As a CR owner I applaud this build. OEM-plus is the grail of grails when it comes to the S2K (IMHO). If I wanted high HP I'd buy a C6 ZO6, which isn't a bad idea.
Hi Zygrene, just wanted to congratulate the success of your channel and make some comments. I was watching the video of AP1 with spoon color scheme, with Ichishima-san talking with Gan-san ( he’s my S2K hero, watch his Nurburgring drive with top down, no glove and just a pair of loafer shoes like Senna was wearing while driving NSX at Suzuka years ago ! ). Happy to know there are folks in US enjoying and messing around with S2K at this age and time. Sounds like you have reviewed many S2K and knows quite a bit about those with stock and modified. Hoping you gonna continue to passionate about S2K and Uehara san, Otobe san, Suzuki san and Mr Honda would be so proud and pleased. Please keep reviewing them and I’m gonna enjoy my AP1 meanwhile. Arigatou !
Thank you for the kind words!! I've watched the video of Gan-san destroying the 'ring with the prototype AP1 countless times. He and Senna are both legends.
You ever look under the s2k, there's 2 huge tunnels there that can be exploited for aero purposes, but no one ever does, they just go flat bottom. Not even Voltex, or Varis, or any of the big aero tuning companies do anything with those tunnels. The way I see it, they're ripe for exploitation, particularly using floor fences like they do in F1. All you'd have to do is modify the wheel well liners.
There will always be debates among fans of the S2000 (be it AP1 vs AP2, or AP1v1 vs AP1 v2 vs AP2v1 vs AP2v2 vs AP2v3 for that matter). Any S2K in good condition is bound to be a special car, but different model years will appeal more strongly to some based on their own personal preferences. I can see this series being of some benefit to those trying to decide which variation of the S2K might appeal most to them. I consider the S2000 special in part because it represented Honda's vision of what a pure, unadulterated sports car should be at the time it was on offer. Though many decades had passed since Honda had last designed a pure sports car from the ground up, their basic approach hadn't really changed all that much since the 1960's. Honda was unapologetic about this, sticking to their vision until the S2000's time had come to an end. Because of this I can understand why some hold the S2000 in such high regard while others don't - it's not the kind of car that is bound to please everyone. I only wish that Honda would have renamed the car the S2200 with the introduction of the 2.2 liter F22C engine found in the AP2 cars offered in North American and Japan. This would have been in keeping with the rest of the S car lineup dating all the way back to the S360 that never went to production
Excellent series. Look forward to the comparison. I have almost finished my car with a stage 2 S/C, TTX, roll bar, Recaro, 6-pt harness, and other goodies to round out my two year track/street build. Regrettably the hardtop remains. Otherwise I would drive it out to you for a comparison.
This is nearly identical to my setup. I take it he has a front sway with RCAs to compliment the square setup. How does the suspension feel relative to Ohlins in the same spring rate?
@@Zygrenenice. I pretty much know exactly how this car feels. It's a nice street/canyon setup. However, I am left wondering how a 12-14k sprung/valved set of Ohlins would feel.
HKS SSM seems even milder. It doesn't give the same punchy downshifts as the Milltek. From inside the car with windows up it honestly didn't sound much louder than stock.
It's hard to say which is quicker (around corners) and handles better, but I can definitely drive the S2000 harder, which makes me feel like I'm going faster. For me it's mainly about driving feel and perception of speed, and that's where the S2000 shines even over a Cayman R.
Your a true s2k junkie. Lol. I like the 04 to 05 as well but the problem with the ap2 is that gearing becomes a problem once you start making power. Its too short
I actually don't mind the AP2 gear ratios even with a 2.2L with full bolt ons and tune. Plenty of track guys even go for a shorter final drive. Forced induction might be a different story though.

10/10 quality comment
Hah! After all the feedback on too much s2000, content - triple down and make an s2000 series. I love it! Keep it up.
Dope build. Hope to see a K Swapped S2K (and FRS and Miata) review in the near future and how they all compare.
Take a shot everytime Zygrene posts an s2000 video
Rip to your liver
Great idea! Looking forward to all of the reviews
I think it’s safe to say that you have an obsession with s2k’s lol
I think it's safe to say that's an understatement 😉
In the minority here, but that yellow Rx-8 really caught my eye. Great video btw.
Yellow RX-8 vs 996 Carrera video coming soon!

Think it is time for you to get another Stook.
why dont u get bacc into an s2k

It's in the d'inscription.
It feels pretty soft, similar to Ohlins DFV with shelf spring rates
@@marciosilva89 I missed clicking on the "more" tab; I didn't see it.

Do you guys think Ohlins with 12k/10k spring rates be too much for canyon driving?
Nice Model 3 Dual Motor bro
what pads?
I d love to hear your impression about the HKS SSM!How is it compared to the Tanabe and Miltek you previously described as the “gentlemen’s exhaust”🙏

@@Zygrene full throttle any better/fruitier than stock? thx🙏
@@massimilianozeni1848 definitely louder than stock at WOT
@@Zygrene thx! 🙏
Luv this! If you need a supercharged S2000 in there somewhere, please let me know. You are more than welcome to include mine 👍
Yes please! Shoot me a quick email to zygrene@gmail.com
These modded S2000’s look pretty quick when you drive them.
Are they quicker and handle better than that Cayman R you previously tested?

Front fenders of the S2000 are sexy.
So low
Erm, I really think you just need to stop fighting it and buy another S2000 🤣
review mine :)
