Don’t just do it slowly to be comfortable. Do it slowly to stay alive. Unlike heroin withdrawal which you can safely stop all at once (although you’ll be very sick and feel like you’re dying, you won’t actually die.). If you stop benzodiazepines cold turkey, you can die.

Perioperative medication management for people on Suboxone depends on the situation and the dose you're taking. If it is an elective surgery that can be scheduled out, they may taper your bupe dose down and then switch you over to full agonist opioids 3 day prior to your surgery if the post operative pain requires full agonist opioids and then you'll titrate back to bupe after your surgery/ recovery, or they may just keep you on the bupe if it is an ambulatory minor surgery and your dose is around 8mg per day. The higher bupe dose is where it gets more complicated.

@@danielsinrecovery thank you for your reply. Just my opinion from my experience but if you want you could talk to your doc about how this med can help with the anxiety . Zoloft really helped my anxiety and mood at 50-75mg daily. Of course do what you feel is best always., I’ve been following you from the early days of your channel. Be careful. Unlike heroin withdrawal which is the worst (I’ve been through heroin withdrawal many times and it’s AWFUL), but you generally don’t die from it (even if you feel like you are dying.) However, benzo withdrawal can be fatal. Taper off slowly. I was on klonopin and Xanax (which I bought). I’m still on klonopin (they were prescribed by a doctor and I take them as prescribed), but I tapered off the xanax slowly. Good luck!
