Awesome video. Love how you covered every detail so clearly. 70 years old and I'm planning my first PC build. I made my list of the components I want and buying them as they go on sale. I'm sure I'll have questions once I finish the build. Just amazes me how knoledgeable you young people are. Hopefully some of that will rub off on me.

Excellent video as always. The channel as a whole is very educational and useful to PC enthusiasts. One thing I would note about this particular video is that placing the main operating system drive (m.2 drive) in the uppermost slot is not always the best option. This is particularly relevant to gaming PC's and many Z790 boards. A good example is the Asus ROG Strix Z790-E Gaming Wifi. Placing any m.2 drive (whether gen 4 or gen 5) on the uppermost slot will automatically set the uppermost PCIE slot down from 16 to 8 lanes. The ideal location on this board for the main operating system drive is the 3rd slot. This slot is addressed directly from CPU lanes (not the chipset) and does not affect the uppermost PCIE slot for your GPU. One final recommendation after seeing the entire video is to check device manager after installing drivers just as a final check that everything is in order.

Man, thank you so much for all those videos! It's invaluable information! I've just finished a build completely based on your guides and tips for parts! It went way better and much faster than my last build, and even though I'm not a pc builder noob, it really helped to take some short cuts with your build guides!
My new build is almost identical to your personal pc, except for the ssd's and the psu. I went with the be quiet straight Power 12 1000w instead. It's awesome!

Absolutely ESSENTIAL channel!! Thank you! We just built our first PC and installed the i-9 14900K on the Asus Pro Art z790 and plenty more goodies. But could of never done it without this channel (and a few others). I also used the whokeys link for the new windows 11 Pro.
I couldn't use my 2020 HP Pavilion once I started using Photoshop. They are great and practical but it wasn't upgradable, it is a all-in-one and is basically a laptop with a widescreen. This mega PC I built was certainly pricy, about 4 grand all said and done including a 4k monitor Ultra LG 32GQ950-B and 2x 2 Tera byte Samsung 990 PRO nvm, but very happy and looking forward to photo and video editing. fyi I went with the matching rtx 4070 oc Pro Art and 2 sticks of corsair 6400 DDR5 32 cl ram. Peripherals really added up every step of the way, including an iFix it took kit. All very gratifying and well worth it. Still updating stuff on this pc and I have not even ran Photoshop yet but looking forward to the task now. Cheers!

Followed this tutorial step by step. Exact same mobo with 13700k. 6x Chromax on case with Noctual CPU Cooler. Be Quiet straight power 12 1000W. Quietest PC ever!
Quick question : Why did the XMP reverted back to Disabled at 2:31:20? Is it normal? Mobo did the same to me. Memory is at 6400Mhz (bios and Win11 confirmed), but I'm curious why the XMP reverts to Disabled.

Thanks - an enjoyable ride. Good refresher, too. I haven't built in a long time and am looking forward to your videos on under-$1000 builds. I hope to make Adobe Denoise AI go at respectable speed. Someone said that an RTX 3080 8GB is barely adequate for Denoise, though informal testing charts indicate that isn't true. Would love to hear your views on the subject. So glad you want to help creators, not gamers. At 81 I'm shooting events and videoing interviews with an R6.

Thanks for the video. I'm building a PC for the first time since I was a teen. I'm pretty excited about it. The longest part was deciding on all the parts. Mainly if I wanted to go with AMD or Intel as I will be mostly gaming with it. I don't need productivity work so much but at the same time I want it there just in case I decide to edit videos or so.
7800X3D or 13900K was the dilemma along with what mobo I was going to use. I'm keeping this build for at least 5 years as well but however will be doing another build in 2 years. Looks like the 14th gen will be using the same socket this year. Honestly I wish the AM5 mobos were cheaper as whatever you saved on the CPU from Intel you are losing it with on the mobo side along with more expensive RAM as well. The difference was around $75 so I told myself what the heck I rather spend a little more with Intel to get more productive while losing on some gaming. It's an older CPU but it's a better all arounder imo. I didn't want to do 7950X3D as the gaming performance was less than the 7800X3D.
Lastly in the future if you could rotate the top view cam to face you instead so that we could see it from your POV instead. It's easier to follow you this way that's why.

75 year old about to start my first PC build based primarily on your videos. I am going to use the Gigabyte Z690 Auros Elite AX ddr5 and would like to update the bios prior to beginning the build. But, the site is unclear to me which new bios I should be updating too. There is a version 1.xx and a version 1.4, one point to the latest bios version as f24, the other to version FL. Certainly don't want my first step in the process to destroy the MB. How do I tell which one I need?

The bios update portion should really be filmed on a variety of brands from AsRock to Asus to Gigabyte. While they are similar, I have an AsRock x570 Taichi Razer edition and I always get hung up on Gigabyte bios for some reason. I have updated my bio on my AsRock, but I did not have a single bit of fun, completely concerned whether I was even doing anything correctly the whole time. I love this video overall and the bits and pieces where you say 'be careful with...' are extremely helpful to those of us that just go about upgrading our systems every 5yrs or so.

I've been building personal PCs and company servers since the windows 98 days, and I really can't see how or why the hobby never gained an interest with the mass majority of people back then. It's a great way to learn technology. It's keeps you busy and out of trouble. It creates great conversations with people. Unfortunately, the lack of interest back then caused collateral damage for retail stores like CompUSA and Circuit City.

I've finished my build with he ASUS ProArt CREATOR Z790 and the new i9-13900KS, and I've started the POST and it seems to keep coming up with 'CPU Overheat Error'.
This isn't on every time I try posting, but most times. I've got the ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 360 and everything seems to be plugged in. I've reapplied thermal paste. Reinstalled the pump. When I entered BIOS the CPU showed up at 89°C. I've done a lot of research and still can't quite pin point what is going on... Is it worth updating BIOS first?

Hi, i have some suggestions - that will make this kind of videos easier to follow:
    - rotate the top camera 180 degrees, so that the camera perspective matches with what the user will see when they work on their system
    - the contact frame should be showed as an optional step (since it's not really for beginners) - i get it that you say for i9 it makes perfect sense... but the people can follow your guide for i5, i3 processors as well and there the sense it makes drops significantly, plus other reasons: not all are designed the same, with some you can break your mainboard, also depending on the place in the world, one might not be available nearby, i don't have one for my i9 because it's not really convenient for me to order one.
    - agree with the recommendation to get the memory with xmp profile, but for different reasons that you presented: better compatibility (because it most likely to be on the recommendation page for your mainboard because it was tested by the mainboard manufacturer), other than that there shoudn't be any no long term disadvantage since both profiles are only some bites of information (frequency, voltage and main timings) in the ram spd chip that bios reads and apply.
    Cheers!

Thank you ! Excellent video !
Small question, the graphic card is still running at 16x even if a M.2 ssd drive is installed on the first socket ?
Your step by step video helped me in building my brand new PC (Asus ProArt Z790 + Intel i9-13900k + aio 360 + Asus ProArt 4080 GPU + 1To m.2 ssd for the OS (1st Socket) + 4To m.2 ssd (2nd socket) + 64 GB ram + 1200w).
Thank you in advance for your reply.

@pc9784 @thetechnotice answered me in another trend, and here is his answer :
On ASUS ProArt z790 you're gonna be fine. Don't
worry. You can mount your SSD in first expansion slot.

Is there any useful reason to use a local account instead of signing into your microsoft account other than being able to say "Screw you Microsoft"?
You can also sign in during setup then switch to a local account after install, right?

There is no way that the air cooler can cool that i9 efficiently. You might as well have a 13600k because once you start loading all of those cores the speed will throttle from high temps. That cooler is good for 160wats of cooling and that i9 has a rating of 253 watts. Throttling is not good.

This board hasn't been the issue :)

    • @mark-ze4en
      @mark-ze4en ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@theTechNotice Please do a video about the actual issue. Seems to be ,,overclocking is the issue and the use of RAM that exceeds the processor limits but the manufacturers and others have promoted the ability to overclock beyond the 1.3 . So, is it false advertising leading to improper combinations of components. Love to use the board,, but not till this issue is cleared and ASUS develops a reliable BIOS(ie not BETA). Clarify for us all. I know it's difficult.
