I definitely agree with the contradiction between seeking equality and having freedom. A common thing associated with most feminism movements is this idea of imposing restrictions on men, when in reality the idea is based off equality between both men and women. The problem is if this was to be achieved then you would need to address the power imbalance and thus incorporate restrictions.
Also a lot of people feel pressured, especially youngsters, to explore their sexual freedom when they don't want to, they are made to feel abnormal or even ridiculed for abstaining themselves because it's considered backwards, yet sleeping around and waking up next to a complete stranger with no recollection of what's happened is normal. Quite frankly it's dangerous. Men and women should never feel coerced into doing anything, they should be in a position where they can comfortably say no and be listened to.

I would travel all the way to England to attend a may ball. I love the idea of dressing up and being glamorous :)

Glamour at the cost of what?
It's this high that makes us blind to everything else.

Not only does current Western culture surrounding sex benefit the Hugh Hefners of the world and leaves many heterosexual females unable to find desirable males who will commit to them and stay committed, but it also makes for many males not finding heterosexual females (who are going for the top 5 to 10 percent of "most desirable" males).
In societies where many males are left out, a subset pf the left out males become violent to either steal the resources (or other unethical acts) needed to attract a mate, go for non-consentual access to females or just be resentful and harm others generally. That's descriptive, not that this is right or ethical.

In other words, the choice always was monogamy or polygamy.

This episode aptly begins with a brief description of May Balls which are held in June and goes into readings from and commentary on the book arguing against sexual revolution because men and women are as equal as May and June (my interpretation).

Sounds like a great book. The overall point is something I've often thought myself but this topic in particular seems like one you could never oppose publicly, or even privately to a degree... I really hope the woke mob don't take this pod the wrong way

Yeah me too. We have to take evolution seriously, not as "strict biological determinism" especially that applies to strict categories. Our ancestors going back even before we were humans evolved with males and females having different reproductive roles that set selection pressures on behaviors, preferences, meaning in the world, etc. Humans are the most blank slate kind or creature there is that has maximized adaptability to new environments and social conditions, but we still ujder direct influence of our genes including that biases each sex towards traits like I've listed above.
That's descriptive, not prescriptive, so not to say "therefore ancient beliefs and practices are what we ought to follow". Our success as a species comes from the ways in which our complex brain and the mind that results allows us to adapt quickly through culture (which is a faster way than genes for carrying information into the future). We've also experimented with mal-adaptive cultural configurations, that and the environment shifts around us requiring that we adapt our culture again. Time will always tell what cultural practices and beliefs has staying power.

Just after 24 minutes they mention her stark example of biological realities between males and females as a biologically dimorphic species. Human males on average are about 20% larger than human females with denser muscle, more muscle, and that trait is governed by male vs male sexual competition as seen to a greater degree in species where male sexual access is closer to fully polygynous where 1 male has many females and many males have no females.
