- In today's adventure, we hop on the Tunnel Bus and experience the ease of traveling from Detroit, Michigan to Windsor, Ontario!
The Tunnel Bus is an incredibly simple and affordable way to cross the border between these two cities. At just $7.50 each way (accepted in either US or Canadian currency), you can enjoy a seamless journey without breaking the bank. Keep in mind that the bus operates on an hourly schedule, so make sure to plan accordingly!
Going from Detroit to Windsor was surprisingly quick, taking us less than 5 minutes to cross the border. However, our return trip to Detroit was a different story. Due to the Detroit Tigers game happening at the same time, it took us over an hour to get back.
Join us as we navigate this international adventure and share our experiences on the Tunnel Bus (we even run into a bit of unexpected drama when a toll worker questions us about recording at the toll site!). Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe to Flux City!

You can record on federal ground.
Yes you can
That dude at the end was on some next level wild. As soon has he asked what the camera could be used for in knew exactly where he was going 😂
Fun fact: The UK and France have a similar tunnel, but on a much larger scale.
Instead of driving through the tunnel, your car gets loaded onto a train that takes you through the tunnel. The trip is 35 minutes, to travel 50 km through the Channel Tunnel. You can also get a Eurostar train from London to Paris or vice versa.
Great video! I was always looking for a way to get from Detroit to Windsor without a car and this looks like an easy option
Hi flux city, I’m here today from London, England because I met a lady yesterday from Windsor who’s on vacation in London…when I met her yesterday (12th Monday) she had just flown in that morning, we met as she was walking past Downing Street the home of the British prime minister..it’s always interesting meeting folks from different parts of the world because now you can look it up within seconds and watch TH-cam videos on it…thanks for your video it’s short but very informative..cheers mate…
I didn’t think the shuttle bus still existed. I used to catch it in front of the McNamara years ago. Way easier to come home after hours at Cheetah’s, than trying to cross driving while blotto.
EDIT: at the 7:00 mark, it was a trip to hear the driver say you’re the 3rd American passenger in 3 years to utilize the bus line.
Good vid bro ! Nice to see this bus back ! . Its almost like you can step out of Mariners Church and on to the bus !. Its a unique idea having this run. Get using it people !>
appreciate this video!!! the tunnel bus website does not explain properly where to wait for the bus at the church! thank you for this!
Cool video. I usually drive my car using the tunnel to go to Detroit. I think it's usually faster than Ambassador Bridge. I hope you enjoyed your time here in Windsor. Detroit and Windsor used to be called twin cities.
Canadian people are very friendly. I took me and my wife to Windsor from Detroit and it was fun.
Fascinating adventure
Thanks.
😳😳wowww so Detroit city bus can go into Canada!!!???
How they check your passport? Does officer enter bus or you have to step out and check in somewhere? Sorry never been in Detroit, but planning next week
You have to step off the bus and walk into customs. They'll then ask you a few questions, and in most cases, you'll be on your way!
My most interesting "border crossing" ever was when I took the overnight cargo/passenger ship from Kingstown, St. Vincent to Port of Spain, Trinidad in 1993. The customs and immigration officers came right onto the deck of the ship, set up two tables and their other stuff, made everyone line up, and then checked and processed all of us. Ended up spending 8 months there (after4 months in St. Vincent).
One of the best years of my life!
Federal law says it’s ok 1st Amendment right
Where can I get the bus ? At the airport ? Or where ?
Is the tunnel bus operated by Detroit Transit or Windsor Transit or both?
Just curious if you can make a POV for the whole trip
Do you have to prebook or prepay for anything, or can you just show up with appropriate cash/card and your passport at one of the stops?
No. It is just a regular bus stop. No need for reservation. Have $7 even CA or US with your passport or enhanced license. The rides end at 9pm and if you get stuck you have to take the yellow/blue Victory cab that can run you $50 one way
It works just like any other bus
do you still gave to carry your passport when u get on the bus to go to Windsor from Detroit?
You don't as long as you have an enhanced ID.
@@FluxCity like a “real ID”
@@FluxCityyes. Here in Michigan they call them "enhanced driver's license".
Itd be cool if they had a hotel down in the tunnel, kind of like Lex Luther's home in Superman 1
I drove avec my own automobile y/et the cutoms Jack Asses flaped their gums while I was sitting in the vehicle. When tu/vous rides Tunnel bus, how do customs Jack Asses handle things?
How did u pay for the bus do they take card ?
Actually, I had a pocket full of American quarters, and used those to pay for both trips to from US to Canada, and then from Canada back to the US
Do you need a passport to go to Canada
Can u use the enhanced ID to go
Yes, that is what I used.
dude ... don't keep pressing the issue ok ... they say no then just leave it man!
Sit down, shut up and do as your told!
Detroit Windsor tunnel isn’t government property. It’s owned by City of Detroit and Windsor jointly. So they tried it.
So were you allowed to videotape on Federal property?
You are allowed to record public (federal) property.
So why did he stop recording? @@viesurnous
@@Tannyk1 he was pressed . Certainly he did not want to make a big thing
Hello can someone guide me how can i apply form Europe i have European licence D
Do you still need to show proof of vaccination has crossing and if that’s the case can you show you vax pass on your phone?
@@nellzb.9210 but what I mean is do you need to show proof while crossing the USA border, and this is only for those from international or Canadian, because I heard it will be lifted May 11th
Thanks for this interesting video.I always wondered if you could get from Detroit to Windsor without a car. I also wondered how they handled the boarder crossing procedure. You touched on it when you said the bus stops and you check in at an office at the border. I have taken the train to Detroit and thought it would be interesting to cross over to Windsor and take the VIA train on to Toronto.
United States law says youre allowed to record at ports of entry, idk about Canadian Law though.
Either way, is it really worth the hassle or irritating people? Idk about yall but i just dont think its that big of a deal.
I'm a bit confused about custom. So you went into Canada without going through custom but coming back to U.S. you went through custom?
Also what did they check? Your passport? Driver's license? etc.
Thanks for the video man!
HSI is a whole different animal
@jaewiz8560 i just did that. Into canada no problem. Tons of questions when coming back...bus driver waited for me til hair got long
I hate when people tell someone else to record and the person just says it’s not recording. You know your not doing anything wrong so just actually stop recording then sort everything out and then start recording again
I didn't see you checking with customs and immigration on either side !!
I checked in on both sides but didn't feel comfortable recording that process. It took less than 5 minutes on the Canadian side, but it took about 20 minutes once we got back to the States due to a bus full of Detroit Tiger fans needing to get checked in.
@@FluxCityHi, can you point me time frame in the video where you went through US customs while returning to Detroit?
appreciate your response on this
Did you know that the Canadian federal, provincial and muncipal government at the City of Windsor has been violating the constitutional rights of Windsor/Essex County citizens because of that tunnel bus? They would rather spend money on that bus to go over to Detroit than to spend it on transit to towns in Essex County to get to jobs. The City of Windsor and Transit Windsor had been violating the Canadian Constitution Act, 1982's mobility and equality clauses for 37 years just to racketeer with Detroit sports teams. Both the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and the Canadian Human Rights Commission have recently passed the buck on on each other fighting over whose jurisdiction enforcing Ontario's or Canada's human rights codes. Mayor Drew Dilkens also offered free tickets to staff to the Belle Isle Grand Prix using Transit Windsor's tunnel bus as a bribe to go there. That's called corruption. Too bad the Detroit Mayor has let it happen. I understand the Mayor of Windsor attended his swearing in ceremony.
Damn that's wild!
God shut up.
Blah blah blah😂😂😂
You need to bring this up with your local MP’s and Provincial MLA’s! Let the people elected know that it’s unnacceptable for Canadian taxpayers to fund transit across to America. They better be putting in their fare share cause we all know America has done NOTHING to help their neighbours up north when we countlessly always come thru for them. In Vancouver we have bus service to the border but passengers must disembark and walk across the border then get on a USA transit bus. We don’t fund service across our border. Plus the americas always take from us and NEVER return anything besides complaints, racism and divisiveness.
A lot of Canadians work in Detroit and use the bus to get there@@JuliasCesar
Hi buddy as Canadian with passport what type of questions US customs ask ? I wanna cross half day to visit city . If you answer as soon as you can . Thanks a lot
Direct questions regarding your visit, mostly! They're also interested in what you're bringing over with you. For more info: www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/menu-eng.html
@@FluxCity no I mean crossing to US
Very similar to Canada's protocol and list of questions,@@Citrix-j4r. More info here: www.dhs.gov/cross-us-borders
