    2:00 its a Helmholtz resonator, designed so that exhaust sound waves at a certain frequency go into the pipe and destructfully combine eliminating each other. the length of the pipe is in relation to the frequency that you want to eliminate, usually a drone point.

      Technically that is not a Helmholtz design, it's simply a resonator. Helmholtz has a very specific and high aspect ratio shape.

    • @keefgtp
      @keefgtp หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      And they work very well. Helmholtz resonators are a sign of good engineering which only a few aftermarket companies ever bother with.

    I think people forget about the $15-30k sports cars because TH-cam is over saturated with $100k+ exotics. Glad you can appreciate a solid everyday car-guy’s car.

      Not only that... these kind of cars are much easier to enjoy, you can drive them on the limit much easier and will not scare the poo out of you... and you will not go bankrupt when you damage them.

      @@henry2650 they’ve held their values pretty well, especially CRs and very low mileage examples, but they’re not as bad as people make them seem. Check out some of the recent sales on the auction sites - very nice S2ks can still be had under that $30k price point and you can find them for close to the bottom of that range if you aren’t afraid of a few miles.

    23:49 The A pillar is actually black tape, hence the cracking. Underneath the tape usually has the body color paint under it but it’s been sort of a crapshoot because while most of the time it’s a finished pillar, there have been instances where the clear coat isn’t even applied. Worse yet, there’s been cases where it wasn’t painted at all, but that’s hearsay - I’ve never seen it unpainted in person. Great video!

    I worked at an Acura dealership back in 2000-2002 as a porter. One of the service advisors had an S2000. Once a week if I washed it for him, as "payment" he'd let me take it out for a spin after I was done. Being 20 years old and loving the car, that seemed fair to me. Like Larry said, it's not the fastest car I've ever driven...but it's definitely one of the most fun cars I've ever driven hands down. It screams up to that 9k rpm mark! So much fun. If It had been mine back then, I would have been in trouble constantly! Definitely a fun car to drive!

When I test drove it at delivery, the seat bolsters cut onto my kidney area and hut so bad I couldn't drive the car. The dealer said not to worry as they would break in but that was silly when you can't drive the car. I bought a Subaru STI later that day. I still think the S2000 is a great car and hope Honda comes out with a new one someday.

    Can you add an ice blaster in the channel? That would be more satisfying to watch!!

    Honda makes a product called Shin-Etsu grease that S2000 owners love to use on our door and roof seals. Like your leather conditioning products, it moisturizes and preserves the seals, which cuts down on squeaks, leaks, and wind noise.

    I love the S2000, I remember seeing one in a Honda showroom in 2001 first year they came out, unfortunately I was buying a Civic with my dad. Through out the negotiations on the civic all I did was stare at the S2000. Few years later my brother bought one and I got to drive it often, best handling car I’ve ever driven. The only bad thing about the S2000 is that the people that don’t know think it’s a Miata.

    An 02-04 S2000 has been one of my dream cars since I was in high school. I was a day away from buying one (found the perfect spec, basically identical to this one, and was going to view it the next day) when I got into an accident and could obviously no longer sell my current car as the source of money. Life has been a series of unfortunate events since and prices got away from me to be able to justify one anymore.
