call down fire from heaven, not God.
The fire that comes from God represents the Holy Spirit, the Ruach HaKodesh, it is not literal and never destroys but only purifies and sanctifies.
Examples are the Burning Bush which burned but was not consumed, and the tongues of Fire on the Day of Pentecost.
Why did Elijah become afraid of Jezebel after his great victory of bringing down fire and killing the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel?
Because deep inside Elijah felt that his conscience was rebuking him.
Elijah finally came close to God and learned His true character of Love and non-violence on Mount Sinai.
After all the fireworks that Satan brought to frighten Elijah were passed, there was a “still small voice.”
    1 Kings 19:11-13
The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind.
After the wind, there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.
After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire.
And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave."
God was not in the earthquake, not in the storm, not in the fire but in the still and small voice!

Also, just like at Nicea there were men who chose which books to leave out of "the Bible", goodness knows how many ancient documents have been destroyed or hidden by the Roman Catholic Church and orthodox churches that don't promote the church's agenda, including documents found in Egypt (the Nag Hammadi codices, ancient manuscript texts hidden in an earthenware jar for 1,600 years, discovered in upper Egypt in 1945) etc. So many secrets kept from the masses just so Christianity (ie the Patriarchy) can continue to hoard wealth, power and control. @12:39 Love that image. Although it is often left out in the stories, the implication is certainly there. Noah had the ability to save people and chose not to. In one of my philosophy classes, we covered commissive and omissive sins/crimes. The most common that we normally think of is the commissive type -- where someone commits a sin/crime. The other type -- omissive -- is where a sin/crime happens through omitted obligated action. The example I remember from class is the old school doctors who carried around those black bags that had the most common meds/instruments he needed. If this doctor has within his bag the means to save the life of a dying man, and instead chooses not to intervene -- that's omissive murder. Our laws, especially in the West, tend not to punish omissive sins/crimes. When they do, it's usually made into a lesser offense such as 'Negligent Homicide'. Noah would be guilty of omissive murder -- he could have saved these drowning people, yet chose not to -- choosing his immediate family's fate (and the animal kingdom's fate as well) above the fate of all others. I think it's safe to say that the idea of 'Omissive Sin/Crime' was either inconceivable or laughable to the civilization that wrote that flood story.

I call this Mirror Curse, and when someone is trapped in a higher spiritual dimension themselves, I call it the curse of the pure heart.

Although I have no Idea who or what the 2 she bears represent, my suspicion is that the 42 children may represent the killing of the 42 Laws of Ma'at and/or the 42 gods/judges that question the spirit of the dead Egyptians as it tries to make it’s way into the afterlife. So in a way the story signifies a new authority and falling away from the old.

So the Vail is lifted with new Gospel of truth by Jesus Christ
but the Vail still remains because of the reading of Moses Torah why because the bible clearly tells you that Moses was deceived by Yahweh/Satan
      Isaiah 5:20
"Woe unto them that call evil good and good evil that put darkness for light and light for darkness that put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter ."
The deceived Christians and Jews see Yahweh as God and evil he did in the OT as good or justifiable by making apologetics excuses For what evil he did like killing women and children without realizing they're actually defending a tyrant god
      Hosea 13:7-8
      Yahweh/Jehovah says...
"Therefore I will be unto them as a lion:as a leopard by the way I observe them. I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps and will rend the caul of their heart and there will I devour them like a Lion: the wild beast shall tear them."
Let's interpret this with Revelation 13:2
"And the beast which i Saw was like unto a leopard and his feet were as the feet of a bear (to Tear nations) and his mouth as the mouth of a lion (to devour nations ) the dragon gave him his power and his seat and great authority."
So whose the dragon we go back to Deuteronomy 32:8
Dead Sea Scrolls: “When Elyon gave the nations as an inheritance, when he separated the sons of man, he set the boundaries of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God (bene elohim). For Yahweh’s portion was his people; Jacob was the lot of his inheritance”.
So Yahweh was given authority and power over Israel by Elyon. So Elyon Is the dragon while Yahweh is a lesser god.
      Peter 5:8
"Be sober. Be vigilant. For your enemy the Devil is like a roaring lion looking for whom he may devour."
Be careful with Yahweh because he devours.
      John 1:17
For the laws was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
      John 8:19
Where is your father?” they asked. Jesus answered, “Since you don’t know who I am, you don’t know who my Father is. If you knew me, you would also know my Father.”
      John 8:44
" You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies".
Jesus is telling the pharisees the god Yahweh they worship is a liar and has deceived them since Genesis.

I enjoyed this, will definitely get his book. But I literally laughed out loud when he said that Christians aren’t war-like, like the Jews. Like the Crusades wasn’t a thing. 😂

I am is sneaky. It can be the Truth (God). It can be the Devil it can be the ego. it can be the witness that is aware. ( the son). Marcion knew that an external God is not the Truth.

I believe the Gospels were written as theatre stage plays of that period , this was done as a way of entertainment and keeping the asses in the seats so to speak. Other then one of the Gospels John I think? The other 3 really do roll out like a stage play. Gospel of Thomas

Jesus's description of the good father clearly shows he does not consider Yahweh to be his father.

Dr Litwa is a very accessible writer, he speaks in laymans terms. The problem is that many of his books are pricey. I would have them all by now but they cost a fortune.

Agree. Going to have to wait until it comes down from $80. Ouch. Probably used in a class somewhere, thus the price.

Of the pain during His atoning sacrifice, God says ...
“Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit-and would that I might not drink the bitter cup, and shrink-
“Nevertheless, glory be to the Father, and I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men”

The way he talks at about 16 minutes in, while he doesn't explicitly say this, the impression I got is that the host doesn't believe in God because he doesn't approve of how God behaves. This seems strange to me. I don't like what Hitler did, but I believe he existed. Not liking what God does strikes me as a strange reason for deciding he isn't real.

Patrick Barnes Hitler EXISTED, was born, went to school, wrote horrible books, did horrible things and died. "God" was said to do stuffs, some of them horrible, by many anonymous authors. That's why some people believe that those authors were fibbing to scare children and helpless people.
